Welcome to My Writing Adventures

Hello! I am FandomsMJ on AO3, and @fandomsmj here on Tumblr. This is a blog for my writing adventures. Mostly because I felt bad directing my AO3 audience to my main blog which has far, far, far more than just my writing stuff.

I am working on several series on AO3. Such as Star Fox: Restored and Polaris Will Always Guide You Home. Posts regarding specific series will be tagged with the series name.

Since I am no longer going to be posting weekly, I will try to post at least twice a month on AO3. Posts will be made here to announce new fics.

Something neuroscience-y that helps with prose: attention is selective. A character will not notice everything in a room. They will notice what matters to their goal, fear, desire, training, wound, or obsession. A jealous character notices hands. a hungry character notices food. A soldier notices exits. A lonely character notices pairs. Description becomes character when attention has a bias.

#this is what I love about writing 3rd person limited #a character might miss something #and I can use that to my advantage to surprise the audience later #or it means I don't have to spend 3 hours trying to figure out what a room looks like down to the smallest detail #because the POV character will Not Care #and won't be there long #write on queue

Fanfic is a great way to practice self-indulgence while writing. It doesn’t even have to be good, it just exists purely for your pleasure, be a little freak about it. Worry about quality and what other people think when it comes to works you intend to publish in a formal setting
