Okay so I keep seeing this post pop up about the marauders definitely at some point finding a loop hole in the rule "no students out of bed after hours" and levitating their beds around the castle and then debating the technicalities of it with prof McGonagall and I don't know if you do requests but if you do can you please write this !
I THINK this is originally attributed to user @marauders4evr: “I thought of this scenario where the Marauders wanted to find a loophole for the ‘No students out of bed at night’ rule. And I came to the conclusion that they would absolutely sit on their beds and levitate them throughout the corridors so that they were never actually technically out of bed.”
“Mr. Black, Mr. Potter, Mr. Lupin,” Professor McGonagall snapped, her brow furrowed as she eyed them suspiciously. “What are the three of you doing wandering the castle at this hour?”
They froze, turning slowly over their shoulders to gaze innocently at her, mouths agape for several seconds.
“I don’t know what you mean, Professor,” James ventured merrily. “I’m fairly certain we’re asleep.”
“Yes,” Sirius agreed, nodding. “You must be dreaming,” he assured her.
McGonagall glanced sharply at Remus, who merely rubbed wearily at his temple.
“You know the rules,” she admonished them, sighing in exasperation.
“Funny you should mention those,” James chimed in, ever the unrelenting ringleader. “I don’t suppose you’ve ever considered that they might be, in fact, too literal?”
“Please don’t,” Remus sighed, but he had learned rather quickly that there was no derailing a James Potter idea once it had taken root.
