Walt Disney Animation’s Songs in Sign Language Project (2026)
In case anyone didn’t see the PR, this was done because the father of Hyrum Osmond, one of Disney Animation’s directors, is Deaf and Hyrum was raised with both spoken English and ASL. He really spearheaded the project and got everyone else on board.
"why are so many leftists disabled" maybe it's because disabled people don't really care for the "kill all disabled people" parties but who can say

Please please frequent your local library and educate yourselves on book banning. It's getting really hard in the red states.

Stop with the party tricks
And take care of your body
That few seconds of creeping people out or impressing people with your flexibility isn't worth it
The "party tricks" can have major consequences at any time in your life not just when you're in your 30s/40s/50s+

The problem with being low support needs is that people mentally autocorrect that to “no support needs” and then proceed to give you absolutely nothing and then get surprised when you implode after six months.
stray odyssey thought: it was so so loud but only sometimes (scenes of conflict). my wife had seen a post about this and we gratefully both had earplugs. also there was a very intense flashing lightning scene (just after departing the sun god’s isle). extremely bright and then dark
just saw The Odyssey
I thought it was fucking great, like that's my review: its a fucking great movie
Sound sensitive anon here: how loud did you find The Odyssey? Was it bearable with earplugs?
Hi, so, a word of caution is that I didn’t go to IMAX, only your normal theatre in a cinema. I wore earplugs (Loop quiet) during the whole of Cyclops sequence and Circe, because I knew these two moments will be triggering to me.
That said, this film is really loud. Like all the noises, such as arrows striking the Trojan horse made me flinch because of how loud they were. Same with all combat scenes. And even with earplugs, I could hear Cyclops scream which just shows you how damn loud it is. Also the storm at sea was loud af.
Basically, as usual with Chris, The Odyssey is very loud. I’d advise ear plugs all the time and maybe not IMAX since I heard it’s even worse there.
But it’s an amazing movie and so if you feel like you can manage it, I would definitely recommend.
“self diagnosed autism is bad because it takes away support services from people who actually need them!”
what support services? unless you are a child there is none and the people without professional diagnosis need them too!
And in many places you can only access what services there are if you have a professional diagnosis.

The book I'm testing this on is Desperate Bodies by Lydia Mathis.
actually tho for people who have spent their whole lives disabled they are often put into the category of "person who cannot and will not achieve anything ever in their lives" including getting qualifications from education or being employed. it's a form of ableism we don't really discuss a lot because a lot of disabled persons are being asked to push themselves through their difficulties to function on the same level as their abled peers but it is not in any way easier being someone that everyone has given up on. who doesn't get encouragement growing up, never given goals to reach, never asked for their dreams or aspirations because everyone assumes they are incapable of achievement. i feel like the disability inspiration porn comes from this group of disabled people when they manage to do anything because the abled perception of someone who has crossed the disability event horizon into "too disabled" is someone who is "useless". and encouraging people or believing in them isn't necessarily the same as pressuring them to push past their limits. and some disabled people won't manage to finish schooling or get a job or be in a relationship or do something independently, but they still deserve to try and still deserve to have someone believing in them. even if abled metrics of success are nonsensical, failing to meet them still gets you exposed to negatives attitudes, and it can still make you feel like crap
i have a secret third opinion about self dx discourse which is “why are you guys treating the DSM like it’s the fucking bible”
the amount of leftists who uncritically support the DSM-5—wielding it online in battles against random individuals who might be “faking” a disorder—boggles my fucking mind. you guys realize that the DSM-5 isn’t the only diagnostic manual on the planet, right? you realize that we place it at the top of the global hierarchy because it’s american, right? has it occurred to you that the APA shouldn’t have so much authority over what counts as a “real” mental illness? has it occurred to you that perhaps there are other diagnostic manuals? in fact, there are dimensional models that don’t rely on sorting individuals into “disorder/no disorder” boxes in the first place. food for thought, lmao
