IF YOU SEE IT - REPORT IT !
as some of you are aware, this week a blog was reported to tumblr staff and to the authorities by over six hundred people. the url was littlecpking and it has since been removed thanks to the efforts of everyone who reported the account to the authorities. the reason why this blog was reported was due to the content it posted containing images of children and depictions of children in sexual positions, with sexual captions and implications. this was child pornography. the original post was made by @63l3 who found the blog after it appeared on her dash as a suggested post. you can see the original post made by maddie here, and the alternate posts made after the original here and here.
the reason why i am bringing this up again despite the fact that the blog is no longer in circulation is because there are still plenty of blogs out there exactly like it. now, i’m not saying that we should all go out and track every last one of them down because a. it’s not our job and b. we wouldn’t get them all anyway. but what i am saying is, if you happen to come across something similar, a blog recommended to you in your sidebar or on your dash or a suggested post, please don’t just ignore it. we have already proved through one post alone that we can get these blogs removed from tumblr and if the authorities are paying attention, we might even be able to get the people behind blogs like this, arrested. it might seem like an extreme, but we could save lives by just reporting what we see.
last night, five other blogs that posted the same kind of content were found by another user who gave permission to be mentioned. @limelited discovered and wrote down five of the blogs littlecpking followed who they found posted pornographic content relating to minors. they not only reported the blogs to tumblr but they also reported them to the authorities. now the reason why these blog are not linked is because they were already taken down by the time limelited messaged both myself and maddie. i think the reason why they were removed so quickly is because of the amount of people who reported littlecpking. tumblr staff noticed. and they’ve done something about it.
this just goes to show what you can do. so please, if you see it, report it.
spread awareness. get others involved. tell them to report it too. if you’re not comfortable posting publicly about blogs of this nature, message one or both of us at the below through either the ask or an instant message. we are fully prepared to make the post ourselves.
you will notice that we have hover tabs with a links to the above tip websites as well as to our asks and to the original posts about littlecpking for reference. please, if you ever need them, use them. we know now exactly what needs to be written so that future signal boosts like this provide all of the information required to report them and keep everyone safe.
IMPORTANT PSA ! RE. LINKING THE BLOG !
we know that a lot of you are concerned about two things when it comes to the blog itself being linked. the first is that you are liable for distribution. while we are not sure yet exactly what the law is in regards to whether or not raising awareness and encouraging people to report child pornography would class as distribution, we are looking in to it. this is why both maddie and myself have offered to be make the original posts. in the event that anything does happen legally, we are fully prepared to defend our actions.
in the even that you do not want to risk it, you are welcome to make your own awareness post without the link. the reason why we will be linking the blogs is because it will create less traffic for the account and it is also quicker and safer to report them to tumblr. to report the blog to the authorities, you only need to type the url however to report it to tumblr, the quickest way to report it is from the dash and the hover. this means you will not have to view the blog itself to report it.
by hovering on the title and clicking the person, a drop down will appear that includes a report option. in our opinion, not linking the blogs will only peak curiosity and people will search for the blog themselves, and the content could be triggering. we will, of course, include a capitalised and bolded warning to not click on the link itself.
i know this is a long post and i know that it’s not something people want to discuss but it is an issue and if we can do something about it, we should. please, reblog this post if you can. share it. send it to people so that they know that something can and will be done – thank you, lara and maddie.
