My activity on here has been incredibly scarce especially lately and I apologise for that, life has been busy and I'm trying to get my OC blog some more threads and now I've just made another new blog... Not really great excuses, but, again, trying to get on this blog a little more. Muse tends to be finicky here and I like to make sure I have enough muse to write some koala-tea responses. So, I guess this is a sort of psa and apology for my flakeyness. I'm still around, it just takes me a while to dish things out, I hope I'm still tolerable.

It became something of a concern to find Newt would not answer her. For a moment or two she awaited his reply as the tray began to feel heavy. All that adrenaline set in her body to try and assist him was wearing away, and she could no longer wait a moment longer.

“I’m sorry,” she muttered as she took one hand to push open the door in entering their room again. Much to her surprise he seemed to be no where in her sight, but he had to be somewhere. She knew she left him there, yet his suitcase seemed to be quite untouched. Perhaps he needed cold water on his face again, but she could swear not hearing him or the faucet being on at all.

Closing the door behind her, she bothered setting the tray down onto the nightstand nearest her bed. Her hand quickly grabbed for one cup to begin preparing it the way she liked it. Hopefully their landlady of the bed and breakfast would not be too angry in finding these things gone. Unless Newt could magically find a way to convince her as he did before. Even that brought such questions to mind! Of course the sudden sound of the suitcase opening brought her to quickly turn to look back in utter awe of him.

At first she could not believe what she was seeing! The single cup falling from her hands in a crash against the floor of tea and shattered porcelain. Only a gasp managed to come up as words she could not speak in staring at him. Was he… was he a Time Lord? No. No he could not be! None of them every had a TARDIS that transformed into a suitcase and could move so easily. Unfortunately now she was left with more questions than before.

“N-Newt,” She questioned in a soft voice, afraid to even move a bit closer to him. “How.. You’re… The suitcase… What?!?!”

Upon hearing the crash of the porcelain mug hitting the wood floorboards, Newt winced. Shameful eyes peered up at Athena from where he stood on the staircase inside the seemingly ordinary suitcase. He pressed his lips together in a thin line, swallowing hard, his gaze averting from hers as she began to stutter out her own questions. He should have kept better tabs on time. If he didn't get her to calm down, to see that no harm would come from this little mishap, he would have to obliviate her. A shame that would be for at the moment she was really his only friend. If he could call her that, they had only known each other for about 24 hours. It seemed that was enough time for Mr. Scamander to cause quite a bit of trouble.

"N- Now, it's- it's not what it looks like..." he started unsteadily as he slowly stepped out of the suitcase. A soft sigh as he bent down to close and lock the suitcase. "Well, I mean it is... What it looks like, but you don't have to be afraid," he tried again. His gaze lifted to meet hers once more, still appearing rather troubled. He was slightly ashamed for having hidden such critical information from her, the suitcase, his place in the world as wizard and magizoologist, but rules were rules, though he wasn't certain he could get her to understand that.

Cautiously he began to stand, holding the suitcase at his side as if he hadn't just come out of it, as if it were just ordinary. "It's, uh... W- well it..." He paused, sighing shortly as he glanced off to the side, considering his words carefully. "You remember how I told you there were valuable things in my suitcase? Priceless even?" He swallowed hard. "Well, this is... Sort of what I meant." Shifting the suitcase uncomfortably in his hands, he sucked in a breath and stared at Athena for a moment nervously, though very seriously. At this point there was really no going back. He might as well come clean. Tell the whole truth. He trusted her well enough and, well, if she reacted negatively, he would just have to obliviate her and that would be that. Though, he so hoped that wouldn't be the case.

"I'm a wizard." He paused, then glanced down at his case. "The case is, uh, charmed." Another thick swallow, his hands wringing the handles gently. "To fit my valuables... My- my creatures." He briefly licked his lips and then took a step closer to Athena. "I- I- I wanted to tell you, but..."

Newt seemed a bit taken aback by the statement from the young man, his brows coming together in a confused, yet curious sort of frown. He blinked as he looked up from his work, considering his words. If he needed his help for any reason, he would be willing to give it, his urgency giving him a sense of concern. His brows raised a little as he gave the boy his full attention.

“And what exactly is the sort of fate that you have in mind?”

At the comment, Felix pulled his hand back, a flash of disappointment running through him.   Whatever this is, just might fit in beautifully to his Da’s collection.  Something unusual.   After all their travels, finding something new always a thrill.  Regardless, he just enjoyed meeting animals.

