finally ive found the entire context i was so confused but so deeply shaken by “couldn’t die because it was never alive in the first place”

honestly, his childishness is a big part of cdream that I don’t see nearly enough people talk about when discussing him. It’s a massive part of what makes him so fucking creepy at times, imo? Like, when talking to cTommy, he’ll switch on the fly between talking to cTommy like he’s a friend, talking to him like an older bully of a child, and talking to him like a disappointed and angry adult, and then, in other scenes, he’ll turn into the slasher movie monster I mentioned before while TALKING like a child.

Like. The scene where he’s chasing Tommy down in Logstedshire is a perfect example of this: he is an adult chasing a teenager down with an axe, yet he’s calling out to him saying things like “oh what, are you gonna cry?” as if he’s just an older boy shoving Tommy into his locker between classes. When Tommy lashed out at him in fear during that scene, his response was “Don’t hit me,” in the tone of a scolding, disappointed adult, but there’s a distinct undertone of amusement there, too.

Like. He tends to be depicted in fanworks as being either entirely the unhinged violent side, OR entirely the cold manipulator, but honestly, what makes him interesting to me is that there’s always a touch of this childish meanness in his behavior. Like. He’s just mean and petty and sarcastic and totally willing to hurl the most immature-ass insults you’ve ever heard just to entertain himself or tear his target down more.

it’s just me and the dsmp tv show that lives in my head against the world

okay i couldn’t stop thinking about this so here are some of my ideas:

- quackity red rose imagery of course of course

- phil kills wilbur at sunset (this is vital)

- exile is framed with lots of wide shots to emphasize the loneliness EXCEPT when dream is there— transitioning to claustrophobic shots where he’s never fully in frame

- mainly scored, not a lot of soundtrack music

- episodes an hour long to mimic average stream length, ~20 episodes a season

- the most prominent characters have their own musical themes and the most prominent countries have timbral leitmotifs (for example in manberg quackity’s theme would be played with a cello, in el rapids piano, and in las nevadas a violin)

- LOTS of using height/forced perspective to convey wilbur’s power dynamics, like how in mc he’ll stand on a block to be above someone. he kneels when phil kills him
