Hey, you, cis girl that's very (correctly) vocal about women being allowed to talk about their periods, do you include trans women in that?
I ask because every single time I've tried to talk about it to anyone that isn't a trans woman they get fucking angry. Which has caused me to have to just suffer in silence every single month. So I really relate to cis women when they talk about literally the exact same thing; being shamed by everyone around them their whole lives for talking about their periods, so they just suffer in silence every month as it negatively impacts their work and social lives. But I don't even feel like I can voice that I am literally dealing with the same exact thing because most of y'all react like you want to throw me in front of a bus for saying it, even those of you who act like your such big great transfem allies.
I guess I'll take this opportunity to talk about trans women periods.
The first thing any tme person thinks when they hear this is always "how can trans women have periods? They don't have uteruses!"
The answer is: the uterus isn't what causes your period, it is effected by your period. What causes your period and what causes trans women's periods is the same thing: the endocrine system.
HRT changes the sex of your endocrine system. Feminizing HRT makes it a female endocrine system, giving us a 28-day hormone cycle just like cis women. At the end of that cycle, the hypothalamus floods the body with prostaglandins. Those are what cause all but one of the period symptoms, because they make muscles inflame and contract. They are what make the uterus shed its lining, they are what cause intestinal cramps, they are what cause body aches, they are what cause headaches and migraines. The only period symptom not causes by the release of prostaglandins throughout the body is depression, and that is caused by your endocrine system simply not processing as much estrogen and from simply feeling like shit.
So, the only symptoms trans women don't get every 28 days is menstrual cramps, because yes we do not menstruate since we don't have uteruses. But migraines, depression, body aches, intestinal cramps, and the infamous "period shits" don't exactly add up to us having any better of a time. Except we have to pretend that we're fine and nothing is different because no one believes that we get periods, not even cis women.
"But you can't call it a period then because that refers to MENSTRUATION!" is another one I hear all the time. This is incorrect. You use the word "period" instead of just "menstruation" because it doesn't just refer to menstruation. It refers to a period at the end of the hormone cycle where we experience a host of symptoms. And not all cis women experience all of the symptoms that encompass the period. Not all cis women get migraines, or body aches, or have severe depression. If a cis woman gets a hysterectomy she doesn't menstruate either! In that instance she experiences an identical period to what trans women experience. Yet, I doubt you'd insist that cis women who've had hysterectomies don't have periods.
Oh, another thing that I personally discovered after bottom surgery: vaginal odor changes for trans women during our periods too. I was not expecting that because I always thought it was just from menstruation. But nope, the ph levels of a trans woman's vagina are the same of as a cis woman's vagina, and it changes during our periods just the same.

“What?!” Y/N’s voice echoed and bounced across the room, shocked from the news they had received.
“Sweetie, please don’t yell. I’m still recovering from that headache-inducing speech me and the others got from the king." Their mother replied with her fingers massaging her temples.
A few days had passed since Y/N visited the surface, and in that short amount of time a lot had transpired. The merfolk found out that sirens will launch an attack on Corona Kingdom, which includes Old Corona, and the reasoning behind it is still unknown to the merfolk.
Y/N stood looking at their mother, with eyes so focused yet angry and calculating.
“...Oh, no. No, no, absolutely not.” Mother had already read their mind, trying to talk them out of it.
Before she could utter any other objections, Y/N swiftly grabbed one of their nearby spears that was put close to the door and stormed off. Managing to whisper one “I love you.” to their mom as if she won't see her child again.
Y/N’s mother, with a headache worsening by the second, now was struck with a heartache more horrid than anything she had felt before. “Just like their father, stubborn…” she said through gritted teeth, tears welling up and her hand on her heart.

“Gah! Oh… Hehe, sorry ‘bout that dad.” Varian quickly got a towel to clean up the spill, murmuring to himself going on about water and the sea, and seashells. For no particular reason whatsoever
“Son? Son. The floor is practically shining you need not wipe it anymore”
“Oh, is it? I guess my mind was elsewhere haha…”
“Don’t tell me you’re still thinking about that strange person you met?” Quirin said in a tone not quite discernible, so Varian opted for the safe response.
“...Nooooo.”
Quirin let out a small laugh, trying his best to contain most of his joy and amusement.
“Dad, seriously?”
“I’m sorry, it’s just that I am ever so grateful you’re starting to gain friends.”
“Gee. Thanks.” The alchemist replied sarcastically. And as that emotion came it went, something in his peripheral vision caught his attention and made him whip around to get a better look.
“Something the matter, son?”
“...I will be back dad, just give me a minute.” With that he practically leapt to the door.

