Nobody is interested in my hustle posting 😞
Anyone, like literally anyone, out there who also loves the show please show yourselves. Very lonely out here lol
I also love Hustle, I’ve just binged a rewatch
has anyone here on this website watched the older (2004) BBC show called Hustle because it feels like nobody else I know has seen it and I just want to know if, like, other people have ACTUALLY watched it lol
its a show about a group of con-artists/grifters doing their thing to people that they think deaserve it (usually corrupt people in power and other equally as reprehensible targets) and being on their side of it seeing how they set up and play the cons they pull off. Its fun :)
I watched it as a teenager, and I always preferred the later series with Sean and Emma. I’ve just rewatched series 4-8 and am currently writing a fanfic that I will likely never post about it.
maybe a needlessly dark take for a show from about 10 years ago but they really fumbled the bag on the Emma/Sean backstory in hustle right? cause Emma Kennedy canonically looks like one of the most beautiful women in the western world right and was out in foster care and then ran away at 14. Idk to me it seems like having her baggage be ‘I had to look out for my 12 year old brother’ instead of ‘I had to look out for my 12 year old brother because I couldn’t stand the abuse any longer’ was a bit of a missed opportunity. That being said every single thing about Emma Kennedy’s character was a missed opportunity so why break the habit of the series ig
the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
What I loved most about The Other Bennet Sister, yes even more than Tom and Mary's love story, was how the narrative unapologetically stood its ground regarding there being absolutely nothing wrong with Mary that she needed to change and how everything was wrong with the toxic environment she grew up in and the people around her who never let her love herself. When she was pulled out of that environment and placed in an entirely new one, she didn't have a safety net but she could finally be herself without scrutiny. She also met and interacted with new people which included the love of her life.
the other Bennet sister fills me with so much hope. for the girls who were never chosen. for the girls who have never fit in. for the girls who’s sisters naturally seem to flourish socially but couldn’t understand why it wasn’t the same for them. for the girls who are overlooked. for the girls who dream of a gentle and stable love. for the girls who tell everyone they’re okay with being alone. this one was for us, love is possible.
this used to be a common knowledge

you get a comment on tumblr. it's a bot trying to scam you. you get a DM. it's a bot trying to scam you. you get a message on instagram. its a bot trying to scam you. you're an author and you get an email telling you how much they loved your book and want to showcase it at their bookclub. it's a bot trying to scam you (and it uses bad AI to pretend it knows your story). you get a comment on ao3 saying how much they love your fic - and they made you fanart!! it's a bot trying to scam you. you get a hate comment on ao3 which insults your writing or calls you a monster for writing something "problematic". it's a bot. but at least that one isn't trying to scam you.
there's just something really cruel and insidious about this wave of scams going after creatives. You get an email and think someone genuinely loved what you made but - no. It's another scam. It's someone trying to trick you into sending them money. On AO3, it might literally just be a bot someone made specifically to be a hateful little shit.
putting the stuff you've made out there for everyone to see is hard and scary and we're all just bumping around looking for a bit of appreciation and love and connection and these bastards are using that to try to rob us. I hate it.
Im going go get into the sea and stay there
okay come forward which of you reposted this to reddit lmao I SEE YOU
it means so much to me that rocky's lead puppeteer james ortiz got to voice him and got like. full billing right next to ryan gosling in the opening credits. and he's gotten to do interviews and red carpet appearances and talk about puppetry and it's all being taken so seriously just like he's any other type of actor. gonna make me cry fr. like they could have gotten some famous person to be rocky's voice to try and pull more star power but. they went with the guy who acted him. and like of course they did. like there he is. how could they do anything else. he's right there and he's perfect
I went to an interfaith training recently.
In related news, I found out that I am willing to tackle two rabbis, a priest, a pastor, and a Hindu leader to win in musical chairs.
#choosing to believe you decided that imams were out of your league To answer this tag, the priest actually got the imam out in the first round.
MEXICO WIN!!! FUCK AI!!!
I've been a fanfic writer on AO3 for two years, have 50+ stories and over 350k in words, lots of fun reader engagement and stay active on Tumblr to promote my stories and fan creations.
Last night I got an angry message on my Tumblr from a user asking why I was flaming their story on AO3.
I never leave negative comments (and I've left over 500 positive ones!). I looked into it, and the hatebots on AO3 used my username with (Guest) at the end to send one of the most vile messages I've ever read to a user in a completely different fandom from me.
I straightened it out with that user and explained about the hatebots. But their initial message to me was angry, they'd found me off AO3 on Tumblr and called out personal details from my page because they thought I was bullying them.
