BEST COMEBACK EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me
This is why god doesnāt talk to us
i want to die
There is nothing pure enough in the world that can save me from reading this
Very feelio
ānot all copsā
I work in a non-restraint facility for special needs kids (21 and under) with extreme behavioral issues. Iām talking real violent stuff. Sixteen and twenty-one year old boys who can (and do) home-run swing desks at your head.
As a non-restraint facility, we are trained to respond to these outbursts in the most non-threatening, non-confrontational way possible, while still protecting both the bystanders and the person currently attacking us.
We are monitored every second of our shift to make sure the safety and dignity of our clients is maintained, especiallyāand just let me emphasize thisāthe safety and dignity of the person attempting to hurt us. Their right to be treated fairly and with empathy is not forfeit just because their brain chemistry fucked them up today.
We have to be calm, regardless.
We have to be gentle, regardless.
We can never respond with any kind of force, ever.
Those rules apply to all the staff, all the time, no matter what.
So when I hear bullshit about how somebody āreached for their waistbandā or they were āresisting,ā when I hear yet another police officer got off because the situation was āscaryā or heĀ āfeared for his safetyā or whatever the fuck, I lose my shit.
You wanna talk about how you were frightened for your safety, walking up to someone in the middle of a psychotic episode? Yeah, well, Iāve been there. Pretty regularāprobably twice a week, at leastāno gun, no taser, with guidelines that state I cannot even use my fucking thumb because thatās considered āgrabbingā and therefore a ārestraint.ā
And you know what? Iāve walked away from every one of those. I havenāt died. Iāve never even been seriously injured. We defused the situation in ways that didnāt involving riddling the other participant with bullets and at the end of the day, everyone went home. Go fucking figure.
And yetāand fucking yetāI keep hearing ānot all cops.ā
āNot all copsā are bad. āNot all copsā shoot innocent people .3 seconds after rolling up on the scene. āNot all copsā are racist fuckbags, misusing power for a personal joyride. āNot all copsā rape people at gunpoint (and get off scott-fucking-free).
Yet, at my place of employment, somehow everyone is calm in a crisis. Somehow everyone responds to violence with non-violence. Somehow everyone is always able to act like a goddamn compassionate human-being in the middle of the worst kind of street fightā
but youāre telling me that cops, people paid to protect, canāt all do what I do?
Youāre telling me that cops, trained to respond to crises, canāt all respond to the same crises, with the same skill, that I do?
And youāre telling me that cops have to stick together in the face of these āpotentially falseā accusations. That cops have to support each other, no matter what, because their job is dangerous or whatever. That yeah, some cops, but ~actually, sweetie, not all cops~
Fuck that noise. My job is dangerous, too. But you better believe that if anyone sees a member of our staff breaking regulation, their ass gets reported immediately. That person loses their clearances; they can no longer be hired in the field, anywhere. Thereās no moving to another district. Thereās no finding another location. We make it stop.
So until every cop is cleaning house, until every cop stops this strategically blind bullshit,Ā until every cop refuses to stand by and watch the rampant abuse and corruption inherent in this system, until all the bad cops are weeded out and unemployableā
Until that moment, then yeah, all cops.
āIf a clock could count down to the moment you meet your soul mate, would you want to know?ā
lol yes, so then i can shave.
