birthday surprises // jy & jh
A fluttery heart was unable to stop itself from racing, as hopeful words penetrated a thick skull. If seeing him, albeit in a stupid party hat, on his birthday, was enough to make him happy, then maybe — just maybe that meant something. “Well, of course, you’re going to see me that day. Birthdays are important, though mine is the most important, obviously. But you’re going to see me, with a cake made for you too. And my cakes are amazing, so you should look forward to that. …But I’d be cute in a party hat, right?” Sometimes, it was difficult to keep his words devoid of all sentimentality towards Junghwan, but he had been doing just that, for a very long time. And no crush would get in the way of the image he had worked so hard at to create, no matter how disgustingly cute his friend’s potential reaction might be, if he were to give in to such urges.
The show his younger friend offered him, in attempting to catch the lighter, was a delightful and entertaining one. It was rather annoying how the boy portrayed every ideal quality Jinyoung could find in a person, yet deep down, he knew that he was not the sort of person who dabbled in casual affairs. It was tragic, and he felt it in his bones, but feelings were not permanent, and he could only hope his suffering would be short-lived. Today was not that day though, as chills lined the spot on his back where coveted fingers graced it, and Jinyoung closed his eyes, in order to properly appreciate the way Junghwan’s voice sounded, when he sang. It was indeed silly, and any other time, he would have rolled his eyes and felt annoyed by the entire procedure, though now, his stomach flipped and his knees felt more akin to Jell-O than bones and flesh.
"T-thank you…" he muttered, blush rushing to his cheeks, and teeth gnawing at bottom lip. With a completely clear mind, he leaned in to blow out the candles adorning his birthday cake, only to have a single sentence invade it, as breath defeated the flames. I wish Junghwan would be my boyfriend. His back shot up, each and every atom, making up his entirety, tingling with a formerly unknown feeling. It seemed that his trip to hell would be a bit longer than he had formerly hoped. That word, never had Jinyoung thought it, without immediately rebuking it, or tasting acid on the back of his tongue. If said person was not here, the weight of the thought would surely cause Jinyoung to cry. But it was his birthday, and it was supposed to be a happy day, which it would remain. As awkward silence fell upon the two men, the elder escaped momentarily, coming back with knife in hand. “I’m not sure if I trust you with one of these—” he attempted to joke, holding it out to the other.
Laughter soon rings out with the male's words, and as always, unable to stop himself from appeasing Jinyoung when he responds. "I'll look forward to it! And- Oh, no, of course you'd be extra cute in a party hat! Bonus points if it's glittery or covered in stars, of course, though that's something you'd have to kinda.. cater to your tastes." Of course it remained unspoken that Junghwan always found his friend cute, even while they were stuck in that godforsaken Haunted House, the calmness and kindness displayed being nothing but endearing to the younger. While he might have gotten away with what he had said before, Junghwan knew he was pushing his luck with saying anything more, and the thought of scaring Jinyoung away is one that immediately douses those jittery feelings in his chest with cold water. It was the first time he had even developed a crush, and of course he would have the luck for it to be on one of his closest friends. To put it simply, it was terrifying, and the student found himself balancing carefully between trying to remain normal and the stupid swarm of butterflies making him blurt out insensibly. And given how bad he was for speaking before thinking... Well, he was trying to tread carefully.
Once the singing has finished, he gives a few quick claps and a loud cheer as the flames are diminished, plucking the candles out before melted wax can ruin his hard work. The silence afterward isn't something that he had expected, the awkward tension there something that he would love to break, and the question 'what did you wish for?' is already on the tip of his tongue, but now he only worries that he might somehow make it worse. The last thing he wanted to do was to dampen such an important day for the other, especially as someone of growing importance to him. Instead he waits until Jinyoung comes back, somewhat startled at the sight of the male brandishing a knife before taking it from him with extra care. Sharp objects in general tended to give him a sense of discomfort, but he had long since been used to that by now, and manages to offer an easy smile with the attempt to relieve whatever tension lingered between them, playfully chirping in response. "Of course you shouldn't. How do you know i'm not a serial murderer or something, huh? I might have moved here to get away from the fuzz."
