One thing I'd still love For Meet Your Measure:

AU of Lady of Winterfell, where Baelor wins Maekar back (somehow...)

AU of an AU of a Fanfic lmfao — AU-ception!!! (Anything baekar from u is gold tho, so)

I’m crying 🤣🤣🤣 AU of an AU of an AU 😭😭😭 the multiverse is real!!

In my mind, the difference between the two universes is only that in Maekar of Winterfell, Bronwyn decides to hang out in the hallway and intercept Maekar after the dance when Baelor tells Maekar he deserves better. This is when he secures Maekar’s favor, makes his intentions known, and is made 200% sure that Maekar wants him too. In Meet Your Measure, Bronwyn never has the opportunity to ascertain Maekar’s regard to this extent and is therefore more vulnerable to Baelor’s threats!

So I’ve thought that in the Meet Your Measure verse, Maekar thinks very fondly of Bronwyn. It’s really not his fault that Baelor is a conniving little shit. Maekar regularly threatens to make his way north when Baelor pisses him off and he’s only mostly joking! If Bronwyn and Maekar both find themselves single, Maekar is making sure his children are safe and heading north for… reasons.

However in the Maekar of Winterfell verse, his brother’s name is a curse word! After all, after Maekar and Bronwyn made their promises in front of the Godswood, Baelor could’ve gone to Maekar and explained himself. He could’ve spilled his guts and told Maekar that though he had no idea how the two of them could be together, he couldn’t stand the idea of Maekar with someone else. Maekar saw himself as wedded beneath the weirwood, but he might have agreed to give Baelor time to figure his shit out if requested. Or perhaps he would’ve said okay loser you had your chance—I’m going north. Who knows! Instead, he picked the wrong one, and then followed up on his failure with trying to kill the poor dude. Maekar doesn’t even travel south of the neck until Baelor’s coronation. Despite having six or more children with Bronwyn, he does not send any of them out to be fostered, being very protective of them. When the older boys are teens, they’ll make their travels. I figure the tourney at Ashford will still happen, and by this point the corollary to Aerion, Edderion (can u believe that’s a real stark name? Mads is so smart), will be eager to prove himself as a talented knight in his own regard. He will not be stabbin’ horses and maiming puppeteers lmao; I’ve shared with my friends that I feel like this is the only context in which I could write something approaching dunkaerion. Dorren (corollary to Daeron) will also be traveling, and brooding prettily, suffering nobly like only the son of Bronwyn can suffer, but I think less of a drinker and more of a Helaena Targaryen style weirdo. I’m wondering if Aemon goes to the citadel in this universe. There is a LOT of possibility here so if anyone has even half an idea let me know because this is a playground that’s open to the public!!!

Ultimately I have no idea how Baelor could present himself to Maekar in a way that works for him unless Bronwyn is long dead, and even then I figure Maekar is eager to guide Dorren in his lordship over the North and help to raise his grandchildren. However if Baelor traveled North to make his suit, and Dorren were old enough, and maybe if Maekar got to take a grandchild with him??? Maybe if one of his children were marrying one of Baelor’s, or for some other reason were headed to court, and he felt like he needed to accompany them? Maybe then it’s totally fuckin’ possible.

Renewed interest in Bronwyn thanks to the renewed interest in Meet Your Measure 🥰 I’m still stunned that more than seven of us freaks had any interest in the Stark OC I only wrote to make Baelor jealous, but here we are imagining their future together and the MaeStarklings and how they’d turn out. I’m beyond thrilled and honored to share my joy dudes

I was talking with Lu the other day about Bronwyn, and how even in the Meet Your Measure universe where Maekar ends up with Baelor, Maekar occasionally wonders what might have been with the first man who was open and honest in his regard. If they chance to meet as older men, Bronwyn would of course request the honor of a dance and Maekar would of course consent.

However, in the Maekar of Winterfell universe, Maekar won’t go south of the neck for anything less than a coronation. My guy does not trust southerners.
