Rex is cradling a bloodied Everest in his arms, knelt to the ground for Everest's own comfort. A low, distorted growl builds in the supposed clone's throat as he glares at the source of Everest's pain — Saphira, an ally of the very people that initially killed him.

( @supervillain-offical wondering how Savi would react to seeing this— there's a portal outside the lair that links to one near the ashen woods )

Rex manipulates the flames to engulf himself. Scaled wings erupt from his back, the membranes catching sunlight like crimson-stained glass.

In less than an instant, the illusion of Rex is shattered.

Vulcan stands defensively, armor shining, empowered by Savi's fire.

One spark to light the match.

One match to start the wildfire.

"WHY YOU LITTLE— I HAD YOU KILLED CENTURIES AGO!"

"Well guess what, Saph? I lived. I saw everything. I'm not letting you kill Everest again."

"One kept me alive, but he wasn't able to let me go. All he could do was try. He cared more than any of them did. He was killed for being 'weak.'

"Another found me and did the same, though he didn't care. He would have killed me if I wasn't valuable. I spotted him outside the Endless Halls a couple nights ago, and had to fight him off."

Rex is cradling a bloodied Everest in his arms, knelt to the ground for Everest's own comfort. A low, distorted growl builds in the supposed clone's throat as he glares at the source of Everest's pain — Saphira, an ally of the very people that initially killed him.

Rex almost lashes out at Savi before he realizes who it is.

"You. Protect him. I'm going to kill this motherfucker I swear upon the Seven Suns—"

*doesn’t ask questions just nods, reaches for Everest and pulls him into his arms*

*puts up a force field around them*

Are-are you alright, precious?

Everest doesn't respond verbally, just leaning into Savi. He is... not looking good.

Rex, on the other hand, is going after Saphira. Despite having mellowed out, right now he is pissed.

Saphira instead targets the forcefield.

*softly pleading, runs a hand through Everest’s hair*

Ev…Ev I need you to talk to me…let me know you’re okay-

*looks to Saphira, eyes flash red, waves a hand and a circle of fire rises up outside of the force field*

Rex manipulates the flames to engulf himself. Scaled wings erupt from his back, the membranes catching sunlight like crimson-stained glass.

In less than an instant, the illusion of Rex is shattered.

Vulcan stands defensively, armor shining, empowered by Savi's fire.

One spark to light the match.

One match to start the wildfire.

Vulcan's tail lashes. He teleports behind Saphira, quickly drawing his sword to cut through her neck while she's stunned.

Once the goddess recovers from the shock, she puts her head back on.

"WHY YOU LITTLE— I HAD YOU KILLED CENTURIES AGO!"

"Well guess what, Saph? I lived. I saw everything. I'm not letting you kill Everest again."

*stares at Saphira, then the flames start getting more intense*

*turns back to Everest*

*softly, pulling him close*

It’s alright. I won’t let her hurt you.

Vulcan manages to actually kill her, flicking Saphira's cursed ichor off his blade once it's done.

"What a bitch..."

"I'm Vulcan, by the way. Never really introduced myself. Ev thinks I'm dead."

"He will. He's leeching off of my life force to heal, but I'll also be alright."

"Vulcan, kin of fire. Everest's elder brother. I doubt he still remembers me by now... I was the spark that made the flame — the war that took his life. This group of people, Illagers, decided to trap me.

"One kept me alive, but he wasn't able to let me go. All he could do was try. He cared more than any of them did. He was killed for being 'weak.'

"Another found me and did the same, though he didn't care. He would have killed me if I wasn't valuable. I spotted him outside the Endless Halls a couple nights ago, and had to fight him off."

"I don't fucking know. Eugh. Being Rex felt weird after a while. I don't know how Ev can tolerate his body. It feels constricting. Suffocating."

"Couldn't hear as much, I had to change my hair, my eyes changed, my teeth sharpened... I didn't have my wings, either. And I'm usually clean-shaven, but Rex had stubble! So itchy."

"I did it for him. I'll continue doing it for him. He won't remember this. He won't remember me."

"Do you see the state of him? He's barely awake, and only because I'm using magic to. He's got severe head injuries. I can't risk them getting worse because he passed out. He won't die, but I don't know what that could do to him. And... he's my baby brother, you know? I need him to be okay."

"I don't know. I have a couple potions, but... I don't know if they'll still work on him. He's physically changed."

"Okay, so... the Farlands. Dad— Helio is a Farlander, an anomalous being that popped up on the forum a whiiiiile back. An inverted Enderman with green OR blue eyes. Helio has both. Everest's eyes are blue. I am... not like him. I inherited most of my other parent's traits."

Everest tries to move a little closer to Savi, even though he's barely aware of anything around him.

Vulcan tosses a pink bottle at Everest. When it shatters, it produces swirling vapors in a small range. When it fades, they've stuck to Everest and now the air around him is producing them.

"Those swirls mean he has the effect. He'll heal relatively fast."

Sure enough, Everest's wounds stitch together on their own.

"You're good for each other. I will snap your spine if you hurt him, though."