Eyes fondly regard the other's for a moment longer before turning back to his handiwork, carefully cutting a slice he deemed large enough for the elder. Knife safely set aside, it's not until he looks back up that he realises Jinyoung is still hovering beside him, expression immediately becoming that of fond exasperation whilst attempting to shoo the taller male to go sit down. "Come on, i've got this! Go put your feet up, your royal highness." Words punctuated with laughter, he briefly hops into the kitchen to rummage for a plate, emerging with one not a few moments later to put the slice on, only to hold it out to the other with a small flourish. Thankfully it had help up well on the way there, so he could present it without feeling too embarrassed that he was unable to get him anything of higher quality, by now it was a case of mentally crossing his fingers that it would actually taste as good as his former attempts. Butterflies swarm in his stomach, any attempts to fight them down being found ineffective now he's faced with Jinyoung without distraction, swallowing thickly before words are stumbling from his lips. "If it isn't any good I can go and get another one, I mean-- I'm not sure about the whole wish... rules, but you might end up with an extra one? Kinda like a 2 for 1 kinda deal--"
[ / ; adventures in hair dyeing ] — ljh + jjy
Actually, I would have no problem with throttling you, if you messed up my hair, so… keep that in mind, while you’re up there, okay. And don’t talk about my hair falling out — you might jinx me, which would only be bad for you. ( / × of course, despite the violent tones of his words, Jinyoung is joking, because hurting the other is dead last on the list of things he’d like to do. for a moment, he wonders if he could conjure anything other than vapid anger, if Junghwan were to actually ruin his hair, which he has always considered one of his most important physical traits. and when a smile gleams in his vision, he realizes the answer is a loud, resounding no. thankfully, an audible squeak is enough to push those thoughts to the back of his mind, for later internal debating when he’s safely alone, and features crinkle together in concern. ) Are you just going through puberty? I’m not sure how to feel about wanting to kiss a twelve year old— ( / × he snorts to himself, finding his own wit highly amusing, though still bothered with the vague thought of what exactly had happened to his friend, to cause him to shriek in such a way. )
( / × then, he’s successfully distracted by fingers playing at his scalp once again. still astounded by the fact that something so simple could elicit a hurricane of emotions, Jinyoung closes his eyes, thinking back to long forgotten math formulas, anything, in order to keep his mind off digits teasing his tresses. the stimulating actions are something he questions, because why isn’t he using the brush, yet he doesn’t want to bring it up, and possibly make thing awkward. plus, there’s no denying the fact that there’s nothing else he’d rather be doing right now, not even minding the strange weight it’s putting on his stomach. ) No, I understand. I started dyeing my hair, after I graduated, in order to build up my confidence, though I know it’s probably difficult to imagine that I was ever not the charismatic person that I am today. But I think that you would look good in …any color, if you ever thought about doing something different. ( / ×unfortunately, the personal admission from the other does nothing to curb how endearing he finds him to be. in fact, it does the complete opposite and only intensifies just how utterly cute he found Junghwan to be, which might as well spell out disaster to Jinyoung. )
( / × he finds himself daydreaming about helping to clean Junghwan’s stained hands after everything is over. though this also brings up the thought of how he’ll handle himself, when it’s his turn to dye the other’s hair. of course, rubbing it into his hair personally is an enticing thought, but was that really the best move to make? not that Jinyoung is known for having good ideas, or for following through on his own advice. life could be so difficult sometimes. crushes were stupid. not that he had one, no, of course not. ) I’ve been practically every color under the sun, but red is something I come back to a lot. I think it suits me. Oh, you think so, huh? Maybe I’ll put on a dress sometime, just for you! ( / × oh god, please stop talking. )
[ / it's fair to say that he's come to filter a lot of what Jinyoung says in the 'joking' category, for a number of reasons. one, because... well, a lot of what he says is baffling. now for instance, implying that he wanted to kiss him. that had to be a joke, right? which leads to number two; even if it was honest, unlikely as it was, junghwan was fairly sure his heart would make an attempt to fly toward the roof, so.. it really was for everyone's safety that he continued. thankfully the question gives him another reason to splutter, immediately coming out to speak in his defense. ] No! That was years ago! [ / he lets out a playful huff, though that doesn't last for long, soon cracking into a playful grin as he glances at the elder's expression. ] Doesn't my masculinity give that away?
