what to expect from this blog in the coming months
before I posted that poll last week (edit: over a year ago now), I already had a couple of WIPs I intended on finishing & posting before the art ideas from the poll. I decided to post the poll for two reasons!
1. because I was running out of WIPs that weren't big projects; I need to draw something simpler in-between working on bigger, more complex pieces in order to keep to my goal of posting art weekly without having to draw for like the entire week every time I decide to draw something a little more high-effort. (edit: wahh I don't care about this anymore man I'm sick of forcing myself to draw my simplest & easiest ideas when I wanna draw something bigger!! I'm just gonna start posting WIPs to make up for it..)
and 2. because I missed sketching on my amazon fire tablet but was too indecisive about which idea I should sketch next!
considering the first reason I probably shouldn't have put so many bigger ideas on the poll, but oh well hahaha. they still count towards my second reason!
anyway, let me tell you more about my current WIPs!
-a carnotaurus fullbody. this is what I intend to finish & post next week!
-a fullbody of my velociraptor oc, Scarlet! you may've seen her before in this post.
-a lineup featuring my new carnotaurus oc, Posy, at three different ages!
-my styracosaurus oc, Peater, meeting his big brother!
-Santa's eight reindeer! I intended to finish & post this on Christmas but procrastinated on it HEAVILY, whoops. now that I've missed the deadline there's even less urgency hahaha, but I think I'll still finish it eventually. it won't have a background or shading, but I'd still consider it a fairly big piece because of the whopping EIGHT characters! I'll probably draw & post some of the smaller ideas from the poll before I finish & post this. (update: I think I'm just gonna shelve this one, I haven't worked on it in over a year & as much as I like this idea I've got other ideas I'm more interested in rn & I really don't feel like digging this up)
-hatchling Peater finds a spider. this is also a bigger piece since it'll have a background. it's early enough into the process that I'm not sure yet how many other characters it'll have besides Peater. usually I'd include his whole herd but I'm not sure if I should this time! something interesting about this piece is that it takes place shortly before this one, which factors into my decision on whether & where to include the other characters.
so that's all the drawings that weren't in the poll you can expect to see in the next.. few months? we'll see how long they all take! (edit: this post is over a year old now XD)
as for the art ideas from the poll, the #1 winner was my artificer fanart idea! which I'm sorry is probably going to take a very long time.. because I kind of wanted to animate it! I didn't specify it in the poll post because there was & honestly still is a real possibility that I'd give up & tone down the scale of the project.. I'm really not much of an animator, I've made blinking animations on rare occasion but as much as I freaking LOVE animation as an observer & daydream about making my own animated movies & series so frequently, I could never seem to get into the habit of making animations myself!
buuut I really want to try... I know whenever I used to try to make animation memes, I would become overwhelmed, frustrated & give up pretty quickly.. maybe it'll be the same thing with this, but I'm going to try anyway. if I do give up on making it an animation, I'm confident I can make it into a comic! it would probably still take ages, but I could definitely do that!
anyway, because my artificer fanart idea is soooo big & ambitious (I've never made anything like it!) there is no way in heck I'm going to be able to post it very soon, sorry. but to make it up to the people who voted for it I think I'll post WIPs! so stay tuned for that.
Equus got second place! my main want for Equus rn is to make her an age lineup just like the one I made of Posy.
