sometimes I’m reminded that there are still people who don’t know ao3 was literally created by incest shippers — and the site’s sole purpose is to 1. be completely against censorship and 2. host all kinds of dark, taboo fics that are banned on other platforms — and the first ever fic that was posted on ao3 was a fic about an incest ship from supernatural.

you are in the house that was created by freaks. for freaks (affectionate). every disgusting thing you can think of is rightfully allowed and welcomed on ao3, because they are exactly the reasons why ao3 was created in the first place.

ao3 was created because its creators got tired of censorship, they got tired of dark and taboo fics getting banned on pro-censorship platforms, and they wanted a place that was safe for ALL FICS THAT WERE DARK AND TABOO.

ao3’s main principle is being against censorship and being proship / profic.

there are some things in fiction that make me uncomfortable, but instead of shaming people who are just minding their own business and not harming anyone in real life, I choose to curate my own internet experience by blocking/muting what I don’t want to see. ao3 has excellent tagging system, so instead of being rude, instead of asking why the world doesn’t revolve around your personal comfort, use their tagging system properly and you won’t see the things you don’t want to see.

it’s your job to curate what you see. it’s not other people’s jobs or responsibilities to censor themselves for your personal comfort. the world does not revolve around you.

also you cannot censor “only the things you personally hate” without expecting everything else, that isn’t of conservative beliefs, to be censored too. because censorship is a slippery slope and a fascist tool. I promise you there are people who think “why do tags for queer love even exist on ao3? they’re grooming children”.

if you allow the things that you hate to be censored — because someone with enough power gets to control what other people can and cannot create/consume, it will not stop at the things that you hate.

God I hate when antis say a drawing is "CP" or calls someone out for "drawing CP"

1. The correct term is CSEM or CSAM

2. The E and A in these acronyms stand for "exploitation" and "abuse". Child Sexual Exploitation Material and Child Sexual Assault Material.

Fictional characters CANNOT be exploited or abused, as theyre not real. A drawing of a completely fictional character is not CSEM because there is NO CHILD BEING EXPLOITED.

CSEM/CSAM is bad because a REAL CHILD IS BEING EXPLOITED AND HARMED. NOT because its "icky". CSA is bad because it PHYSICALLY AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY HARMS A CHILD and stunts their mental development. The psychological effects last FOR LIFE even with treatment because it genuinely changes how the brain functions.

Someone can find nsfw lolisho gross. But its not CSEM. theres no child being exploited or abused there.

i saw an anti on twitter say that Lo'ak/Payakan (as a ship) was wrong and apparently a "proship" because it was bestiality

now lets use our brains here because i don't think that person (and quite frankly some of you also) didn't pay attention to the movies. the Tulkun are a fully sapient and sentient species as whale-like as they appear (i'll tackle this later bc i hate the wording and have my own gripes with it). they have their own names, own laws, own songs, own way of communicating and understanding the Na'vi who are a different species, own philosophical concepts and way of life, they're smarter than the Na'vi and that's an actual fact stated in the movie.

back to what i stated in parentheses, i also really hate how the Tulkun are viewed by some Avatar fans as being the equivalent of like a mount for Na'vi. like take what Seze and Sa'ata are to Neytiri. those are her mounts, and it's a way different relationship than what Ro'a and Ronal had. they aren't called spirit sisters for nothing. it leads me to believe that a lot of you only care about the alien characters when they look like a human and then you're are capable of relating to them. to relate this to the thing i mentioned: you're capable of seeing why Jake (who is a human even inside still, meaning different a species) would fall in love with Neytiri (is an actual person native to the planet and is biologically different from a human) only because Neytiri looks human enough for us to be able to comprehend and understand and not feel weird about finding attractive (even meta-wise the Na'vi were made to look a certain way and attractive so the audience could feel at ease)

tldr: no Lo'ak/Payakan isn't bestiality when Payakan and the Tulkun aren't animals.
