If you ever think your F1 take is delulu, remember that Ralph Schumacher told Sky Germany with his whole chest that Nico Hülkenberg should have gotten the second red bull seat.
well, I'll be damned
george russell and his evil attire with his evilishly big umbrella AND make him evil
the photo of them that i love under the cut
Am I the only one who thought this was photoshopped for a minute? Like, I know George is tall, but he Dwarfs everyone in this picture. Like, Kimi, Val and Doriane all look like actual children compared to him.....
life gives, life takes!

Does anyone know of any resources - websites, tumblrs, forums, clay tablets, I'll take anything at this point - which contain things like... idk. Detailed maps of paddock layouts (most of the official maps I find are geared towards fans coming to see the race and just have big blobs for like, ENTRANCE and PARKING 1 and FIRST AID PAVILION and maybe one area just called PADDOCK - and then the track maps just show the track & garages), explanations of how drivers will usually move around the space on race weekends and/or after races (ultra specific example: do they usually... walk/cycle/scoot from the garage down the pit lane to the media pen after sessions?? or are there pathways on the other side of the garages? or what?), just anything along those lines.
A while back when I was trying to do this kind of research, I found one Ferrari video which showed that, in Monaco at least, all the meeting rooms for debriefs etc are above the garage. That's the kind of info I'm trying to hoard. Because I've seen lots of videos taken at the track/in the paddock but they're usually these isolated, zoomed-in snippets, so one of the most challenging things for me right now about writing scenes set at the track is just - convincingly visualizing/describing and, more importantly, stitching together Space. Like okay they're Outside Hospitality but what does that look like and what does it connect to? Even if I'm describing it vaguely I want to have the image and map fixed at least somewhat clearly in my head.
@dumbf1sketches is an absolute hero who put me on to the existence of a diagram from one of the 2025 Australian Grand Prix FIA documents (specifically Doc 5 - Event Notes - Circuit Map, Pit Lane and Quarantine Zone - note that this link will download a file if you click it):
HUGE thank you to them because this is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. You can see the garages/pit buildings, the hospitality buildings behind, the media pen to the side of the hospitality buildings (and poor Kick Sauber across the way from the media pen + road, with the FIA hospitality building lol).
That building with the F1 logo on it I'm assuming is some kind of FIA headquarters? And then you see the FOM building to the right of it.
This is already plenty to be going on, and even if other races don't have exactly the same layout as Australia, it at least gives me a realistic template to use for what lives where and how drivers might circulate around the paddock!
@dumbf1sketches also gave me the brilliant advice to start searching for planning documents and similar related terms. Digging through these searches and the FIA documents taught me that there are a few different types of F1 track related diagrams:
Circuit maps (these are the track diagrams)
Pit lane drawings (these are the ones that usually just show the pit lane + configuration of garages, as in which team is where)
Site maps (these are like the Australia diagram showed above and are NOT usually included in the FIA documents)
Unfortunately googling "f1 paddock site maps" and the like didn't lead me to any site maps for other races (if you can find them let me know!) but... I DID discover the planning applications for Silverstone, which are getting their own dedicated post(s) here.
I also got great advice from an anon here.
i can't believe i've never seen this photo before. from a fucking australian article i can't access to a daily mail one i opened for gossip reasons. unbelievable. his stupid little private school cricket jumper. i feel ill.