[ / he's careful not to let his eyes lower as he continues, adamant not to let himself become so flustered now that his friend could see him. it's probably for the best, letting him seem concentrated even whilst his mind wanders elsewhere. though once his friend continues speaking, his thoughts are brought to an easier line of direction, away from the strange feeling in his stomach and growing weight in his chest. ] Ouh... Do you think it's the hair colours that helped you? It's hard to imagine you having anything not to be confident about, if i'm honest-.. [ / cheeks draw a light pink with the admission, and the heat in them is something that confuses him. why would he be blushing after telling the truth? it must be the fumes, he decides, as though that would explain all of the new and unexpected feelings the male was drawing out of him. taking a small breath to recover himself, it's with a soft chuckle that he continues. ] Thanks, though. I thought about going blonde for a little while but... Mmmn. If I don't stick to one i'll end up going multicoloured, and I don't think anyone wants some kinda rainbow hedgehog out there.
[ / there's a moment where he's lost in what he's doing, fingers rubbing through now coated strands. it was just to make sure he hadn't missed a spot, or at least that was the excuse, though he wasn't sure how much longer he could carry on with it before Jinyoung got suspicious. reluctantly, they begin to withdraw, though any disappointment is soon eased with his older friend's words. despite what most people might be imagining with that statement, Junghwan just finds the thought too adorable to even be embarrassed about it, and he almost regrets helping Jinyoung dye his hair before that could maybe, possibly, on a blue moon, come true. practically beaming just at the thought, he gently pushes back the male's strands to stop red marks from staining pale skin, already crooning. ] You should! You would give Princess Peach a run for her money. You'll have to step away from pretty in pink now your hair has changed though.. [ / hands finally fully retreat, already mourning the loss of silky strands between them once giving Jinyoung the nod of approval. ] Okay, all done! I think it said to wait for 30 minutes?

4. Would they ever wish upon a falling star? If so, what would they wish?
Junghwan has always been the type to wish upon falling stars, though he rarely gets to, since they're quite hard to see out in the city a lot of the time. If he had the chance, there are several things he'd like to wish for, but the one at the top of his list would be to eventually find someone that makes him happy; that he can make happy just by being... him, and generally just being enough for someone out there.
23. Do they tend to rely on words or actions more?
answered here!
7, 17 and 24 ~
7. What about nature do they find calming? What about nature do they find disagreeable?
Despite many people not liking them, Junghwan likes overcast days, where the sky is grey and helps to soften how harsh the morning light can be for an overworked student. Though like many other people, being left in the dark is something he still finds discomforting, so the earlier hours of darkness found in the winter season often comes to be something he dreads.
17. Is there anything about their health they are continuously on edge about? Something they disregard?
There's several things; his diet since moving to uni, for one, often having to rely on instant ramyun to keep him full for days on end. Which does nothing to help the second, being sensitive of those extra layers of pudge he carries than most other people he comes across. Though being busy, with both work, studying, and some time to keep himself sane, there's none left for him to spend in 'hell' (a.k.a. excercising).
#24. Is there a certain scent that brings about nostalgia? If so, describe a memory this scent brings back.
Answered here and here!
14, 18, 23 and 24!
14. Explain how they portray feelings of hostility or dislike.
It's on a rare day that Junghwan actually has to express any sort of feelings, often preferring to cover them up with a sickly sweet and all too cheerful (very obviously fake) smile once faced with the person causing them. If it makes sense, he would much rather them not know that they've gotten under his skin, if only so they couldn't have the satisfaction.
18. Name at least two people who can trust them with their life.
- Myunghee, his little sister.
- Jinyoung, though admittedly he might not be quite aware of that.
23. Do they tend to rely on words or actions more?
answered here!
24. Is there a certain scent that brings about nostalgia? If so, describe a memory this scent brings back.
answered here! Though another one would be anything fruit-scented, always finding it comforting, and reminding him of the past few years where he had helped to run his parents greengrocers back in Busan.
answered a prompt thing on private by accident... oops. ╥ ╥
5. Describe how they would spend a stormy, overcast/rainy day.
If he had a day free from work, then without a doubt he'd spent the whole of it holed up indoors. With as many blankets and pillows as he could muster, and spend his time doing a movie marathon, pestering his friends with texts (mainly Jinyoung) or trying to find Surf in Pokemon Yellow. (He still can't do it.)
