The term ‘permanently exhausted pigeon’, although funny, was a reality for Era. Fresh off a three-week honeymoon, the young blonde had a half-peeling sunburn and dark circles under her eyes, jet lag practically kicking her in the butt despite having to get up for work every day. Her exhaustion was made evident by the way she zoned out when looking at things, a mental note popping up every few minutes reminding her to move so she didn’t look like a mannequin. But, as she stood in front of a particularly tall shelf in Trader Joe’s, she was contemplating whether she really needed the flour or not. Glancing around almost desperately, Ezra furrowed her thick brows before sighing, knowing that she would need to ask for help but dreading it. Taking a tentative step forward, the blonde approached the first person she saw, stopping just a few inches away from them. “Excuse me,” she almost whispered, her cheeks burning bright pink. “Do you think I could get some help grabbing something from the top shelf? Normally I wouldn’t ask, but last time I scaled one of them, an employee yelled at me.”
Vienna didn’t drink often, but she’d be damned if she hadn’t earned it after the day she had. She signaled the bartender to make another one of her absolute favorite drinks - a vodka cranberry - before turning to the person beside her. “This day has been hell,” the redhead exclaimed, making it clear she was ready to unload her frustrations on the person with no shame or hesitation. She was tired and annoyed and she didn’t want to go home and vent to her cats. They couldn’t agree with her that people were stupid or tell her that everything was going to be okay because she was pretty and talented. “I had a party today which– whatever. It’s cool, I’m getting paid. But I had to be Cinderella and I am such an Ariel.” She flipped the long, red hair off her shoulder as if to prove the point. “So I’m already annoyed because I am NOT a cute blonde and they definitely got the wig from Party City. But then, as I’m leaving after my appearance, the very married birthday girl’s dad slips me his number about thirty seconds before a rugrat, full of soda and pizza, puked on my glass slippers after spending way too long in the bouncy castle.”

The blonde usually couldn’t be found at a bar, too socially awkward and shy to ever surround herself with strangers, but sometimes she made an exception. When Jaden was at work and the apartment was empty, sometimes it was easier for Ezra to sit in public for a couple hours after work, a soda in front of her as she either scrolled through her phone or, like now, read the lines in a novel. But, as someone sat beside her and started speaking, the blonde’s hazel eyes moved from the page, focusing on a bottle of liquor for a split second before her head lulled to the side so she could give the stranger her full attention. Admittedly, she needed to stop herself from smiling at the story, finding bits of it more comical than anything, but knowing full well that the redhead just needed someone to listen rather than criticize. “What were they thinking, making you Cinderella?” she half-teased, her fingers shutting the book in front of her and her posture straightening only slightly. “But, in all honesty, that sounds like a terrible day. Does that happen often?”
The scorching heat of the summer was barely beginning to fade into a slightly cooler autumn, but that didn’t stop Nell from laying on her stomach in the green grass of the Silver Lake Meadows with a book in hand. She could feel the heat of the sun hit the back of her pale legs, and while the warmth was comforting, it was something she would undoubtedly regret much later and have her searching for the aloe vera stowed away in her apartment. This was the most peace and quiet she had in awhile. A small moment to herself, as long as she ignored the children running around aimlessly, stayed out of the way of people going for jogs around the reservoir, and resisted the urge to pet every dog that wagged its tail in her direction. Even still, she was restless, as if it was nearly impossible for her to relax in the first place. Rolling over onto her back, she used the book as a shield from the sun and continued reading. She was so consumed by her book that when a shadow loomed over her, it took her a second to realize it wasn’t a sudden solar eclipse. Feeling incredibly awkward if she had continued to read while someone was standing over her, she set her book down on her chest and looked up at the person with narrowed eyes. “Really? I was just getting to the good part.” @slchat

