It would be incredible if family members asked me to explain my POTs when im not actively passing out. I can explain it when im not knee deep in brain fog hell
"I am not a vessel for your good intent" goes hard as a line from a disabled perspective. Abled people care so much more about being their idea of a good ally than they do actually being a good ally. They shove their good intent right down your throat and then act surprised when you tell them they're suffocating you.
[ID: An image of a sign with a blue background and with a graphic of a stick figure in a wheelchair at the beginning, resembling disabled parking space signs. The text below the stick figure reads "I am not a vessel for your good intent." /ID]
This.
Being mentally and physically ill at the same time is so fun its like taking hit damage all the time and looking like that one meme of deranged squidward 99% of the time
Sometimes interacting with abled people really is just like:
"I'm disabled."
"Ok I understand."
"So I'm unable to do the thing."
"I don't understand why you're not able to do the thing."
"It's because I'm disabled."
"Right."
"So I am not able."
"Right."
"I'm unable to do the thing."
"Why aren't you able to do the thing though?"
"That is one of the things I'm UNable to do due to my DISability."
"Seems like you could do the thing if you wanted."
"I want to, I wish I could do the thing."
"Great! So you can do the thing."
"No."
"You just said you wanted to do the thing."
"I'm disabled whether I want to do things or not."
"Could you want to do the thing... more?"
My body needs to stop doing that (strange illness things that aren't explained by my other conditions)
"Im gonna go lay down soon i have a migrane"
30 seconds later
"Man you look bad are you ok where are you going"
My MCAS has decided it doesnt like cucumbers right now. What if I screamed
The screaming of a guy who just bought the Costco multi pack of cucumbers btw

Having a flair up and the world starts to look like ive got 30 secs left to solve a saw trap

Oooo we are mayhem does look like a good book! I mostly read like fantasy and historical stuff but i looked it up and liked the description! I'm trying to read more lately, even though it's not really working. I'm glad you liked it!
Hell yeah!! Honeslty i feel like any reading is good even if its not a lot :) im a big advocate for just reading whatever seems fun, because at least your reading. Plus going to my local library means I get to chat with the librarians and stuff :) I figure if im reading im not on social media which is 100% a win for me
How it feels to be queer & disabled:
July 1st! You know what that means!
And start being DISABLED
This disability pride month I'm BEGGING you to acknowledge and care about the people in this community who often fly under the radar when it comes to positivity and information. People who require equipment to live, like ventilators, pacemakers, and feeding tubes. People who are bedbound. People with visible differences. People who have disabilities caused by things like substance abuse, overdose, or self harm. People with conditions so rare that they've never met someone who has the same one. People who need full time care and have to have help to use social media.
If you want to support the community, that means supporting all of the community. Disability pride means being proud of every last one of us, and making sure everyone feels heard. Make sure to amplify the voices of those who need it this month, and ideally for the rest of the year too.
I don't love my disabilities because they make my life astronomically more difficult in every aspect. But I have disabled pride, because I'm still thriving in a world that would rather I not exist, and I'm carrying on and choosing joy every moment of everyday. For this, I'm a badass who deserves to be proud.
I can walk again fuck yeah !!