20. Describe a way to make them uneasy or apprehensive.
Without a doubt, it would be staring at him for excessive lengths of time. The effect is lessened if there's a smile or something seemingly friendly involved, but if someone's gaze lingers too long even that can be misinterpreted for a mocking or judgmental gesture.
23. Do they tend to rely on words or actions more?
In most instances Junghwan relies on words more, often babbling his mouth off until someone tells him to be quiet. Though when it comes to being affectionate he would rather rely on actions such as hugs or hair ruffling than words, as he knows all too well how loose-tongued he can be if he's not careful.

10. Describe a thought or dream that would cause them to have a mental meltdown.
The thought of being left entirely alone is more than enough to do the job. Just imagining one person he cares about turning their back on him is already enough for anxiety to claw at his stomach and seep through his system, let the thought of losing his family, or his friends, something that can easily leave him in pieces on the wrong day.
19. Describe a way that will earn affection (whether platonic or romantic) from them.
It’s relatively easy for anyone to earn Junghwan’s affection, most of the time they barely have to do a thing, but the easiest way for someone to earn themselves it would most likely be having a playful/positive attitude. The easier they are to play and laugh around with, the more affection they are bound to earn themselves, simply by distracting him from normal day-to-day worries. Of course if that’s not available, food is also always a sure way to his heart.
24.Is there a certain scent that brings about nostalgia? If so, describe a memory this scent brings back.
There are several, but the ones that provide him with the most nostalgia is probably the scent of crushed pepper, taking him back to the time his sister thought the pepper grinder was entertaining and decided to use it right over his cereal while his back was turned. He couldn’t touch the stuff again.
In Depth Headcanon Prompts; Set 1
Are there any recent/daily thoughts they have about death or dying?
Do they believe for every darkness there is a lightness? If not, why?
Name one thing about the way their emotions work that they despise.
Would they ever wish upon a falling star? If so, what would they wish?
Describe how they would spend a stormy, overcast/rainy day.

Their drinks quickly came and without any pauses, the male wrapped his fingers on both cups before leading them to an empty table, just listening to his friends while at it. “Well, that’s good news. You don’t want to get out of here drenched in your own drink if you leave me out.”, an honest, sincere chuckle ended his sentence. In all honesty, Shin was feeling pretty lonely on his shitty day so it was a miracle the little duck came along. No matter how harsh his words were, it always seemed that the other male could actually see the inner meaning to it. He placed down the cups on an empty table near the wall before he sat down on one seat, leaving the other seat across him for his friend. “Don’t worry. If that bounds to happen, I’ll just hire you to be like a personal photographer. Just try not to sell my private pictures to my fans or your job isn’t the only thing that’s gonna get cut.”
Even the thought of Junghwan being able to make... anyone swoon is something that just seems entirely ridiculous. In his eyes, he just wasn't that guy. That kind of guy needed the looks, dazzling smile and charming personality. Things he knew too well that he wasn't in possession of. But Junghwan was okay with that. Was completely happy without people falling at his feet. After all, even if he couldn't make people's hearts leap out from their mouths like they do in the cartoons, he could still make them laugh, which seemed like an entirely more pleasant experience. Still, he couldn't just give up here, when there was still the slightest chance that he might triumph. He lights up in an overly-bright smile, not entirely able to keep the laughter from lacing his voice when he replies. "Consider what? You mean there's actually a chance at getting us that ceremony? You never told me you felt that way, hyung-" The words trail into actual laughter, though it doesn't stop the student from trying to stifle it, the back of his hand lifting to somewhat muffle the sounds.
"Are you underestimating Robin? Huh? He might be... Okay, he's kinda useless a lot of the time. But he always manages to find Batman! There's a reason that he's kept around the place, y'know?" He follows Shin toward the other end of the counter, regardless of the point that he should probably have checked to see if there was a table free for the two of them, preferring to keep his older friend company instead. Junghwan never knew how to make sure that his gratitude was known to the elder, and despite how recklessly he might act, he didn't want to just sling the male into a hug if the contact made him uncomfortable. Instead, once watching the other hand over the money, he ignores the guilt flashing up, offering a friendly smile and playful roll of his eyes instead, before piping up once again. "It's a good thing you're stuck with me now. Thinking Robin wouldn't be able to find you-.. Just what kinda secret hideout do you expect your kidnappers to have, huh? Think i'm gonna let them keep you tied to a train track or somethin' like that?"
