this was not a scenario of rules needing clarity. this was not a subjective decision. the rules are black and white, hard and fast in the regulations. in over a decade of watching, the safety car protocols have never been played with like this. they cannot be overridden because masi decides he wants a showdown where the title is taken away.
we DO need clarity for next year, on what's allowed in racing and what drivers can and can't do. but THIS is not that. this was the race director manipulating the result through outright breaking the rules and therefore determining the championship winner.
and i'm disgusted tbh that the narrative is being changed so quickly to direct away from the fact that the race end was an absolute farce at best, and rigged at worst.
and i wish i could say after this whole year that i believe the situation would have happened the same in reverse, had it been lewis in p2. but sadly i just can't. in fact i'm pretty certain it wouldn't have.
it was the ugliest day i've ever witnessed in this sport and to me, it feels very different to shithousery between teams and drivers and even penalties and the like in the past, because this was the very people employed to put rules into place throwing the book away, with no explanation other than "i can do what i fucking please" and it fucking stinks. what's the point of having 6000 pages of regulations if one man can overrule the whole thing with the wave of a hand, *especially* in regards to something that's in place for SAFETY.
it's not even about who wins anymore. i don't care. i don't even want it like this. it was won on track and taken away and i don't want it back with this black mark over it. it's about the integrity of the sport, and teams and drivers knowing they're not going to be played with like puppets on a string for someone's entertainment. it's about having trust that the rules are worth half a damn and will be enforced. this was not a grey area. this was a flagrant disregard of protocol for personal gain.

stfu stfu literally nobody has an ugly smile or an ugly laugh its just not a thing. your smiles and laughter are the literal manifestations of your joy theyre gorgeous no matter what they look like or how they sound
The thing I don't like is that Mercedes basically came into this sport when it was fully formed and had the clout. The others were here from the start and they got laughed at and mocked for joining such a series. Now they have got the special fia world championship badge? It stings a little, not going to lie.
Like I know I'll get some anon like "sport doesn't work like that! They worked hard!!!" I'm not saying they didn't. But i would have really liked at least one of the originals or the ones who came in, stayed the distance and changed people's mindsets on this series when it was considered a "laughing stock" to have the fia seal of approval for the first ever time.
