I need to put them in a jar and shake it. They make me sick they mean everything to me. I want to know more about them and their relationship because what did DiTerlizzi mean by introducing them and implying such an incredible, heart-breaking doomed siblings narrative reflecting that of the main protagonist and her sibling-- and then just not elaborating?
I know I've kinda alluded to the fact that I don't like how Redimus was handled in the show. But I'd argue that Besteel got it even worse. At no point does the series hint at a deeper motivation for his desire to capture Eva or even hint that Besteel has a brother. He's just the typical "evil hunter who only cares about money" when the whole point was that we were made to believe he was only that before we learn about Redimus and his backstory
"But Besteel isn't a good person and caused so much trauma and destruction for Eva." Yes, and the books KNOW that. At no point do the characters downplay the hurt he's caused or try to convince Eva to forgive him. His backstory explains his actions, but it doesn't change the fact that he caused so much pain for Eva
There's also his threat factor, which has been significantly toned down. In the book, Besteel was presented as this unstoppable force that was hellbent on capturing Eva by any means necessary. Even before he would appear, you always had this feeling of dread that he could strike at any moment. But in the show. They constantly have Eva be able to thwart and get away from Besteel easily, when in the book Eva was constantly fighting for her life to get away from him even for a moment. The whole chase sequence in Episode 4 perfectly shows just how much of a downgrade Besteel is as a villain. Just the sheer fact that he lets Eva give herself up willingly is baffling for how he was presented in the book. Book Besteel would've gone "fuck that" and ordered Eva to start running again so he could capture her properly
Finally, I wanna talk about this blurb in the art book about Besteel
This is gonna sound harsh, but this feels like such an ass pull. Having Besteel add salt to his meat doesn't suddenly hint that there's more to his character when said scene is presented as comedic in the show. There are plenty of ways you could've hinted that there is more to Besteel as a character. Why not have Besteel have Redimus's eyepatch and be looking down at it somberly? Or have Eva be in the Solas prison, where she hears Besteel talking to someone which we later find out was Redimus? Or at the start of episode 5 when Eva is being taken away by Zin. We hear and see Besteel ask Loroc about negotiation to the queen about his deal. At first, Loroc plays dumb, asking "what deal," and we see Besteel's expression grow dark as he says with a growl, "You know who I'm talking about", and Eva is brought out of the room before we hear the rest of the conversation. There are so many better ways you could've done this than just "Uh, him salting his food is actually a really subtle hint to his character. We TOTALLY didn't just pull this explanation out of our asses"

“young adult dystopian novels are so unrealistic lmao like they always have some random teenage girl rising up to inspire the world to make change.”
a hero emerges
And just like in the novels, grown men and women are going out of their way to destroy her. Support our hero.
And it’s not even like it doesn’t happen regularly.
Teenage girls are amazing.
Sometimes they’re not even teenagers
Reblog every time a girl is discredited/ignored

This isn’t a coincidence. Revolutions almost always happen when the population of a country is at its youngest and that’s a lot more true nowadays with social media.
Claudette Colvin was actually the first one to refuse her seat in Montgomery, Alabama to a white passenger. The movement chose to promote Rosa Parks as the figure for that form of protest because Claudette was a pregnant 15-year-old girl.
Barbara Rose Johns was a 16-year-old who organized a student strike protesting segregated schools. This strike, after gaining support of the NAACP, became a lawsuit that turned into Brown vs. The Board of Education and resulted in the desegregation of U.S schools nationally.
7th-grader Mary Beth Tinker, disturbed by the Vietnam War, decided to wear an arm band with a peace sign on it in protest. Her school suspended her. Her family filed a suit, Tinker vs. Des Moines, which reached the Supreme Court and ruled in her favor, ensuring that students and teachers maintain their right to free speech while in school.
Freddie & Truus Oversteegen were sisters who joined a Dutch resistance movement in WWII in their teens. They lured, ambushed, and assassinated Nazis and Dutch collaborators. They also blew up a railway line, transported Jewish refugees to new hiding places, and worked in an emergency hospital.
Our history books may like to showcase male figures, but behind every movement is a young girl ready to make a change. It was true then, it’s true now, and future generations of teenage girls will go on to inspire progress, whether they’re credited or not.
This is Lepa Radic, a 17 year old girl who fought against the Nazis in Yugoslavia. She was executed when she refused to give the names of her Partisan comrades.
And this is Sophie Scholl, part of the White Rose group, also against the Nazis. She was 21 when she was killed.
Awhoahh idid not know this
say what you will about the 90s but there were so so many women on TV with beautiful curly hair. we used to be a proper society

During a high speed car chase pursuit, the FOX 11 Los Angeles helicopter had an unexpected moment when they spotted a rooster and a chicken casually walking down the sidewalk right in the middle of the pursuit.
The fact that they were walking 1-3mph
His joy and whimsy at seeing this
His acknowledgement of it not being as interesting as the chase
His little "huh" cuz you know they told him to focus
it’s sooo funny when rude customers encounter employees who can deny them service for the first time.
i was working at a little cafe where I could deny service over bad behavior, harassment etc. & mask mandates had just ended a week before & already people were being weird about me still wearing mine—an N95, the kind shaped kinda like a duckbill.
so this man walked in, looked at me sooo scathingly, laughed at me, and said “damn. never known a woman to choose…practicality over looks.”
And I just said, “oh. you can go, you’re not getting a drink.” And he said, “what???”
I said, “sir, you just walked in at 6 am & called women impractical and me ugly in one sentence.”
And he was so astonished he didn’t even argue he just turned around and left 💀🙏🏻 it was like he suddenly became self aware
One summer I was running ferry rides across a lake so people could see the waterfalls without walking 6 miles when a guy snapped my bra strap as he was boarding the boat. So i immediately threw him off, he started yelling for my manager, my boss cheerfully informed him that, yeah, she’s the captain of the boat and she can kick off anyone she wants. He goes to storm off, looks expectantly at his girlfriend, and she just goes, “Well, I’M not walking six miles, Michael! I’ll meet you back at the car!” and sits right back down!!!!
The expression on his face when he was told that he couldn’t get on the boat, then immediately told that his girlfriend was ditching him? PRICELESS. he just blinked at her and then stormed off like a child. I gave her a free hat and was like maybe rethink this relationship…….
i once had this fucker come up to order a beer. while i pour it he shows me the wanky fucking chemical structure tattoo on his arm and he’s like “hey. you know what this is” i was like “nah sorry” (never cared abt chemistry in school, plus having to look at a some rando’s pretentious tattoo gives me the douche chills). he decides to respond with “heh. you must not read many books”
i immediately stop pouring his beer. i reply: “heh. you must not want this beer.” thirsty boy immediately starts groveling like a worm “please please no i do want the beer im sorry im sorry” believe me when i say it was one of the most pathetic things ive ever witnessed
gotta love people immediately backpedaling when they realise that there are Consequences To Being Mean
I genuinely believe that part of why it has become so normalized to be openly callous and evil in politics is that customer service culture has trained affluent people that they can treat everyone they consider beneath them however they want and still be treated kindly.