Once their drinks arrive, despite his earlier reluctance to give it a shot, he can't help from give Shin a brief one-armed hug, the action lasting no longer than a second or two before thanking the server and grabbing some sugar. "You're making it sound like it's that easy to get rid of me. If you do that, i'll just have to make it even and let you nurse my burns back to health. So... really, you'd only be sentencing yourself to more of this favourite face of yours." Happily following along, he takes the seat opposite him before beginning to stir the sugar into his drink, easy laughter bubbling up past his lips whilst he responds. "Sure thing! I'll film your memoirs for you too if you want. Or the documentary, whichever one takes your fancy. We could probably get a decent photoshoot out there for your next calendar, too-- Get the fans going crazy in time for the holidays 'n all of that."
birthday surprises // jy & jh
It was truly a rare moment, if Jinyoung happily accepted a small, sentimental gift, as opposed to huffing in disappointment, at not receiving something he deemed more worthy. But he felt it with Junghwan. Despite having a rather close companionship, he never expected for the other to actually get him something, let alone make him a cake, which apparently he only ever did for his sister. It was enough to make the egotistical male feel even more special, which would usually be thought impossible, especially on this certain day. That much is certainly a sign of terrible things to come for the person, who refused to allow himself to care for another, but it’d have to dealt with another time, because he wasn’t going to turn his friend away, when he went to all the trouble of giving him a gift. “I’m sure it tastes fine, dummy— I’ll have to make you one for your birthday now!” And even if Junghwan disapproved of the idea, Jinyoung had already decided that that was exactly what he’d do. If he hadn’t already fallen for him by that time, then that would definitely do it. Wait… no…
Attempting to push any of those sort of thoughts out of his head, the red-haired male was grateful for the distraction that came in the form of Junghwan (he wouldn’t even allow himself to become distraught by the fact that the boy was the one who caused such mental images in the first place). He snorted at the box of candles sitting on top of his cake, not having blown them out for a long time, simply for the fact that he didn’t have anything to wish or long for. Things certainly wouldn’t be any different this time, but of course, he’d play into the younger’s cute game, since was a pushover for him. Placing the cake on top of the table, Jinyoung left for the kitchen to root around in a drawer for his abandoned lighter, from the days where he attempted smoking, in order to ‘seem cool’ (it didn’t work out). He tossed it to Junghwan, because he was certainly not doing any sort of monotonous task on his birthday. “Lucky for you, I won’t make you rub sticks together today.”
As soon as the offer is voiced, Junghwan can't even attempt to hide his surprise, not having even expected that Jinyoung would try to return the favour. Normally, the student wouldn't even care about his own birthday all that much, only really recognising it as another time where the family would bombard him with loud singing and congratulations. But the thought of it being Jinyoung to care about his birthday one day, some day, now that was enough to make him look forward to it. Just the idea of being able to spend the occasion together with the person responsible for the fluttering in his chest, or the one person he can't even think about without a stupidly goofy smile, is way more than enough to excuse the older from returning the favour. Lips curl into a grateful smile regardless, chuckles bubbling up past his lips whilst managing to respond. "Of course you don't have to! Honestly, just- Just getting to see you would be enough to make me happy." His words trail off almost sheepishly, embarrassment flooding his system once realising just how obvious he must sound. He begins to turn away so he can slip his shoes off, hoping that the flush on his cheeks would remain hidden whilst attempting to recover the impression he might have left. "I mean, you'll have to wear a party hat, so you won't be getting off too easily--"
Thankfully it seemed he'd be given more time to recover than expected, once hearing that the elder had moved into the other room. He pats at his cheeks a little, trying to regain some sense of normality so he could keep it together. Though that was certainly easier said than done, considering this was the first time Junghwan had ever had so much as a crush, let alone having to try and appear like no such thing was happening. Even if the younger had come to terms with what was happening, that didn't mean he was planning on acting on them; knowing all too well that getting to keep Jinyoung's company was much more precious than what he hoped to be fleeting feelings. The lighter flying in his direction soon tugs him out from his thoughts, fumbling the catch with no small amount of flailing before finally managing to get it safely in his palm. Laughter is soon to slip from him, making his way to start putting the candles in the cake, needing a couple of attempts each to light them all. Once done, he sets the lighter aside and hops behind the older male, hands on his back guiding him to stand in front of the cake, before finally swallowing down whatever nerves were flying up his throat to start cheerily singing. "Happy Birthday to youuuu~ Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear Jinyouuuuung... Haaaappy Birthday to you~!"
