With that said, I can only think how she used the same excuse of "viability" in her argument of season 2 of Helluva Boss being scattered and poorly managed. You can't undo your first seasons and after seeing both Helluva Boss season 2 and Hazbin season 1, I think we can safely say this is a cop out from Medrano. This is a repeated excuse she hopes can give her some kind of grace after spectacularly failing her audience. And this usually comes with the additional "this was planned in advance" showing a complete lack of creative authenticity because instead of adapting the story and reworking her show to better tell a story, she wasted everyone's time.

Even if you give her all the benefit of the doubt, this is still someone who didn't adapt her narrative to fit her limitations in a way that worked both as a stand-alone story and a continuation. We were robbed of character for a narrative that demanded deep character work and a first season focused solely on setting up the world and major conflicts in Hell with Heaven being a distant plot point.

You start the series in the aftermath of Heaven's purge and you now have a narrative excuse to ignore them: the purge happens once a year and it just happened two weeks ago. You never needed to speed up the extermination to 6 months in the first season, you could have spent the entire first season on how the Hotel and the characters interact with each other and the world outside. We could have spent season 1 with the Vs as the main villains to keep the scale small.

That's basically writing 101.

But that also now opens the door to the conspiracy that Medrano never intended to be Indie at all. The fact that she kept claiming time constraints over the last 2 years for her shows makes it feel like maybe Helluva Boss was never indie in the first place.

There's a real possibility now, based on her saying that Helluva Boss' first two seasons just needed to get "slogged through", that even on YouTube, this wasn't ever Indie. It sounds like she had a secret deal in the background over producing a certain number of their own episodes in exchange for being bought out if they succeeded.

Which explains her actions as a director and creator not reworking her second season after the response to the first: she was rushing to get it done knowing at the end she was going to get paid for her IP.

And while I'm not saying that was what happened, that now becomes a valid interpretation of this circus.

Vivienne, didn't you just post about your show getting the Broadway treatment? Weren't you just in Japan on a trip to see the maid Cafe and popup shop for your characters? Why are you bitching about work? You got it made, Viv.

When Viv's living the life her fans could only dream of and she has the gall to complain about how much work this is.

She CHOSE to jump right into making a show and running a studio and now it's catching up with her. This type of shit is why you work a few storyboarding or design jobs in the industry before becoming a show runner so you get a feel for how it works as well as getting advice from your boss, a show runner, on how to be one when and if you get your own show.

Zero sympathy.

This is just something I personally think, but Vassago’s usage of Spanish in court is the moment that feels the most like it’s out of a fanfic for me.

I’m not a Spanish-speaking person, but I will say that from my experience as a non native English speaker, most people who speak in other languages outside of English just don’t use it around people they know that cannot understand them and try not to mix it with English.

Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong though.

Felt very shoed in. You can easily cut out the swearing Spanish portions and you wouldn’t miss much since the important dialogue is in English. It would be one thing if the rest of characters canonically knew Spanish and talked in that language but they don’t.

When Vassago is speaking in Spanish, nobody acknowledges it and immediately move to the next topic. Even Andrealphus highkey looked confused at what he was saying and it doesn’t help that Vassago was invading his space.

Who is Limus and what's their deal? Isn't it the person that made Alex Brightman sign something criticising Angel's portrayal?

The Alex Brightman signature situation was her biggest drama at the time along with beefing with Sai scribbles and arguing with Hazbin Hotel fans or other users on Twitter (for whatever reason). Limus is (or was) a rising YouTuber who made analytical media reviews or animation/video game commentary videos on whatever topic that interests with her.

I'm not sure how long after GlitchX that Glitch partnered with Lackadaisy instead, but if Spindle ever partnering with Glitch was an option Viv considered that probably shut the door on it

Viv trying to be goose’s best friends throughout that entire livestream is really pathetic but it also gives an idea, and into the mindset of someone who can make you feel like you’re their best friend; aka an abuser. I’m not at all shocked that a lot of you ex friends and employees all believed like viv was their best friend and would never hurt them when you can see plain as day how she made them feel important and special. Through out that entire panel. She gave so much attention to goose fawned and adored over goose and goose either being professional or not comfortable with the attention viv kept giving them, didn’t reciprocate, and actually gave they’re attention to Tracy, someone they know viv doesn’t like.

It's always nice to see someone not falling for Viv's routine, and doubly so when it's someone who's more talented, successful, and has a more popular indie show.

I get what she's talking about but I know what she's doing. Viv is veiling this as Meppity being some nobody artist when she (Meppity) has been working in the industry for a bit now.

This woman is just... what is it with her? I know we shouldn't speculate but the way she acts just screams insecurity.

And from what I heard, it was good natured so I guess this makes it official. Vivienne Medrano can't take any criticism. She acknowledges it, usually to bitch about getting it at all.

Plus the way she runs Spindlehorse, taking her inner circle to extravagant vacations only to flaunt it on Social Media.

Being on breaks is fine, healthy even, but to show it off on social media when you are one of the lucky ones who can afford these luxuries such as Broadway shows, dozens of films per year, travelling abroad (the places she goes to without being asked to in the name of an event/festival/con), being able to afford a fucking break in the first place, and going to theme parks/attractions.

Not everyone can afford a break, Viv. She's just lucky her show got picked up and as a result, She's privileged enough to never deal with the rest of us have to deal with. Maybe i'm wrong, but the way she spends her money is very telling.

And then she is all like "Oh I love how Instagram is. It's like a time capsule."

Vivienne, you can have your photos saved on your phone without uploading it onto a public platform for EVERYONE to see and feel even worse about the state of the economy. It just seems like these destinations and events are just you flexing your money...

This isn't the only way to save photos/videos. SD cards exist cuz I have one.

And it spills into how she writes rich people as well, Stolas is portrayed as an uwu depwession baby, Ozzie and Bee are "actually nice" despite neither of them address how their rings are run, Lucifer is a big depression joke, and idk if the overlords count...

The only rich assholes I think are Stella and Andre, Mammon, and Crimson (and the Von Eldriches if they ever show up).

Either she is that tone deaf and insecure, or she just doesn't care.