I still can't really fathom why these hatebots do what they do, but I'm also a little scared that a misunderstanding like that could lead to someone getting doxxed. And I'm also extremely sad that this bot is posing as me and threatening other users. I encouraged the one reaching out to me to report and block and made a note on my page explaining that (Guest) comments are not from me in case anyone else had that experience.
I still love AO3 for the ability to write and share and connect over our stories and fandoms, but this is really discouraging and scary, in addition to the almost daily art bot scams I get on AO3 too.
And my heart breaks for the user who thought even for a moment that a complete stranger would say such awful things to them using my name.
And it's devastating to think of so many writers waiting for feedback on a story they worked so hard on who are getting hateful comments like these. Or to think someone could internalize those hateful comments without knowing it's a bot.
My heart breaks especially for newer writers on AO3, it's definitely a different landscape from when I joined two years ago.
As a kid who grew up watching Terminator - I'm not sure I envisioned the robot wars looking quite like this!!
Here's the form to report abuse if you have a comment from a bot: https://archiveofourown.org/abuse_reports/new
Here's a link with additional information on the different types of bots on AO3: AO3 Comment Bots - Fanlore https://share.google/m9IhE4NEGMNgHjtWq
Here's a way to fight the bots by leaving positive comments, join the AO3 comment fest bingo: https://ao3org-tumblr-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/ao3org.tumblr.com/post/808198255312781312/welcome-to-feedback-fest-2026/
And anyone who sees my name or any of my pseuds with (Guest) please know it didn't come from me, and don't let a random hate bot discourage you from continuing to write!
Eesh. If anyone ever gets a negative comment from me, you can know immediately that it was a bot! I would never!!

As a rule, no one should consider comments coming from "author's name (guest)" are to be considered as bots.
‼️‼️‼️
It'd be worthwhile to turn on comments only from registered users.
The arts matter every bit as much as STEM. One cannot exist without the other, and we exist because of both.
Every time I hear a parent complaining about their child leaving for university and ‘never coming back’ I’m like “Yeah. I don’t need to hear anything else. Kid is in the right.” also, it is baffling how many parents expect their kids to MOVE CLOSER TO THEM so they can see their grandkids. If you ‘feel abandoned’ maybe you could consider leaving Shitsburgh Hatesville and moving closer to them? Or is that too brave?
And I know there is a lot of cultural and family tie related things that can make relocating as an older person scary but I grew up in an area with a terrible economy, a declining population, no healthcare, no job opportunities, no educational opportunities and terrible infrastructure and I got so sick of listening to people complain that their children left. It is a horrible place to raise a child. There is no drugstore in the town, no pediatrician, no entertainment, corruption, a terrible school and again, no jobs. If you actually loved your grandchildren, you’d understand why their parents don’t want to raise them there.
I’m not US based but this makes me think of a friend’s mum, who is in her early 70s. She moved halfway across the world to live in the same city as her children and grandchildren. But she lost a huge amount, the culture shock was intense and that’s without a language barrier as it was to and from an English speaking country. She left a country where she had had a high powered, and highly respected professional career, where she had many friends and long term relationships, to a city where the only people she really knew were family members.
Her mental health suffered massively, because as wonderful as it was for her to spend more time with her family, a relationship with adult children is not the same as a friendship built on equal footing and she lost so many of those and while you can still meet online, it is not the same, especially for someone of a generation which didn’t grow up with video call. As a result her physical health began to decline, and now less than two years after moving across the world, she is wheelchair bound and has lost so much of her energy for daily life.
I don’t think OP is necessarily wrong, but there’s empathy in acknowledging that while older people are less likely to be tied down to a location because of a job, they also tend to be less adaptable and more vulnerable health wise. It can be traumatic to leave your home and community of 30+ years, even if it’s a decision you willingly make to be closer to family, and many people struggle to adapt. Loneliness is deadly, and being close to your children is not usually enough to fend it off.
Look, I'm not a big fan of kids but can we PLEASE stop calling them things like "crotch goblins" and "spawn", it's fucking weird and ageist. Children are people too and they deserve respect. You can be childless by choice or annoyed by entitled parents and not be a dickhed about anything to do with children
it's also not cute to comment things like "my anger issues could never" on videos of kids being gross/annoying/misbehaving. It's their first time on earth and they're new to everything. Most of the time it's about something developmentally appropriate. They need guidance and empathy
they're just learning how to human
we can either help them become better, happier people or we can perpetuate the worst of what people can become. I believe practicing kindness, empathy, and love is how we make the future better, especially when interacting with the still-forming people who'll shape that future
and guess what? treating folks well helps make us better, too