birthday surprises // jy & jh
Having Junghwan, of all people, tell him that his birthday is indeed important does nothing to curb the smile that had settled across his already susceptible to joy features. He even went so far as to cover up the lower half of his face with his palm, in case he happened to burst into a full-wattage smile, which he couldn’t stand, because of his unsightly gummy smile. Its presence was a mystery to most, and he certainly wanted to reveal it to the younger least of all. But it was difficult to contain around him anyway, especially when he was feeding into his needy desires. “Yeah, though it’s a lot better now that you’re here. And no, I wasn’t doing anything!” Sure, that was a lie, but as long as Junghwan didn’t find out and question him about it, it would be fine.
Fox-shaped eyes remained on the other, as he sputtered adorably, then fumbled out of his line of sight for a few moments. When he returned, box in hand, Jinyoung’s heart lurched painfully. Never had he expected for the boy to actually get him something. A blush began to bloom across pale cheeks and mouth went dry, as he took his gift. He sucked on the inside of his lips for a few seconds, in an attempt to drive down racing emotions. But once he opened the box and saw what was inside, it only became that much more worse. “D-did you make this? No one’s… ever baked me… anything before,” he murmured, lips twitching upwards at the corners into a small, sincere grin. He baked his dad a cake every year for his birthday, but he never thought that someone would go out of their way to do it for him. “Thank you… really. This means a lot to me,” it was odd for Jinyoung to allow himself to be open with Junghwan, yet he couldn’t help it in this particular moment. After a few moments of sentimental silence and gazing, he slid back, so that the other may enter, without bothering to ask if he actually wanted to, or not.
As soon as Jinyoung actually takes the box nerves are soon to flood Junghwan's system, worrying that he might not actually like it. What would he do if he didn't? He could always go and buy a replacement he supposed, though it would probably mean having to give up his day off for the week in order to afford everything else going out of his account. But whatever Jinyoung didn't know wouldn't hurt him, right? An apology is already formed on the tip of his tongue by the time that the elder only so much as peeks inside, and it takes a great deal of what little courage he has to glance up at the reaction. Once seeing a familiar grin though, all tension seems to leave his shoulders with a single sigh of relief, airy chuckles escaping afterward whilst nodding. "Mhmm! I hope it tastes alright, uh-.. I've only ever made them for my sister before, and she'll eat anything, so it's kinda hard to... tell." Fingers rub at his nape nervously, offering a bashful grin in response to the elder's reaction, grateful that that much had gone well at least.
"You don't have to thank me, honestly! I'm happy to do it for you." And it was true. Even if it did take a couple of attempts to get one out looking that okay, his flatmates were definitely enjoying the failures, and his efforts were more than worthwhile if it meant getting to see the male made happy from something so small. Actually, it's more than worth it just for that last reason alone. Junghwan is just pleased to have made his day even the slightest bit better, so he all too easily accepts the invitation inside and draws the door closed behind him. Rooting around in his pockets now he was indoors, he finally manages to fish out a small pack of multicoloured candles, propping them on top of the box with a small hum. "Also those, so you get to make your wish. I couldn't find the matches, so if you don't have a lighter or anything we might have to light them up caveman style instead-.."
birthday surprises // jy & jh
For as long as he could remember, Jinyoung has always believed his birthday to be a truly important day. Of course, it mostly had to do with an overly spoiling parent, but even on his current twenty-third year of living, that feeling remained the same. When he first started school, it came as a shell shock to find that not everyone felt the same as he did, in fact, he was extremely offended that most of his classmates treated his birthday, not as a holiday, but as a regular day. Thankfully, all his friends, in his adult age, played into his delusions, and allowed himself to believe that he was truly the most important person on the planet, when his birthday rolled around.
So when November 18th rolled around, he had garnered many plans for the evening, but immediately canceled them all, once a knock and a cheery voice, that could only belong to one person, sounded at his door. Of course, the boy, he had developed a high level of affection (but not a crush) for, was the one person he truly wanted to spend his birthday with, but despite his repeated mentionings of the day, Junghwan never seemed to take the bait. Knowing now that the other actually hadn’t forgotten and actually cared, it made his heart race faster than it ever had before. Unable to contain his wide, bright grin, Jinyoung swung the door open, beaming at his friend, not even caring about the lack of a present in his arms, “You remembered!” Arms wrapped the sunshine-incarnate male up into a tight hug, only letting go, once the realization that he was being far too affectionate hit him.
