Over 13 Months Postop

I realize its been over a year since I’ve posted anything about my journey. I think i haven’t really used this account because I’ve been so afraid of failing at this surgery like I’ve failed at everything I’ve done before. I didn’t want to have people knowing of my journey just to see me fail. I’m happy to say however that isn’t the case... yet at least. For the first time ever I think I’m finally comfortable with my body. Yeah the loose skin is a bitch honestly and my tits are saggy and my arms look like bat wings... but I’m comfortable.  I’m not winded with the smallest amount of physical activity, I feel kind of cute in clothes.. idk im content right now.  I’ve lost 48 kgs (about 106 lbs) and currently weigh 67 kgs ( 148 lbs). I’m not at my goal weight yet and i still hope to eventually get to 60 kgs if not 55kg but I’m happy now. I plan on posting progress pics soon. Hope everyone’s doing well with their journey.

Today marks one of the most important anniversaries in my life. A year ago today, I walked into a bariatric clinic and for the first time in my life I was told my obesity was not entirely my fault. For the first time I felt hope for a better future. I felt like I had a chance. I didn’t feel judged. I didn’t feel ashamed. I felt supported. A year ago today I met the greatest team of nurses and doctors who helped me embrace this new lifestyle. They gave me the tools and the guidance to turn my life around. They taught me that my mistakes didn’t make me a failure. That being obese didn’t mean I didn’t care about myself. But most importantly they showed me that even if I fall down, I am strong enough to get back up…. A year ago today, I weighed in for the first time at 257 pounds. Today, when I stepped on the scale I realized that what I lost, didn’t really matter because I’ve gained so much more on the inside and the scale will never show me that. I’m strong, I’m confident, I work hard at my goals, I’m brave, I’m beautiful, and I deserve to be happy. Today, I weighed 155. Today, I love myself in a way I have never been able to before. Happy anniversary, beautiful ❤️

VSG Day 21 - start of week 4

Starting to get frustrated... I lost around 5 kgs (11 lbs) in the first 2 weeks and then this past week i only lost .5 kgs (1 lb). I get that everyone loses at their own pace but it's still frustrating. I also find it really difficult to get my liquids in when im out. Hopefully things get better this week

VSG Day 12

Okay so i don’t know why this has taken me so long to write but i finally went through with having vertical sleeve gastrectomy on July 22nd 2017 making this day 12. Hospital stay was less than a day and very uncomfortable, none of the pain meds seemed to be doing anything so i was just frustrated the whole time. The drain was also very uncomfortable but once i went home it was all good. So far no regrets even with all the discomfort i went through with the first couple of days. Incisions and stomach stopped bothering me around day 3, my back however was pure shit for a long time and just recently has gotten better. I think its because I didn’t sleep on my sides at all so all the pressure was on it. Scale broke a couple of days after coming home from the hospital so its annoying not knowing my progress.  Excited for whats to come.

I thought I’d never post these kind of pics. I feel so embarrassed. I admit I was careless when I was younger, I ate whatever I wanted, I never worked out. I let myself go so far. Until one day I decided to change my life. I was afraid to post this because of what people might say, and how society would not accept me. But you know what. I’m proud of myself. I’m proud of how far I’ve come. And I’m proud of this new lifestyle I’m living. Going to the gym 6days a week, and eating healthy as ever. I have one body, my body is all I have, I have to take care of myself, and be healthy, not for guys, not because of what people say. But for myself. You have to do it for yourself. Weight loss surgery?

I started thinking about having weight loss surgery since I’m back to feeling that theres no hope. I haven’t been able to lose the weight all my life on my own how is that going to change now? I had previously met up with a surgeon when i was 17 and he had recommended the gastric sleeve... currently watching youtube videos right now to see how i feel about it. I would love to do it while I’m on break but don’t want to wait until the summer in case i travel. Would two weeks off be enough time for recovery or is my only option summer break? I don’t know my head is just all over the place. It’s such a big and permanent decision but as of right now I don’t really feel like i have another option.

Today marks my 1 year surgiversary of my #verticalsleevegastrectomy! Those who are not familiar VSG is surgery to help with weightloss. A large portion of my stomach was removed & helps me feel full faster. This surgery can help you lose weight but will not instantly cure your obesity. It’s the push you might need to help change your lifestyle. Eating healthy foods. Working out, using portion control are a must after weight loss surgery. You WILL NOT lose weight if you don’t follow directions! My beginning BMI (body mass index) was 47.9 & it is now 31.8. I have gone from 288 lbs at my highest to 191 lbs. I have lost 97 lbs! I am not where I want to be but I am closer than I have ever been in my entire life! This journey has saved my life, and has helped me make so many new friends. I am eternally grateful! Thank you ALL for motivating me and pushing me to become a better version of myself! I couldn’t have done it without your support!

I have been overweight my whole life. Every new year I find my self saying this  will be my year. This will be the year where i finally stick with it and lose the weight. I give up just days later. I’m so sick of failing. This is the highest I have ever been. It’s like an addiction. I eat whenever I’m sad, or happy. I can’t even tell anymore whether I’m hungry or not. Last summer I had a gastric balloon to help me lose weight and i only lost 14 kgs, because i was still eating crap. This summer i gained all the weight back and then some. I don’t understand why i keep doing this to myself. I don’t know what to do anymore. I thought about weightloss surgeries like the sleeve and gastric bypass but it seems so permanent and I don’t think im ready for that kind of commitment. I just want to be able to stick to eating clean and exercising. I thought tumblr would be a good outlet for how i feel because I’m not comfortable talking to anyone about it. i dont really know what to do anymore.