The other’s discomfort, easy to see and Felix tried to tamp down his enthusiasm.   If he scared the guy off, it would make finding where this creature came from all the more difficult.  Not impossible, no.  The Gallifreyan had every confidence in his abilities to figure it out.  This was just the easiest route, and he might make a friend in the process.

“Right, no of course.  You don’t me, don’t know what it is.  Honestly that  you want to protect your friend there is a good thing to me.”  He smiled, trying to pour on the charm.  “The name’s Felix by the way.   I grew up around all kinds of animals.   So bit fond of them.   Had creatures from all across the universes, er, the world I mean.”  Right, try not to sound like a nutter and completely scare the guy off.    

‘I’d show you its harmless by scanning myself, but I’m not sure you could interpret the readings.  No offense, its just a specialized tool.”   Felix’s smile turned wistful as he looked at the niffler again.   “That really is a brilliant little thing.”

A slightly uneasy smile brushed Mr. Scamander's lips when the boy began to explain his own interests in the creature. He sounded like someone fond of beasts, but that did not mean he needed to understand his Niffler any more than he already did. It was difficult enough trying to gloss over the fact that this was not, in fact, a dog. Keeping secrets from muggles was rather frustrating. If he could just explain himself, there would be no issue. Unfortunately, muggles were unpredictable and Newt wasn't quite sure what to make of this one yet. He seemed quite curious, enthusiastic, and very forward, perhaps to a fault.

As the young man's eyes seemed to wander back to the Niffler, the stubborn creature once again began to squirm in its own attempts at escape. Immediately, Newt pressed it under his coat, its little head peeking out as it continued to try to claw away, reaching out toward the shiny object that was this boy's supposed scanner.

"I'm Newt. Scamander," he introduced himself, pressing the Niffler's claws into his jacket gently. "Right, well, like I said, he is a rare breed and I don't think scanning him would do you much good, so..." He pressed his lips into a thin line, looking at Felix with a bit of concern despite his attempts to hide it. He was hoping to release the Niffler's newest possessions to whomever it had stolen them from, but it seemed the longer he stood there keeping up appearances with this strange muggle boy, the less likely that seemed able to happen.

"Anyway, he's a naughty little thing and I really ought to, um... Well, get him home."

Even after she left his words resonated with her as she headed down the stairs. It brought her single human heart to a flutter as she thought it over. Now why could she not place the reason why?

“You’re a lovely bit of light amongst all the darkness that often clouds people’s hearts.”

Her cheeks became pink in their rosy color once she began to look around. No one ever thought to say that to her for all the years she had lived through. Not even her pilot dared to say something like that. Was this something of greater value to hold? No. They had only met that day, and while she acted kindly towards him, it must have meant only his gratitude. Perhaps a look back over those odd romance movies and novels would be required. If any were back in her shell, of course.

Grabbing a stool, she climbed her way to the cabinets. For some reason the idea of being tall really needed to be considered when she took a different form. If that were to happen in any case. At least now she could open the doors to peer inside for the chameleon tea. Or what is chamomile tea? The two sounded so very familiar as she quietly whispered them to herself for reference. A deeper look into this later would be required as well. Who would have ever guessed a night in a bed and breakfast would require so much work later on!

Eventually after finding the kettle, filling it with water, allowing the teabags to sit, taking them out, gathering a tray with honey, milk, and sugar; Aethena finally found herself ready to return to their room. Not without taking a few jammie dodgers hiding in a small cookie tin. 

Pleased with herself, she took hold of the tray in a careful attempt to find every step back to the room. The efforts of being quiet always seemed a challenge when a kettle screamed the moment the water boiled. If only there would be easier ways to fix that in the future. Upon reaching the door she did her best to knock and hold the tray in her hands.

“Newt,” she whispered,” Newt may I come back in? I have the tea ready for us.”

Once he was down in his world of beasts, he seemed to completely forget that time was of the essence. The creatures seemed to be doing quite all right on their own, but some needed fed, others just needed a bit of love and affection. Frank in particular was desperate to know his Mum was doing better after the night terror that had brutally awaken him before. The Thunderbird had known immediately when something had gone awry, but was relieved when Newt came to see him first and appeared to be unharmed besides a little emotional scarring. His creatures and a bit of tea would give him the recharge he needed, though.

He was in the middle of feeding the Mooncalves when Aethena gave a knock at the door. However, the knock was not loud enough to be heard by the freckled man in all his distraction, so he continued with his feeding and swiftly moved to check on the Occamy eggs in their nest once he finished feeding the Mooncalves, their bug eyes wide as they plucked the seeds from the air greedily.