Once the sound of a lock turning is heard, hands are soon to pull themselves away from their stations, not actually wanting to deafen the male on the other side of the door. Especially not on his birthday, the poor guy. It's not even a second later that he's face-to-face with the male in question, Junghwan automatically lighting up in the brightest smile he had to offer before slinging himself into a close-knit hug. "Of course I remembered, silly! It's an important day!" Even once the other has let go, Junghwan simply loosens his grip instead, resolutely refusing to mourn the loss of yet another good hug on such a happy occasion, and instead letting his hands tap excitedly against toned shoulders. "Are you having a good day so far? I didn't come at a bad time or anything, right? It's just, I had to come over now because--"
Stupidly, he realises he was about to give away the surprise before actually... giving the surprise. Lips remain parted for a second mid-speech before cracking into a sheepish grin, motioning for the male to wait for a second whilst he gathers the box from it's designated hiding space. Standing upright once again, he carefully balances it upon a knee to peek and make sure the contents don't look like one big failure for mankind, only to happily offer it out to the older male a few seconds later, the music for a completed quest running through his head. "Happy Birthday, hyung! I'm sorry it's not much considering, but... It's the thought that counts, right?" Junghwan hoped that was the truth in any case, because now he was faced with Jinyoung, it sunk in all the more how much he actually deserved to be given. The thought filled him with a strange sense of guilt, that he couldn't do more for his friend, and he could only hope that was kept from his remaining smile.

Considering it was short notice, Junghwan feels as though he did a pretty good job with the box' contents. With it being the week of his next rent installment, and having to keep money tucked away for travelling home this Christmas, there wasn't much wriggle room in what he could spend on his older friend. Of course if he could, he would spend quite a bit on the elder; but as it is, Junghwan is just grateful that the ingredients for baking were relatively cheap. It might have taken a few failed attempts, but it was worth it in the long run now there was a fairly decent looking cake in the picture. Even if it wasn't the best present in the world it was at least something, but crush or not, in the student's mind everyone deserved to blow out candles and make a wish on their birthday.
Surprises, however, were also needed on occasions such as these. Thankfully there was an old lady kind enough to buzz the door open for him when the situation was explained, Junghwan now free to hop up the stairs and give a surprise home visit. For the safety of the cake, and so it wouldn't get smushed in the inevitable bone-crushing hug that would happen the moment he laid eyes on Jinyoung, the box is set safely beside the door instead - out of view. Knuckles rap loudly on the door, his other hand persistently ringing the bell to make sure Jinyoung couldn't ignore him. "Special delivery for the birthday boy! Hyuuuuuuuuung, c'mon! Open up! Time's awastin'!"
☮ ⌘ ✿
☮: is my muse a happy person?
Overall Junghwan is very happy, after all he has a loving family and close friends, but there are still the occasional days when his money situation gets down on him a little too hard and he gets under the blue. Though thankfully, they never last for much longer than a few fleeting days.
⌘: was my muse good in school?
Even though Junghwan was a good student, he wasn't good in school in terms of grades, and it took months of struggling and extra cram studying to keep up an average grade.
✿: is my muse an outdoors person?
Normally he'd rather stay indoors, often too lazy to go outside and do anything requiring a lot of effort. Though once he's outside he doesn't mind it so much, it's just getting him out there.
♈♍♎
♈: the most daring thing your muse has ever done:
Daring isn't really a word most people would use for Junghwan, though climbing onto the roof of his house when he was 16 would probably take first place, when a cousin suggested 'extreme catch' during a bout of pure boredom.
♍: is my muse shy?
In most instances Junghwan is completely fine and outgoing, happy to talk easily to whoever he encounters. But like most people, when placed in an embarrassing or uncomfortable situation for him, the normally loud and unrestrained male ends up shying away from whoever he's with.
♎: is my muse vain or cocky?
Not in the slightest. Of course, he's happy to joke and pretend if the situation calls for it, but in most instances he tends to avoid reflecting on himself too much.
