The last thing this game series is, is over-appreciated.
Throughout each game you are sent on a journey with your friends, or friends you make along the way. The characters see each other for who they fully are as people; the good and the bad and definitely the ugly.
Persona 4 does this in a very obvious, beautiful way by having each character battle their “shadow self”.
Each character is forced to have their deepest darkest secrets spread on television, and what’s worse is that their friends are subjected to their even darker thoughts upon meeting these shadows.
What’s so beautiful about this, is that the friendships are made stronger by this, not weaker.
I don’t want to reveal my darkest secrets to you all, but I think the thought that anyone could care for someone so much that they even love their darkness, is beautiful.
I was friends with a group of people for the last 10 years, since high school and throughout college. They were my family, the people I trusted and loved the most, even more than my blood relatives. The people I ran to when I had no where else to go, and the people I boasted about when I was living halfway across the country.
”My Family.”
Through a series of events I found out they weren’t the people I thought they were. It shattered my heart and I was left alone to think...
Does unconditional love, especially in friendships, really exist?
Can you truly be that close to people, having them know your worst thoughts, and still be accepted?
So far, in my life, it seems like something I could only play in a video game or see in an anime.
But I still truly believe with all of my heart that we as a human race can accept and love each other, even in our not so best moments.
We are capable of loving peoples flaws, their hatred and their darkness.
Because, at the end of the day, it’s what makes us who we are.
Loyalty to your friends shouldn’t stop at the door to darkness.
And in Persona 4, they overcome and battle these feelings together.
These teenagers, teenagers, are hearing their friends darkness tell them these horrible things about them, things they really do feel somewhere deep in their heart, and what’s their reaction?
To love their friend even more.
Loyalty to your friends is one of the most important lessons in life I think anyone should learn.
Understanding someone when they’ve fallen off their course, hugging them when they’re screaming, taking their hand and helping them laugh when they can’t... that’s the kind of friendship we should all be after.
We should all aspire to be better for our friends... for our family, because that’s what we are supposed to be.
Family.
And family doesn’t abandon one another in their darkest hour.
Persona taught me how ok it is to be me.
Everyone may not like me, and some people may even hate me, but I love me, and I want to love my friends with all of my unconditional love and trust.
I just wish I could find those people.
I know they’re out there somewhere.
They’re out there for all of us, and we all deserve to be loved.
If you’ve already found your family... I am so happy for you.
Hold on to them.
Don’t let them go.
Don’t let their darkness take them over, help them through it.
Trust is difficult.
Love is simple.

"Cosplay does not mean having to look identical to a character. It is bringing a character to life with your own characteristics and awesomeness. Please remember, many characters are 2-dimensional. So, the only way to achieve perfect accuracy would be by photoshopping yourself or falling asleep on a train track. Neither sound very much fun to me."
