This episode of the Pitt was so good im gnawing at the walls of my enclosure

First and foremost; Fuck ICE. Can’t believe I have to say that in this day and age but absolutely fuck ICE. I really appreciate the showrunners showing the fear that even immigrants with protection feel when ICE gets involved. Shoutout to my GOAT Jesse fighting them to try and give the woman the proper care because that poor piss baby got upset that Robby told them to leave, you WILL get a break next season king

Second of all: love love loved the Santos and Langdon scene. It is the perfect example of how they are both villian and victim in this scenario. Langdon lashed out at Santos because of his addiction that he then had to deal with the fallout of and still is. He definitely has a long way to go. AND Santos does view herself as seemingly the main victim of Langdon’s addiction. No, she doesn’t have to forgive him as again he made her feel unwelcome in what was clearly her dream career, but I think she also sees herself as his judge, jury and executioner, which I don’t think is fair of her. I think neither person is wrong here and the solution is for the two of them to simply not work together, until Langdon proves himself in some way this isn’t just that apology or maybe never again.

Third of all: loved Robby and the heatstroke kid’s mom. I definitely think that Robby has a soft spot for parents losing children especially since Pittfest, but also I think being this close to a suicidal person while planning to take his own life is actually making the reality set in. There is so much sadness and fear in his eyes and that I’m wondering if he’s starting to second guess his choice. Personally I don’t think he’s going to kill himself or he’s going to attempt or survive, but GOD it’s such a good way to have Robby see what he’s actually about to do. A lot of suicidal people who survived said that they regretted it right as they were about to die and I think that’s what’s happening with Robby.

Fourth: God the Robby and Mohan scenes make my blood boil but it’s all so good at showing Robby’s flaws. He completely takes all the blame off of Ogilvie and gives it all to Mohan. And yes Mohan was the senior resident, but Ogilvie also had a responsibility to check that guy. I also think he was unfairly mean to McKay but that’s more understandable (Roxie’s death plus the potential for ANOTHER lawsuit). But all of it shows how Robby can be aggressive and unkind towards woman.

And I’m sorry I don’t want hear any “you can’t be mad!! he’s acting like that cause he’s going through xyz!!” Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you can be mentally unstable AND a bad person at the same time. Yes, it is WHY he’s lashing out, but it doesn’t excuse it. One of the first steps of getting better is recognizing how your behavior hurts other

Something about seeing Santos billed as “ego maniacal” and Al-Hashimi being branded as “a bitch” while Robby is called “sassy” and “funny” is very telling about how some of yall in the Pitt fandom view women vs how you view men.

I’m sorry as of right now with two episodes out: you can’t make me fully hate Dr Al-Hashimi. Like yeah she’s annoying, kind of in the way and her biggest offense; trying to introduce AI into a medical space (like THEE MAIN PLACE we need actual humans listening to each other) but she’s also a woman of color getting mocked and belittled by a white man who she is actually trying really hard to work with.

“Oh but she’s a corporate puppet tumblr user nixon-nitration-works!!!” “She tried to stop them from performing the right procedures!!!” Yes she is. But that’s also probably the main way she has been able to thrive in again a field dominated by men. As much as we hate the system and we SHOULD fight it, that sometimes isn’t an option for some people. And with the hints being dropped that she has unresolved trauma from a medical experience with a baby/babies, that is probably something that has also fueled her to be this way.

Now that point of morally grey characters is that you don’t have to like them. They are still making bad choices, and again Dr Al-Hashimi is already making PLENTY. But I feel like people are beating down on her too hard in a way that almost feels misogynistic, especially when you consider the grace given to male characters who have also made bad choices.

Something about the Pitt having plot lines that deal with work places sexism and the favoritism both from the patients and within medical establishments for male doctors and yet most of the time when you look at content for The Pitt, there’s obvious and intense favoritism for the male characters and even sometimes blatant hatred for the women characters for doing their jobs and behaving in a realistic way