The twig-like creatures rushed up to the edges of the branches of their small tree as Newt climbed through each of the habitats until he reached theirs, grinning contentedly at them as he pulled Pickett from his vest. The one small Bowtruckle liked to stay with him at all times despite the numerous times he had tried to place him back with his friends. The poor little beast seemed to think he would be bullied by the others since he was a bit different, shy... Much like Newt. Perhaps he did favour the Bowtruckle a bit, but he tried not to be that mum.

He was attempting to coax the spindly beast onto the tree when Frank suddenly began to flap and squawk loudly from his habitat, catching Newt's attention. He spun round, brows furrowing a little, his eyes widening when he remembered Aethena and the tea. Quickly, he tucked Pickett back into the pocket of his vest and sprinted through the habitats back to the other end of the suitcase where the staircase was located in his shed, seeming to have completely forgotten his ability to apparate. He swiftly grabbed his long blue coat off the coatrack and pulled it on as he rushed up the stairs, poking his head out of the suitcase.

“Yes… Her name is Calliope.” At the name the large eared cat turned her eyes to her owner. Maggie clicked her tongue a couple times. “Callie, come here. I’m afraid this poor man is allergic to you…” The sneeze was enough of a give away for her to make an assumption there. Regardless not everyone liked the pets running about their feet and winding around their legs. Maggie was used to it, Calliope liked to be around her when she was working. It was fairly common for her to be working on her potions and have to step around or over Calliope in the process.

“Creatures are lovely though, aren’t they?” She bent down to scoop the Kneazle up and set her on her shoulders where it nuzzled against her cheek and then rested on her shoulders. It’s eyes on Newt at it settled to drape about her shoulders.

“Oh! Merlin’s beard… is that a Bowtruckle…??” Her eyes lit up as they rested on the little stick creature that was seemingly the ginger man’s friend or companion. "They’re so cute, I enjoy watching them after I get Doxy eggs for my potions.” She smiled, her eyes now flickering between the man’s face and the little creature nestled into his jacket.

"I’m Maggie by the way… Maggie Rosental.” She offered her hand, though nudged Calliope to the shoulder further away from the man in front of her. She didn’t want to bother his allergies any more than they already were. She didn’t have any sort of potion for allergies on her or she would have offered him one. They were simple to make. She just didn’t have a reason to carry them.

A gentle smile brushed Newt's lips and he looked down at the creature again, repeating her name softly to himself. It was an interesting name to say the least and yet it somehow seemed to fit the Kneazle perfectly. As she called the small beast over, he looked up at her in a bit of embarrassment. It was unfortunate to him that he couldn't give the feline a bit of a scratch behind the ears and in a way he felt sorry for his own avoidance. Still, he couldn't help but smile as he watched the feline wrap around her owner's shoulders. Clearly, the woman was well versed in the manners of Kneazle care-taking. This one, Calliope, seemed very fond of her, which was always a good sign. He hated to see any creature in any manner of distress.

"Yes, I do a bit of care-taking myself. I'm a magizoologist. Sort of a shame I'm not able to give your Kneazle here a bit of affection, really." He gave another light sniffle despite himself, his body seeming to try to prove a point. "She's quite lovely."

If only he had brought his suitcase along with him. She seemed the type to be interested in his own adopted collection he had rescued over the years, which was quite uncommon in most wizards and witches; precisely why he so often kept to himself. Most were keen to destroy any manner of magical beast the moment they laid eyes on it out of fear. He couldn't believe the number of extermination guides he found on bookshelves of late. All the more reason to get started on his textbook. Hopefully, it would educate fellow witches and wizards and save the magical beasts that were so quickly growing endangered.

His eyes brightened when she grew so over-joyed upon spotting Pickett. A soft grin tugged at his features as he looked down at the shy little Bowtruckle. "Oh, yes, that's Pickett," he replied, giving the creature a fond little pat as it purred and clicked at him for attention. "They're quite friendly if you're not going near their trees. Protective, mostly. I believe Pickett's gotten more attached to me than his own tree, though."

When she introduced herself, he gave a friendly smile and took her hand, giving it a firm shake. "Call me newt." Despite his interest in the Kneazle, he was rather grateful that she made an effort in keeping her at a distance. He was really quite embarrassed of his own allergy and hated to make such a fool of himself when he truly did adore the little bugger, but his own immunities had other ideas concerning cat hair.
