Lord Kuro had always been interested in court gossip. It was difficult for him to overhear hushed conversations without getting caught, but what he did hear was eagerly shared with his silent shinobi. After all, who better to confide in than someone who would take his lord's secrets to the grave?

The unspoken assignment was clear: where Lord Kuro could not eavesdrop without being revealed, Wolf could do so with ease. Thus, the shinobi returned at night with juicy stories of scandals among the nobles, machinations of the ministers, and the finance secretary's embezzlement of Hirata's funds.