Y/N was outside Varians home, guarding and patrolling the place with a huge spear in hand when suddenly his voice broke through the worried thoughts that swam in their head.
“You’re back! I knew you would-” Varian said whilst running up to them, going on to try and hug them, though they suddenly turn around and the look in their eyes show a look quite indiscernible. Was it anger? No, determination, or maybe worry?
”- I mean, not that I was…expecting you to come back to me specifically but I, uhm-” Varian kept on stuttering until his friend suddenly dropped their spear and hugged him.
“I was so worried! Thank goodness you’re safe.”
The pure joy that rushed through him at the hug given was insurmountable, it enveloped him and distracted him for so long he forgot that hugging someone for too long would make him a weirdo. And so he pulled away to ask Y/N the question on his mind.
“Why wouldn’t I be safe?” Varian said, and before Y/N could answer someone else did.
“Because of an attack planned by sirens”
When Y/N and Varian turned around they saw her, Y/N’s Mother, mostly still wet since she emerged from the sea. Certain areas of her skin that can be seen peeking from her clothing were replaced with beautiful scales that shone in the sun
“Sorry for worrying you my child, it was a false alarm.” Mother continued.
“Mother! You can’t be seen like that, your scales aren't dried out!” Y/N said, without much thought
“That's your mother?!” Varian exclaimed, his eyes flicking back and forth from Y/N to their mom.
A moment of silence wrung through the air as they all looked at one another…

Some time had passed since that day, Y/N told Varian everything, their identity, their origins and why they kept it secret.
They told him they kept that information hidden since they didn't know if he would accept them. But to their surprise he was, in his words, “fascinated” and “eager to learn about their culture.”
And now, as Varian sat, watching Y/N in the water swishing around and relaxing. He decided to join them in the water. For good reason, he needed to chat with them a little.
“Woah look at you swimming with me this time, wanna gain some gills and join me underwater too?” Y/N jokingly said.
“If that's an option, then yes!” Varian didn’t pick up on the sarcasm.
Y/N’s heart skipped a beat as soon as he answered with no hesitation. And with so much hope in his voice too.
“I don’t know, maybe you could whip up an alchemical solution for that...” Y/N voice trailed off as soon as Varian clasped his hands on theirs. Cupping them together as if he was warming them up.
“Maybe I can, and you know Y/N, I can do a lot! But I can’t do what you do.” His breathing got funny for a second, like he was preparing himself for something.
“And I haven’t known you for long but I see us getting to know each other better! I uh, I see something… with you, with u-us and uhm-”
He continued speaking and as he did, Y/N’s eyes started widening little by little.
And as he looked into their eyes he kept getting more and more scared, his heart quickened its pace and he started to shake. “Aha… it sure is cold around here!”
He tried to avoid eye contact, in fact he wanted a black hole to suddenly materialize, suck him in, and take him away from this interaction because of how awkward he felt.
Y/N read all the clues he was giving them, the loving words, then discomfort, the build-up, then the sudden awkwardness.
“So, you… feel what I feel, don’t you.” Y/N said with a lil smile crept up on their face.
“What, cold?” Varian said, still thinking about his previous comment.
“No, dummy!” They flicked their eyes towards their hands, which were still in Varian's grasp. Their smile now widened when they saw his face morph from awkwardness to realisation after following their gaze.
“Oh that's such a relief, Varian! I can finally say it!” they took him in their arms and swished around on the waters’ surface. Like an over-joyed child they were hugging and swirling around with Varian in their arms.
“I love you, Varian!” and with one last swish they squished him and gave him a peck on the cheek.
He immediately reddens a shade of red that was as bright as raspberries, and melted into their embrace.
“I love you too, Y/N.” he says in a hushed whisper, turning their face with his hand and giving them a kiss.

Let me summarize what I’ve gauged from the indie community and how it’s been operating since apparently the Dawn of time.
Voice actors are mindless drones that have NO possible idea what they’re lending their voice to and for. They don’t ask questions, they don’t inquire about the media, and they apparently don’t give a shit. Is this a lack of integrity and a convenient excuse to feign deniability when they’re put under fire? Nah that’s just how it is.
Politics were born yesterday and nothing actually happened to no one. There is no point in trying to make real world references to art (which exists in a vacuum) because that would be disingenuous to the brilliant creators who were the first to ever invent the revolutionary concepts of oppression, genocide, misogyny, and religion!
The n-word and its adjacent history have only been problematic since 2020. If you said it before then, who cares?
Every millennial creator must be treated with the gentleness of a middle schooler who only wants to make OCs and share their stories. They do not possess a white fragility that is fostered by a racist culture that shuts down any feelings of discomfort that could lead to actual growth and progress. They don’t place the burden on marginalized groups of people to forgive, understand, and excuse their actions. We’re all just trying to tell stories, so let’s give them all our money till they figure it out!
Everyone grooms kids! Everyone says slurs they have no business attempting to reclaim! My inner circle is actually exclusively filled with bigots, racists, and groomers and we all take turns defending each other over the same leaked group call.

Whew!! I’m so glad I was able to learn all that! It’s so much easier to just lay down like a dog and accept it all rather than try to push back and change the standard everyone’s constantly complaining about. I should never be allowed to feel comfortable, and the only state of being should be awkwardly cringing at whatever I consume and taking fanfiction to cope. Wouldn’t wanna yell at the rich bigots too hard otherwise they’ll experience negative emotions.
