it takes a great amount of effort for her not to laugh, reaching up to push his hair from his face. but she's smiling all the same — a grin not quite so wide as his own crossing her face as she rolls her eyes. " you're practically insufferable, y'know that? " marienna replies, but there is no heat to her words. " you're so lucky you've got a pretty face underneath all that hair. "

                                 did  she  mean  to  impose   ?   no,  not  really.   admittedly,  she'd  been  there  some  hours  prior.   lost  in  the  moment   ;   enthralled  in  the  way  the  performers  beguiled  those  who  were  watching.   with  her  hand  running  along  the  silks,  isabelle  turns  her  focus.   much  like  before,  she's  (   still   )  entranced  by  the  tiefling.   a  certain   …   radiance  about  them  had  her  wanting  to  know  more.   funny,  how  the  mind  works.   just  a  flicker  of  a  moment,  and  yet  this  lavender   -   skinned  tiefling  has  been  lingering  in  the  back  of  isabelle's  mind.

a  smile,  dimples  and  all  (   !   )  embraces  her  face.   ‘   really   ?   ’   limerence  runs  over  forked  tongue,  her  tail  twitching  [   elated,  happy   ]  with  their  consent.   something,  deep  down,  provokes  isabelle  to  laugh   ;   encouraged,  stygian   -   stained  knuckles  wrap  around  the  silk,  body  curling,  contorting  around.   raised  on  the  poets  lament,  she's  familiar  to  this  life.   to  twisting  and  bending,  to  elongating  herself  until  the  unfurling  begins.   no  music's  needed,  yet  (   in  her  head   )  can  isabelle  hear  the  crowd.   a  false  applause  erupts  in  her  head,  leading  to  yet  another  𝒑𝒐𝒐𝒇  that  billows  silks,  that  leads  to  isabelle  standing  behind  the  tiefling  with  a  cheshire  grin.

‘   well   ?   ’   the  elafu'sari  huffs  with  a  laugh,  hands  at  her  hips,   ‘   whatcha  think   ?   ’   she  wants  [   oddly  enough   ]  their  approval.   wants  something  that's  so  obtainable,  yet  a  mystery  nevertheless   !   ‘   isabelle  vadas,   ’   she  extends  a  hand,  tail  flicking  about,   ‘   saw  y'  perform  today,  and  you,  darlin',   ’   a  big  ol'  toothy  grin  follows,   ‘   y'  are,  by  far,  the  most  attractive  creature  i've  ever  seen.   ’

a laugh bubbles up from his chest as he spins around to face her, a laugh that's loud and delighted and oh - so - interested. forked tounge darts out to lick their lips as red eyes trail down and up, up and down, over her and back again — it is both an informative sort of assessment and one just for his own amusement. molly lets loose an appraising whistle, spinning to face the elafu'sari with a pointed grin marring thier face. " breathtaking, truly, " he says, and as she extends her hand, it is all but proper for him to graps her fingers and press his lips to the back of her head, peering up at her with a grin. " mollymauk tealeaf, at yer service. if ya service is good entertainment, that is – or a reading of th' cards; i've been told i'm rather good at those. "

nothing conveys his surprise at her forthrightness than the way his tail momentarily freezes in its lashing motion, and then, the moment passes, and he's reaching out to tug her closer. their tail curls around her leg as their hands settle on her waist and their teeth gleam bright and sharp as they grin at her. " 'course ya do, darling, " he says with a bit of amusement in his tone, ducking down so that they're nose to nose with each other, " what's not to like? "

honestly, she probably wouldn't have noticed that she injured if the wizard hadn't pointed it out, and she really only does so after gorgug's ears have stopped ringing and her pulse has gone back to a normal, not-rage-inducing pounding of her heart. only after she's calm, do the words coming out of adaine's mouth reach her: 'gorgug, you're bleeding.' black eyes drop down to her shirt, blinking at the spreading stain of red. " huh, " she breathes, " that's new. "