Ā Ā Ā Ā One minute, 37 seconds. Ā Ā Ā Ā My legs are shaking. Holy cow, there is no way I can do this. None. Ā Ā Ā Ā One minute, 29 secods. Ā Ā Ā Ā I glance around at the faces surrounding the room. Of course my Meeting would take place in the gross, overcrowded cafeteria. Ā Ā Ā Ā One minute, six seconds. Ā Ā Ā Ā Somewhere within these four walls, someone has the exact same countdown on their wrist. Theyāre going through the exact same pressure as me. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā 54 seconds. Ā Ā Ā Ā Mom said I should be excited, not nervous. Yet I still find myself wiping my sweaty palms on my dress. I canāt believe she talked me into wearing a dress.Ā I mean, shouldnātĀ my Soul Mate meet me as I normally am? All plain jeans, blah shirts, and wild brown curls? Ā Ā Ā Ā 30 seconds. Ā Ā Ā Ā Something deep within me tells me to stand up. I do, drawing the attention of my tablemates. They all know too. They smile encouragingly up at me. I chew my lip nervously. Ā Ā Ā Ā 25 seconds. Ā Ā Ā Ā That same feeling pulls me towards the center of the room. My stomach drops away from me as I take a step in that direction. Ā Ā Ā Ā 20 seconds. Ā Ā Ā Ā I continue in that direction. With each step the tempo of my heart picks up. Ā Ā Ā Ā 19. Faster. Ā Ā Ā Ā 18. Quicker. Ā Ā Ā Ā 17. More rapid. Ā Ā Ā Ā 16.Ā Itās racing. Ā Ā Ā Ā Oh my god this is it. The moment my life changes forever. Ā Ā Ā Ā My eyes search frantically around the cafeteria, searching for someone who looks as nervous as me. For someone whoās heading towards their future with no sense of direction like me. Ā Ā Ā Ā 10 seconds. Ā Ā Ā Ā The feeling directs me slightly to the left. I turn to accomodate. Ā Ā Ā Ā 5. My heart has given up entirely. Ā Ā Ā Ā 4. I stop walking. Ā Ā Ā Ā 3. Just waiting left. Ā Ā Ā Ā 2. Everything is about to change. Ā Ā Ā Ā 1. Deep breath.
Ā Ā Ā Ā 0000 d 00 hĀ 00Ā mĀ 00Ā s
Ā Ā Ā Ā Someone bumps my shoulder. I twirl around and my gray eyes meet blue, blue ones. Ā Ā Ā Ā āHello there, love. It appears as though weāre Soul Mates then, eh?ā Ā Ā Ā Ā As my words fail me, the only thing I can think is āIām so glad I shaved this morning.ā
āThats weirdā¦ā I checked my wrist, the clock had just hit the 30 second mark but I looked around and there was no one there. I was aĀ worrisomeĀ guy overall but I felt justified, I mean today was the day I was meeting my soul mate. Not that I expected my dream girl to be in the storage closet at work but still I was nervous.Ā
Walking out with a box the boss had requested I walked back to my cash register setting it on the shelf. My wrist hit the 20 second mark
19 seconds
18 seconds
Where was she? I could not help but get worried that an error would pop up or that she was gone and my timer would run out with no response. I panicked, Iād change my own fate if I had to. Running out of time I hurried through the back door. There was a park outside and maybe I wasĀ supposedĀ to be there to find my soul mate.Ā
10 seconds
9 seconds
A faint ding of the doorbell hit my ear. Wait was that it?? She was here! I turned around running back to the counter. āDonāt worry Iām just in the back!ā
I ran out looking at my wrist as it hit zero. Out of breath āHi Iām Matt!ā Sticking out my hand for a handshake it was met by a firm hand. Meeting my soulmateās eyes for the first time they spoke.Ā
āIām Steven.ā The man gave a smile āItās nice to meet you.āĀ
Ā I watch my friend carefully. Her excitement is glowing all over her pretty face. Exactly 2 minutes left, she tells me. Weāre waiting at the bus stop and the bus is coming in two minutes. I think she hoped sheād meet them on a beach at sunset or something. Ā āI mean thatās ok - these things canāt always be romantic I mean my mum met dad when he was working at the book store and itās not like you can plan it to be romantic I just hoped, I mean everyone hopes donāt they-ā she breaks off, looking at me awkwardly. āSorry. Itās just a big day for me you know.āĀ Yes I do know. Youāve been going on about it for the past year. I smile at her. Ā āDonāt worry. You nervous? Youāll be ok, you always are,ā I grin, determined not to ruin this for her. Itās selfish of me to be moody. This is her future being determined. Right here. In now, precisely 1 minute 30 seconds. Ā She smiles at me, but it isnāt quite reaching her eyes. Sheās restless and keeps tapping her foot. Her eyes are wide with.. fear? Excitement? Nerves? Probably all of them and a thousand more things I canāt imagine. She keeps checking her wrist. So do I. The bus comes around the corner. 1 minute 10 seconds. Ā āHey. Iāll leave you alone now ok? The bus is here. Iāll sit a couple of seats away, and be there if you need me,ā I say, squeezing her arm reassuringly. āGood luck.ā I hope it sounded sincere. Ā The bus pulls up and I climb on first, taking a quick glance at her while I give the driver my ticket. Sheās shaking and looks a little green. I want to give her a hug but know I shouldnāt interrupt now. I look at the passengers and itās full of pensioners. My heart starts beating frantically. What? I canāt see anyone else at the bus stop. But sheās only 18, she canāt end up with a 80 year old.Ā Ā I turn around and look at her - sheās breathing hard. The bus driver asks if sheās ok but she ignores him. Her eyebrows are creased and her face is flushed. Oh. Oh no. Stay calm. Someone is probably late. I give her a thumbs up and try to smile reassuringly. I think itās more of a grimace. Ā I take a seat near the back. Look at my watch. 25 seconds. She sits down a few seats away.
