what is: reverse racism
whenever “strong female characters” insult men by calling them girls my eyes roll so far back in my head i can see my brain cells die
Precious Reminders to Self | Brittany Josephina
These are so good :)
Reddit became a web destination and a traffic powerhouse by virtue of the clicking, viewing, and typing habits of a relatively narrow subsection of Internet users. Seventy-four percent of Reddit users are men, the highest of any social networking website. Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube all come much closer to gender parity. Describing Reddit without making reference to its gender asymmetry is akin to reporting on Pinterest, which is 72 percent female, without noting that the site caters to women. And, indeed, when The New York Times reviewed Pinterest in 2012, they rightly referred to it as “female-oriented,” but when the CEO of a 74 percent male social network resigns after facing intense criticism from its users—much of it laced with misogyny—they somehow forget to label Reddit, in turn, as “male-oriented.” Reddit too often passes in the media as unmarked and neutral territory while sites like Pinterest get pigeonholed as girly.

Probably because in our society, men are viewed as the default. As ‘neutral’. Catering for men is the rule, while things for women are the deviation, the ‘other’.

when’s the last time you met someone who makes you want to write poetry?
week one complete in london and I’ve been to a festival, got sunburnt, stayed in 4 houses (and a tent) and am now settled into a house where no one talks to each other (fortunately it’s just a temporary arrangement) so I keep looking for words like “social” and “friendly” in share house ads because this is noT my lifestyle
Get him.
my father told me once to never date anyone who talks smoothly around you from the start because if someone likes you they should be a little nervous and honestly i think that’s some of the best advice anyone has ever given me
i told my dad about this text post and he got so excited he teared up and then he said he felt like he just adopted forty thousand new children to share his wisdom with and he hopes all of you meet kind, sweet people he would be proud of
