Fayette Morrigen • Lady in the Stormlands • Unmarried
Home Location: Storm’s End • TAKEN • FC Chosen: Adelaide Kane
History: Fayette is actually part Baratheon; Fayette’s maternal great-grandfather was Ser Harbert Baratheon, a castellan of Storm’s End who was also Stannis Baratheon’s grand-uncle. So while she claims no Targaryen blood, she does have the latest dynasty’s bloodlines in her veins. Fayette’s father was Lord Lester Morrigen of Crows Nest, a staunch advocate of the Baratheon reign, which makes sense considering the family tie. Both of Fayette’s uncles died serving Stannis Baratheon. Her younger uncle, Ser Guyard the Green, was in King Renly’s Rainbow Guard and, after Renly’s death, died during the Battle of the Blackwater serving Stannis; the elder uncle, Ser Richard, died during the War of the Others on the Wall. Lord Lester was the only one of his brothers to survive all of the terrors involved in the wars. He had three children: his son and heir, Allister, and then daughters Fayette and Linette. Linette was three years younger and a frail, sickly child, though she had these big doe eyes and an affection for her older sister than Fayette couldn’t resist. She doted on Linette often, reading her stories and carrying her about the castle when she didn’t have the strength to walk. Linette’s illness saddened Fayette, because Fayette loved nothing more than the outdoors. She enjoyed horseback riding and hawking best of all, neither of which Linette had the stamina to do with her. Fayette had a world of patience for her baby sister, though, and didn’t mind staying indoors at times, teaching Linette cyvasse and discussing literature as they grew older.
Apart from the death of her uncles, wartime didn’t touch their family, mostly because Lord Lester kept his heir at home—despite Allister’s protests—to protect Claw Isle rather than trek north, and of course neither Fayette nor Linette would fight. Politics was always a hot topic of conversation as the realm swung wildly from one King to the next, but as war died down and winter survival was the primary concern, there was a cold contentment afoot. Winter hit Linette hard and Fayette stayed by her little sister’s bedside for weeks at a time, spoon-feeding her broth with marrow and wiping her brow, praying every day to bring her back from the brink of death. One morning, winter broke, and so did Linette’s fever. It was a miracle. Linette seemed to get stronger with each passing day, stronger than she’d ever been as a girl. With spring hatched, Fayette couldn’t have been happier. The Baratheons had their own throne; it was time for horsing and hawking; and for once, Fayette could do her favourite things with her sister. The two even took a holiday to the Reach, where Fayette heard that newly-crowed King Willas was a master at breeding the animals that Fayette so loved. She was honoured when the Tyrells invited them into one of their afternoon excursions. On the way back, Fayette met Willas—and he’s been on her mind ever since. He had such a way with the animals, and such a kind smile, but there was a sadness that hung in his eyes she ached to kiss away. She had thought he was married, such a winsome man as that, but when she learned he was unfortunately a widower… Well, none of that could matter, right? Willas probably didn’t even notice her.
Personality: Fayette is a young woman full of optimism and the verdant vibrance of life. She has a love of all living things, both animals and men, and she is practiced in the healing arts. She is ever active, always looking to do something, who hates sitting still unless it’s for a good book or a game of cyvasse. Because she is well-read, Fayette has a font of odd facts and seemingly endless knowledge, though none of it of any true import. Fayette has not had a need to delve into the intricacies of politics as her family stayed loyal to the Baratheons throughout all of the recent wars, so what was good for the Baratheons was good for her and there was little intrigue around her House. She was invited to become a lady at Queen Shireen’s Court, so she is beginning to realize the way she has been sheltered. With the realm finally settling into a much-needed peaceful era, Fayette is full of hope and happiness. She hadn’t had any marriage prospects because many of the young men were off at war, but they’re all back now and Fayette is excited to interact with them. Of course, she still has a vehement crush on Willas, but she’s afraid he is out of her league.