In an effort to avoid being home all day every day, taking the dog for a walk seemed to be Ezra’s only escape. Buffy’s favorite place to wander to was Silver Lake Meadows, almost too happy to chase bugs and enjoy the grass beneath her paws. If anything, the park reminded her of being back home in Maine, and she was more than happy to sit for a few hours with a good book and the sandy-colored dog beside her, soaking up the summer sunshine and taking in the fresh air. There was enough space around that she could avoid people, talking to only a few of them as they wandered up to pet the happy, panting dog that seemed to get along with just about everyone that approached her. But, her moment of tranquility didn’t last long, as Buffy spotted a squirrel and quickly got up to chase after it. Abandoning her book with a hushed ‘shit’ falling from her lips, Ezra bolted to try to catch her dog, knowing that she’d try to snoop into everyone’s business the second she lost sight of the furry animal. Hearing a voice just as she caught her dog’s collar, the blonde blushed and wrinkled her nose, tugging Buffy away so she couldn’t get too close. “I apologize,” she mumbled, pressing on the animal’s back until she was sat beside her. “She saw a squirrel and got away from me. I didn’t mean to invade your space or block your sun or anything.”
Lana always did this. Whenever she knew the newest instalment of Leo’s comic book was out she’d go and buy a copy - sure, she knew if she asked, he’d probably give her a copy but that wasn’t the point. She was feeding her friends success, and she was happy too. Daily Planet was busy, of course, it was the middle of a Saturday afternoon so it was buzzing with throngs of different people. The comic tucked under her arm, Lana was browsing some film memorabilia when she was nudged by a teen brushing past her quickly, knocking down a board game display. “Crap” she sighed and bend over to pick up the random things that had fallen on the floor. She saw a pair of feet leaning over one of the boards causing a shadow and she looked up sheepishly. “I promise this was an accident..”

Daily Planet was a place that Ezra spent arguably too much time in, whether it was browsing around for her own benefit or waiting for someone, the blonde could usually be found tucked away among the comics. Being named after a comic book character made her feel a bit more connected to the place, but it didn’t hurt that her little nerdy heart was itching to read a new story or two about her favorite heroes. Seeing as it was Saturday, though, Ezra found herself shoving against shelves and displays, doing her best to avoid running into anyone while she wandered around aimlessly. However, at the sound of something falling over, the blonde turned and pulled a face before she moved closer, a chuckle leaving the back of her throat as she stooped down to help the woman retrieve the scattered pieces. “If it wasn’t, I’d be very concerned; but as someone that knocks things over constantly, I believe you. Here...let me help.”

They are a [ BOOK NOOK EMPLOYEE ] and in their downtime love [ WRITING ] and [ READING ]. They look a lot like [ KIERNAN SHIPKA ] and live [ IN OASIS APTS ].
tw: car accident, injury
full name: ezra jean lapointe
birthdate: november 10th, 1998
age: 21
height: 5′2″
quick facts:
born and raised in bar harbor, maine, which is a coastal tourist trap in new england
she was the only child of oliver and caroline james, and it’s safe to say that she was the center of their whole universe
oliver was a writer, but both he and caroline encouraged ezra to be as creative and whimsical as possible, which lead her to having more books than friends
if she wasn’t spending her days on the rocky shores of the ocean, ezra could be found hiding away under a big tree in the park, usually surrounded by dirt and leaves as she built faerie houses and indulged in things other people would find childish
because she’s so closed-off, she had a very limited pool of friends, and she was the quietest one of the bunch, claiming that she liked to observe rather than participate
life seemed an easy coast for ezra until just after she turned fifteen and her parents were in a fatal car accident. she still doesn’t know the details of what happened, but after she was left alone, she was sent to live with her uncle.
after the loss of her parents, she became even more reserved and closed-off, resulting in a lot of her friends giving up on her, leaving her even more lonely than she was before
though she loved her uncle, ezra chose to get emancipated and moved into her own apartment when she was seventeen, getting by with a crappy job at the local movie theater while maintaining good grades
she resorted to a life of solitude for years before she met jaden, her life consumed by writing stories and reading countless novels
the pair hung out for a couple weeks before he asked her on an official date, the pair seemingly attached at the hip already
unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned for the couple; on the way to the arcade that night, an animal ran out in front of their vehicle; in order to try and protect ezra, jaden swerved and the car flipped a few times, resulting in a near-fatal accident
though she only suffered a a nasty gash to her stomach, jaden wasn’t so lucky
weeks of staying in the hospital after he lost his right leg, ezra and jaden only grew closer. she was by his side every single day, helping him both mentally and physically
the two fell in love not long after, becoming inseparable and even moving into his parents place so they could avoid being without each other
at the end of may, with the help of his parents, the couple picked up and moved across the country to silver lake, wanting a fresh start away from watchful eyes
after a few months, jaden and ezra got married; while most people thought it was too fast, the couple know that they’re in love and belong together, and know they made the right decision
currently she works at book nook, picking up as many extra shifts as she can in order to help support the two of them
things are still a struggle, though, as they’re still drowning in medical bills and probably always will
