Soon to be one of the characters in the upcoming comic, “Cinderfall”.

All he gave in response was a small nod of understanding. He backed up, waiting until he could hear the soft clink of his HEV hitting the elevator’s wall of glass before standing still again. It was an attempt to explain that, unless he could think of something, he was ready to leave.
It was highly unlikely they could find the Borealis without some form of direction, much to his dismay. Therefore- wait. If Aperture Science could build something like a self-aware robot, it was possible- not certain, but possible- they made one with legs. Given the fact he had little knowledge about the subject, however, explaining his point was going to be… complicated, to say the least.
The Resistance leader shifted his hand out from under his weapon again, this time using it to not sign, but gesture toward the AI. The same motion was copied toward one of his legs ( which, to make his point clearer, he had stuck out in front of him in an almost childish manner ). To conclude his communication attempt, he pointed toward the logo embedded in the elevator.
‘They built you, right? So it’s not unlikely that they created some sort of mobile form. Do you know what else they’ve made that could work?’
It was a fairly intricate statement, given how vague he had been about it, but whatever she got from his mute explanation couldn’t be too far off.
( Hopefully. )
Thankfully she held no ability to smile slyly. Or she would have, and she would have done it with finesse. A multitude of thoughts came to mind, ranging from the already built orange and blue to the one thing she had been working on ever so slowly and yet ever nearing the finished product. Maybe just maybe she could use that ‘old thing’.
“Hmm, I suppose I could do … whatever that was supposed to mean.”
Oh, she had understood, she just hated to be so forthcoming with strangers. Strange being the most powerful part of that word.
“I’ll just have to gain remote access to this facility. I don’t think you want to go up in a nuclear explosion. Nor do I think destroying this entire database is a good idea. If that were to happen, the entire wild life pop– what’s left of the animal population would be destroyed. Now, let’s see here.”
She pretended to be thinking, slowly going back and forth. Then a grouping of wall panels separated to reveal a mobile unit a hint more sophisticated than her previous builds.
“Will this work?”
Prepare for Unforeseen Consequences.

“I-.. Okay. Yes, you’re right.” Her sound receptors picked up the sound of a poisonous headcrab sound when in the vicinity. GLaDOS hastily grabbed the backpack she’d been wearing. She disabled each pistol, and then grabbed out a folded up crossbow. “I didn’t notice anything on the way in. Do you have any non-zombie infested high points?”
Chell moved over to the rest of the group she had been with prior to help them up. It was just her and two others, a couple from the looks of it. “….If you mean any safe places then I’m not sure. This was the safest place we could find in the area. I’m certain there’s a camp to the North of here that was safe, but it’s a longshot that it’s not overrun at this point.”
"Fantastic." She put duly, rolling her eyes. "I suppose I'm immune to head crabs, so I'll just run headfirst into the masses and explode." The sarcasm was so strong that it gave even her a headache and a slight irritation that nagged at her nonexistent stomach. "We'll just have to deal with this then. Hopefully soon the area is clear so we can get back and get some real work done."

“Yes a life for a life.”
She said hesitantly, blinking a few times to gain sharpness. “We’re safe for the most part.” Reinforcements came running in, some with rocket launchers, some with normal guns and some with pipes and crowbars. “Although your back seems worse for wear now.”
Chell quickly got off of the other woman, pushing herself to her feet with a groan, using the wall for support. “….Yeah….safe. Though that damned thing had a grenade and the zombies are attracted to noises usually so that means there are going to be more coming.” Her silver eyes turned to look at Her. “…my back…? Oh. I’ve…..dealt with much worse. I’ll be alright.”
“If I right my wrong..” She hissed, attempting to not make too much noise. “I’ll start with making sure your back doesn’t give out on you. Not here. Not until I get word to move you to– well. The Hole.” She referred to the hell that Chell had left. This was the robot’s biggest test, not testing others in a space she had used for decades. Something had changed within her. Either that or someone had changed her coding around. Probably her coding. The one that her hostage, the one forcing her to test.
“….the Hole….You…you can’t mean…” She stepped back some, knowing immediately what it was. A place she had spent for many ages, a place she had left only to find a wasteland. Chell wasn’t sure whether to be happy or worried that She wanted to bring her back. …this HAS to he her. “…For…for right now, let’s just…focus on the zombies in the area.”

“No problem.” She thought a while– about being so nice. Thinking back to Barney, and Alyx and that Doctor Kleiner guy she met a month ago, and then realized how much things could change in the span of thirty days. Anything could happen, even helping the one she loved to hate the most.
She wasn’t just a crazy AI alone in her own world of “Science” and Self-loathing.
She took a shot at the head of a “Zombine” through the wall, realizing that that was a big mistake.
The sound of a grenade about to go off filled her ears.
“Chell– you…–”
Chell narrowed her eyes in thought, staring at the woman beside her. She had been on the surface for quite some time at this point, so she doubted she’d ever see anything or anyone even remotely related to Aperture, yet She sounds like… The human shook her head. No use thinking about it. Her head shot to the hole as the former combine fell the ground, a grenade rolling out of it’s hand and further into the building. She heard the woman say her name, but grabbed Her and threw her down to the ground. “GET DOWN!”

The grenade…
She heard the explosion, the dust cleared, her ears rung so hard she felt as though her body would shut down. Fear, anger and chills ran up and through her fingertips, sending shocks every which way. She could feel the warmth from the human atop her, her eyes wide with gratitude.
“You saved me life.” She could barely hear herself speak, but nonetheless she was grateful. One more. Her hand engaged, two guns from out beneath the woman, she shot seven times.
Silence greeted them.
Chell was for the most part alright after the smoke dissipated, through her back had been a bit singed by the blast. “….Y-yeah….Hey, a life for a life, you know? You saved our lives, and I thought I should just return the favor…” She flinched at the sound of gun fire, ducking down some. “……”

She new the ship, but not its location- by this point, he wouldn’t be surprised if what little information the Resistance had on its whereabouts exceeded her’s. But, if they were lucky, the Combine knew as little about its location as they did. If they knew what was aboard it, and they got to it first-
Well, it was a chance humanity simply couldn’t take.
The figure on the monitor clearly caught his attention. He simply stared for a few minutes, trying to prove himself wrong; it was a silhouette with a suitcase, it could be anyone. Shaking off the alarming similarities of the man in the screen to one he knew all too well, he switched his attention back to the AI. The sudden disappearance of the ship was even more peculiar on camera, creating more questions than it did answers.
Frowning, Freeman waited for the other to come to some sort of conclusion from the sight that he didn’t.
Her optic rapidly shrunk, then grew again. Her scanners had picked up an energy reading in that area. She captured the signature, which rose the question, where did it go? She spun around to the side, swinging back and forth momentarily, calculating the whereabouts. She turned back towards him again.
She shook her giant head in thought. For once she was unable to form proper words, she was now the bigger silence in the room. It took minutes for her to get back to him. She attempted to imagine him not being there, the problem not existing, but her mind demanded her to fix it. She almost succumbed to the programming she was forced to fight against on a daily basis.
“It seems the Borealis was transferred elsewhere. However, in good news, the smallest signature I could trace is north of here. I can’t pinpoint it exactly, but I think a human like yourself will be able to figure it out. You do have glasses. However you’ll need direction. Sadly, I don’t have legs. So I can’t be your mobile GPS. So in all honesty, that’s all I can do for you. Unless you have a better idea, Lambda Man.”