gwen knows she isn't supposed to wander the castle at night, knows that if she's to go anywhere after the sun has set, it should be to ada and emme's room. but there had been a light in the library, and when the tiefling had found her older aunt there, she'd figured that auntie vesper would do just as well as ada and emme. her tail lashes at the arm the chair, somehow both distressed and intrigued, and she nods slowly. gwen murmurs, " had a dream that i was all alone in the dungeon. in that biiiig room under the sun tree ada told me and everyone else not to go in. and i couldn't get out. and no one would help me. and it was scary. As Gwen was the youngest of the de Rolo children, Vesper made time for her, even getting on the ground to play with dolls or running through the halls with her. Every aching bone during or after play reminded her how little time she had remaining with her nieces and nephews.

"The big room is very easy to get lost in. Even finding your way to it can be dangerous." Vesper smiled a little, letting Gwen know that she was neither in trouble nor in danger. "Sometimes dreams are only dreams. Your imagination running away with you, you know... It wasn't always a scary dungeon. Long, long ago it was where the Knowing Mistress was worshiped. Vesper left out any more mention of the Briarwoods or the Whispered One or why the children were not permitted to go there. There was little need to give Gwendolyn even more fuel for her nightmares.

"Do you want to know what book I'm reading?" Vesper brought the book she was nearly finished with into Gwen's lap. It had a beautiful illustration on the cover of red canvas, clearly a princess dressed in pink with a rather old fashion steeple silk hat with a veil flowing down from the point. She was clutching a rose to her breast, watching a young man, a prince presumably, climb up to her balcony.

the young girl nodded along to her aunt's words. the sun tree was very pretty, gwen thought, which meant that anything that resulted in the sun tree's growth couldn't really be that scary, could it? her eyes traveled down from vesper's face to the book in her hands, leaning close to peer at the cover. at seemingly the last second, she seemed to remember her horns existed and she leaned back as to not stab her aunt in the eye. " is it a fairytale? with princesses and dragons? " those were, of course, the very best kind.

‘   molly   …   ’   she  huffs  out  his  name,  her  fingers  toying  with  theirs.   ‘   gods,  y'  beautiful   …   ’   there's  a  quiet  moment  in  saying  so  that  torments  isabelle.   hells,  it  eats  at  her  until  she's  nose  to  nose  with  the  tiefling,  fingers  curling  into  his  hair.   ‘   …   i  might  be  fallin'  for  y'   …   ’   the  words  fall  forth,  tumbling  off  forked  tongue.   what  was  an  honest  confession  bridged  into  her  lips  pressing  to  theirs.   situated   —   almost  too  comfortably   —   on  his  lap,  isabelle's  lips  don't  seek  to  pause.   hells,  no  part  of  her  considers  what'll  happen.

in  fact,  there  isn't  a  thought  in  her  head.   not  as  her  tongue  (   forked,  pierced   …   definitely  a  means  to  torture  him   !   )  dares  to  claim  something  that  she  can't  put  her  finger  on.   no  reasonable  thought  seems  to  linger  there  until  isabelle  pulls  away,  forehead  butting  into  mollymauk's.   her  tail  twitches  around  theirs,  her  fingers  running  down  the  length  of  their  chest   [   all  those  scars   …   is  it  horrible  that  she  wants  to  lean  down  and  lick  the  wounds   ?   ]  before  her  stare  finds  theirs  once  more.   ‘   yup,   ’   she  pops  the  ‘   p   ’  with  a  grin,   ‘   definitely  fallin'  for  y'.   ’

" well, don't i have good news for ya, darlin', " lips meets hers readily; mollymauk's only been waiting for this exact moment for what feels like an eternity now, and this exact moment does not disappoint. their tail curls around isa's, their head tilts to deepen the kiss before she's pulling away and resting her forehead against his. vax swallows — the motion makes it so that he can acutely feel the weight of her hand against his throat, and dark eyes peer up at the elafu'sari currently straddling him. he can feel isa's tail wind its way around him, can feel the weight of her settle fully in top of him, can feel his own heart pounding in his chest. he reaches up, one handed, and tugs her down for a kiss, murmuring against her mouth, " whatever you want, bel, i'm all yours. "