Ā Suddenly a dark shape runs past my window and a boy jumps on the bus. He has that same frantic look in his eyes. I breathe out with relief. Ā āYeah get on, weāre running late,ā the driver says, taking his ticket. The boy looks around, carefully stepping towards the seats. Heās tall and handsome, holding a sketchbook. I smile slightly; my friend hates art. Ā 4 seconds Ā He spots her. Ā 3 seconds Ā His eyes widen as he walks closer, as if being pulled by an invisible rope. Ā 2 seconds Ā My friend stands up too, that same rope tying her to him. Ā 1 second - Ā āI was worried the bus would leave. No way could I miss meeting my soul mate!ā he jokes, though he looks just as nervous as she. They smile at each other as they both sit down together. I canāt hear what theyāre talking about.
Ā I take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Suddenly Iām crying. Hot tears dropping down my cheeks.
Ā I look at my wrist, scratching at it. Trying to get rid of it.Ā
Ā The numbers have never changed.
Ā Theyāve always been at 0.
Oh my god that last oneā¦. My heart⦠The feelsā¦.
AGH ALL OF YOU WRITE A BOOK THIS VERY INSTANT. PLEASE.
this is beautiful and everyone needs to read it
i hate you tumblr, fucking breaking my goddamn heart
Then, one day, youāre having dinner with a friend youāve known for as long as you can remember (or perhaps a friend of the family), and you finally talk to them about your counter. Youāre crying, explaining that itās always been at 0, and so you must not have a soul-mate.
Their eyes widen. Tears begin to form, and they throw their arms around you.
āMine has always been at 0 too.ā
And thatās when you knowā¦
10 seconds: the doorbell rings, i get out of my chair 5 seconds: i give the man my money 0 seconds: i open the box. it is the most glorious pizza i have ever seen in my life.
This post always has different stories on it and I always have to read it and reblog it
Oh god I love it
Iām so confused-Iām the only person working my shift at the restaurant. Ā The boss had to leave for an emergency, so Iām at the cash register when I notice the clock. Ā I have two minutes.
The problem is Iām the only person in the store. Ā I quickly go to each of the windows to look outside-I know heās going to there.
Iām sweating now-I never expected this day to come.

I looked up to you and saw the sky. Your eyes held more stars than the universe. So magnificent and bright. My mistake was forgetting that after enough time, stars collapse. Now everything the world is dark and I donāt know where I am.

what the signs are thinking about: past, present or future?
Past: Taurus, Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
Present: Aries, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius
Future: Virgo, Capricorn, Aquarius
Everything: Gemini
Students: Hey, so at this point a lot of students would rather break their own legs than go to school because of the immense workload placed on us in the form of increased standardized testing and out of school work. It is remarkably frustrating and stressful to students, and causes a strain on our mental health
Parents: Hey, so our children are extremely overworked and we have noticed a huge increase in time spent on homework rather than things that kids should be doing like socializing and naturally forming interests that could lead them to possible career choices
Teachers: The state curriculum is becoming more demanding, requiring our students to learn more in less time, all while increasing the number and frequency of standardized tests (giving us even less time to teach important material). This makes us sad, because we want to share knowledge with students, but are forced to give them large amounts of homework to make up for lost time in the classroom.
The U.S. educational system: So what you're telling me is.... you want... more test??
