Conservatives blame feminism when it is the extreme wave of reactionary misogyny making women rethink motherhood. This is a common refrain from a lot of childfree women, if they just listened to them, but they won’t.

women: a lot of men in my generation straight up hate women and it makes finding a suitable life partner very difficult. I do not feel safe enough to think of starting a family. I do not want to be permanently entangled with/dependent on a man who treats me like shit.

men: we need to hate women more and make them more unsafe and more dependent on us. this will certainly improve the birth rate. everyone knows that frightened and deeply unhappy women are the most fecund.
