I am actually very angry and upset. I was watching a Tik Tok compilation of this one meme, and they did two (2) about Chris Watts and Shanann Watts.

the trend was just like a sad break up or death, story put to music of "we used to be best buddies, now we're not, I wish you would tell me why" and the fact that I saw multiple about Chris and Shanann is DISGUSTING. HE MURDERED HER AND HER CHILDREN!!! YOU ARE A RANDOM STRANGER ON THE INTERNET!!! YOU CAN'T JUST A MAKE A LIL FANCAM TIK TOK ABOUT A MAN WHO KILLED HIS ENTIRE FAMILY!!! Native Women's Association of Canada launches interactive MMIWG map

Users will also be able to enter more information about cases

The Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) is launching an interactive map of cases of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls to collect data and help identify patterns of violence in geographic areas.

The project is called Safe Passage.

“Every day I talk to moms that have lost their children and they can’t find them,” said Lynne Groulx, NWAC’s CEO.

She said that as a mother herself she can’t imagine not being able to find the remains of her child.

The final report of the national inquiry into missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls found a significant lack of data on cases.

Indigenous ppl have literally been pointing out that oil, gas, and logger workers have been the primary perpetrators of violence against two spirit and indigenous women, contributing largely to mmiw. As the article points out, this doesn't just happen in Canada, but all over the world. People need to realize that resource extraction doesn't just lead to environmental destruction, but the incarceration of land defenders (usually indigenous people), and disturbingly high rates of violence against locals.

Just for the record Zodiac Killer hasn't been officially identified as Gary Poste! A highly questionable group of retired investigators calling themselves "the Case Breakers" claims that they've solved the case but it seems they don't have actual strong evidence, no one actually working on Zodiac case has announced anything, and almost no reputable source is reporting this. Currently it seems like a bunch of bullshit

recently saw a tiktoker talk about an ongoing case and say (direct quote) “we are literally watching a true crime documentary unfold before our very eyes” and that really sums up a lot of the criticisms I have about the way people talk about and consume true crime content. people are already twisting real peoples deaths into its potential future entertainment value for them before the family even has time to grieve

I hope the family of Morris Black, Susan Berman and Kathleen McCormick find some sort of peace or sense of justice with the conviction of Robert Durst. I'm sure it would've been a lot nicer if he was put on trial for the death of Kathleen, but due to lack of evidence, I hope his current conviction helps a little

anyways, what are your guys thoughts on true crime YouTubers? some I find pretty good, other are just very disrespectful and clearly don't put in enough research and effort into what they're covering. Sadly, I have trouble finding ones that I enjoy, any recommendations?
