Just saw a post that had someone being catty and throwing around faggot derogatorily and I think some people gotta remember these are like. Slurs. Like it's fun to call myself a faggot cuz I am one but screaming it at someone I don't like isn't doing reclamation that's just. Being homophobic. We all know this right
like if I was unironically calling someone I didn't like a faggot tranny and the intent was clear then it's not being cute or funny or reclaiming it that's just being a massive dickhead. Like, I am a fag tranny myself and I wouldn't never fucking call someone that especially if I was trying to be bitter or rude. You all see this right. You sound like the kind of person that wants both of us dead.
i dont consider myself a 'fashion guru' by any means but one thing i will say is guys you dont need to know the specific brand an item you like is - you need to know what the item is called. very rarely does a brand matter, but knowing that pair of pants is called 'cargo' vs 'boot cut' or the names of dress styles is going to help you find clothes you like WAAAYYYY faster than brand shopping
this also goes for aesthetic or -core titles. 'y2k tank top' is going to get you resellers and fast fashion brands advertising to people looking to meet a current trend. 'thin strap crop tank top' is going to get you a diverse group of results and not upcharge you to hell and back
additionally, shop second hand when you can, second hand and thrift sites typically organize clothes by the cut and color. theyll be more affordable than a depop seller curating you a style to sell you
useful terminology for different kinds of clothing shapes :)
here are more terms! these are all from enérie. it is a really good blog that has lots of fashion terminology and it's a good mix of menswear and womenswear! they also have a book as well compiling all their diagrams. you could also look into getting a visual fashion dictionary for terms as well!
Pat Ningewance, a first language Ojibwe speaker, once commented that it was awfully hard to effectively translate a lot of English poetry into Ojibwe because there is no way to say things like “her slim arms” bc the only word in Ojibwe for anything like that basically sounds like “her arms were just skin and bones” while meanwhile there is a whole word that means “beautifully fat” (minogaamo) bc that was way more valued in Ojibwe culture than being skinny, which probably meant you were malnourished
For those expressing interest in Pat's work, I recommend her introduction and translation of Anishinaabe writer George Kenny's poems and short stories, Gaawiin Mawisiiwag Anishinaabeg / Indians Don't Cry, and the book she wrote of her mother's storytelling, Gii-nitaa-aadisooke. The second link goes to the publishing company she owns, which also has one of the best available textbooks for learning Ojibwe, titled Gookom's Language.
OMG I almost forgot, perhaps her magnum opus: Aakoziiwigamig, an Ojibwe-language radio drama set in a hospital where ABSOLUTELY BONKERS things happen constantly. Obviously if you don't know Ojibwe, you won't understand the audio, but they have the script transcribed and translated, so you can listen and follow along (and I HIGHLY recommend listening to at least one episode). They also have short language lessons you can use alongside each episode.
I'm not kidding about this show. Every single man in it is a worthless sleeze. There is a newborn baby who can talk like an old man. Kidnappers break in to the hospital in the first and second episode. There is potential arson. Someone wins the lottery. Seriously at least go read the episode descriptions and give it a chance.

hello fellow artists. google has fallen. pinterest/duckduckgo AI filters don't work. do not despair; here is a list i made of places to find reference images without having to sift through piles of worthless garbage. (for future editing convenience i am just linking my blog post on dreamwidth.)
