Season 5 being my fave season of The Mentalist because you can see Lisbon's vulnerabilities were exposed; unconciously accepting the ugly truth about her 'unrequited' feelings towards Jane—that (1) he'll do anything to catch Red John; (2) Jane is capable of hurting her, (3) and that maybe because of this, her patience, devotion, and hope for the future of them being more than friends might really be impossible considering he's not working towards his healing, rather actively pursuing revenge instead. Hence, her strengthening those walls and boundaries of having a boss-consultant relationship (though it hurts). And that realizing she, while being a saint, has a limit where she cannot fix yet again another damaged man.

#one instanfe of this is her letting homeland pull him back and cuff (??) him as he tried to get on the ambulance #well i cant remember if they went on to cuff him but they did hold him back as he tried helplessly to go after the guy who knew RJ #and this time lisbon just watched them and didn’t intervene

teresa lisbon, you are the best boss/leader in a detective show i have ever watched. thank you for always being a badass and still being kind and caring and compassionate but also always ready to throw down. also, you're really hot.

#there are many great women bosses on tv #and we love them all!!!#but i love lisbon’s soft caring vulnerable moments with the team #when she told cho it was a safe space if he needed to open up #checking up on grace after the s3 shooting #telling rigsby she trusts him when he talked about his father’s gang background #being a safe space for jane to open about how he felt about his time instiutionalized #she’s always proud of them and covers for them when needed #and as an agent i love when lisbon talks to the victim’s loved one after the cases #she showed compassion for the victim and their loved ones #hoping that they remember the victim in a good way especially if there were misunderstandings before they died

Something I love about the character of Patrick Jane is what a hopeless romantic he is.

Because of what he went through he could be so jaded about love but he really isn't.

Red John definitely did a number on him but it mostly made him scared to be in a serious relationship with someone out of fear for their safety. Jane had a deep rooted and well founded fear that anyone he dates would become a target for Red John's vendetta.

But I love the way that Jane cries while watching weddings. Him watching Van Pelt and Rigsby get married while he cries destroys me!! And I think he cries because he does so want to be married and married to Lisbon at that. But he doesn't feel like he can have it... at least at that time.

There's that exchange between Jane and Lisbon in 3x11...

Jane: Got his marriage back. Seems like a fair trade to me.

Lisbon: Aren't you the romantic?

Jane: Makes the world go round

And that's not even getting into all the numerous grand romantic gestures he did for Lisbon once they started dating and even before they started dating.

And then he and Lisbon start dating and months later he proposes marriage to her. I mean it made total sense. They've known each other for so long and were practically married for the last 8 or so years but I still love how Jane didn't waste any time after their relationship became official. He loves Lisbon so much!! 😍😍

#patrick jane is a romantic #he’s a soft hearted caring guy #and thats why we love him!!#because it can be soooo easy for him to give in and give up and turn into a cold blooded sociopath #with his upringing and what happened to his first family many expect him to #red john for starters wanted him to and the people who didnt get the show #and sometimes he does slip a bit because of his dedication to his revenge #but he continues to chose life!!!#as bruno said it’s an ACTIVE choice of his #despite his attempts at brooding and isolation he still runs back to lisbon and his found family #which is what makes him a compelling main character #and why i will always love heller’s decision in ending the RJ arc in 6b

Loved that second after her big smile, almost like it kind of “hits her”. That they’re married and she just told him about the baby and he’s ecstatic. Almost as she’s about to start to cry (of happiness) instead…

#the finale was for BOTH OF THEM #its a nice detail that lisbon was also able to voice out that she’s happy
