Things Jonah learns from his adopted parents:

Carlos's love for causing trouble (he spilled those chocolate chips on purpose)

On that note, I'm pretty sure eating stuff off the floor is a Carlos thing too. Carlos was a farm kid, he's definitely eaten worse. (it drives TK crazy)

The TK sassy hands (i can just imagine he gets into an argument with his kindergarten teacher and his little hands are flying. And when TK and Jonah get in an argument with each other... Ooh boy it's all over!)

The big brown cow eyes that absolutely wreck people (and that TK can't say no to)

Swear words. Carlos has apologized a thousand times for teaching him that 4 letter word that starts with S. It was an accident! He would never intentionally teach his child that word, but he took Jonah to see the family farm and when you're at the farm, working with a feisty horse, things get said. And little kettles have big ears. (TK has to pretend like he doesn't think it's funny)

seven sentence sunday & inspiration weekend

“That’s why you always use something with a flared base,” TK mutters as they walk away from the room with the guy whose night of intended pleasure took a turn for the worse.

Beside him, Carlos stammers and chokes on air and TK’s eyes go wide as he realizes how that sounded. He whips his head towards Carlos, finding him blushing. “Oh. Oh my god, I didn’t mean you specifically, I—”

Dr. Reyes shakes his head. “No, it’s okay. I get it. You just—”

“You can do whatever you want—”

“—you caught me off guard is all.”

“It doesn’t matter to me,” TK continues to babble. “Unless you end up here, then it does matter to me,” he laughs awkwardly, and Carlos’ blush deepens.

“Oh my god,” he mumbles.

“I’m going to stop talking now,” TK says and snaps his mouth shut. He goes back on that a second later. “Please don’t write me up for sexual harassment.”

Carlos can’t meet his eye as he gives a strained smile. “It’s fine. You’re fine.”

“Reyes!” Tommy calls out from the other side of the ER. “Need you in trauma one!”

He takes off, leaving TK standing in front of the nurse’s station, where Nancy is looking at him with poorly-concealed amusement. TK ducks his head and scurries away.

February 14, 2020: TK didn’t mean to end up at Carlos’ tonight. he doesn’t even realize what day it is until he’s grabbing his phone after pulling his pants back on. suddenly, Carlos taking extra time to kiss him and sharing a handful of chocolates with him after makes sense. he waits for a flash of panic, but it never comes

February 14, 2021: Carlos doesn’t know what kind of gifts they’re doing. They didn’t discuss it, and now Carlos is waiting in his kitchen for TK to come over, wondering if the card, flowers, and dinner is too much or not enough. TK looks exhausted when he comes through the door, and Carlos almost packs the whole thing up until he sees the way TK lights up at the sight and pulls his own gift out from his bag

February 14, 2022: the first loft Valentine’s Day is celebrated with a candlelit dinner and slow love making

February 14, 2023: they pour over wedding plans together. to feel somewhat festive, they figure out their flowers tonight. they decide they’re not a fan of flower arches

February 14, 2024: it’s not what TK would’ve expected for their first day of love as husbands. there’s no wild sex, no whipped cream or chocolate or flowers. but there is a dinner they eat together, and there is cuddling on the couch. though it doesn’t lead to more than a few tired kisses, it’s enough for TK

February 14, 2025: they experience Jonah on his first and true sugar buzz. TK jokes that it’s a trial run for Halloween, and Carlos has so much pink frosting from the cupcakes they made smeared on his shirt that he’s too tired to argue. he gets his energy back after the little one has gone to sleep and TK drags him to the bathroom to clean up
