Of course we will, we - well, I always do. There wonāt be, Willas, I can assure you of that, you are surrounded by too many friendly faces for a fate to fall upon you. By the way, I just wanted your opinion on this, but - it is mine that your Kingsguard is too small to be effective, brother.
Ah, I have noticed the issue as well.. The council must meet to discuss this immediately. Do you have any suggestions in particular, brother? Perhaps we may scout the competitors at the tourney for potential candidates.
Ā Such a funny thing, the idea of a Kingsguard. A man requiring the protection of other men is usually viewed as such a feeble being, and yet, every King in Westeros requires a fleet to ensure his safety. Perhaps we are not all as different as one might think.
You read of greenseers and wargs as a child? Ā I did not think such tales reached so far south.
Aye, but only a select few have heard tales from the past about such subjects of mystery. The fact that the bond between man and animal may very well have the capacity to stretch so deeply within the human mind and transcend the spiritual realm leaves more questions than answers, unfortunately, though a fascinating idea all the same.Ā
Welcome, family and friends to this most joyful and blessed event.
We gather here together to celebrate the beauty around us even during times of tension and strife. We're thankful that the gods have blessed us with yet another Spring, which brings its bountiful harvest and new beginnings. Let us retire into the great hall where you will be served a sumptuous feast, followed by music and dancing. As you enter the hall, please enjoy wearing the wreaths adorned with the golden roses of House Tyrell - a sign of appreciation to the gods and our guests alike. Please keep your crowns at hand, for at the end of the feast - there shall be a game, and a prize for whoever wins the wreath toss. So begins our festivities.Ā
And, of course, we have multiple members from each house, and I believe they both have some from supporting houses, as well. Iāll be sure to pay attention to them, brother. Yes, exactly - stay vigilant. Iāll be by your side for almost the entire celebration but if I cannot for some reason, you must be ready for anything.
I expect you and the guards to carry concealed weapons. Surely you understand that I don't want another Red Wedding on my hands.
I cannot see how anyone could not appreciate the beauty here. And my father is well, your grace. Unfortunately he and my mother will not be able to make it to the celebrations, as he has just started to get better from a terrible cold and the maester at home forbids his travel.
Tell your father that I wish him well and hope that he will recover quickly. He will be greatly missed by all in attendance.Ā
It would be my pleasure, your grace. Highgarden looks so beautiful, it is truly a sight to behold. My father often asks why I do not return home more often, and I always tell him it is because of Highgardenās beauty.
Aye, it is quite beautiful, and it brings me great delight to know that others think the same as well. How does your father fare? Well, I hope.
I have heard you and your family have made plenty preparations to make this event the best we had in years. There is something in particular, your Grace. But I suppose I will spend most of my time to seeing all the different activities.
Do you have any suggestions on things I definitely should see before returning home?
You should definitely accompany me for a walk through the flower gardens. They have a vast variety of vegetation, pools, and fountains of many a kind. Some areas - more manicured, and others, more wild. There are several sitting areas, each one unique in nature. Watching the birds and animals of the Reach in the valleys have always been one of my favorite past times. The air is so sweet during the Spring..Our gardens are the closest thing to the Ultimate Rest that I can imagine.
The godswood is huge. Ā It sprawls for acres and it is quite easy to get lost in for a time. Ā The weirwood heart tree stands tall and majestic in the center. Ā The bark is white as snow and the leaves red as blood against the green of the other trees. Ā It is majestic. Ā It was beautiful when Rickon and I wed there.
Aye, my Lady, your union sounds like it must have been quite the awe-inspiring occasion. I have always dreamt of seeing one, as I said before. Reading the tales of greenseers and wargs as a child never failed to spark my imagination.
Iām only doing my job, Willas, but I thank you anyhow. ā¦I will do so if I notice the tension, brother, though Iām not exactly sure who you might mean. Iām sure it will be. Everyone should be on their best behavior, you might just be worrying too much.
The ongoing bitterness between the Starks and Lannisters, due to their dreadful past, has left me a bit concerned, I must admit. Better to be prepared for the worst while hoping for the best, I suppose.
I am looking forward to my arrival at Highgarden, your Grace. It sadly has been awhile since my last visit.Ā
Aye, we have been looking forward to your arrival, My Lady. There will be many events that I'm sure will keep a woman of your degree preoccupied here at Highgarden. Was there anything in particular that you were looking forward to seeing or doing while you were here?
āA Formal Decree From The King of the Reachā
My esteemed guests and faithful friends,
As we usher in a beautiful Spring season, I am delighted to welcome one and all to Highgarden.Ā On behalf of the entire kingdom, I extend to you a very warm welcome and trust your visit with us will be both enjoyable and comfortable. For the young women, we have scheduled hair styling and flower arranging competitions. Children might enjoy turtle racing or our pie eating contests, and for the men, there will be a greased pig catching game. Archery will be available for our more active guests, and there will be a jousting tourney later in the week. Of course, viewing of the flowers and wine tasting will be an ongoing event throughout the weeks as well.
TheĀ itineraries are posted on bulletin boards throughout the Castle grounds, and they are being passed out to you now.Ā At the feast, there will be offered a wide variety of meals, of which I hope you will enjoy.Ā Should you require any assistance or have any specific requirements, please do not hesitate to contact me or any of myĀ advisers. Please keep in mind that this is an event of harmony and unity. Any rabble-rousers shall be escorted back to their quarters, and if persistent in their behavior, shall be asked to leave.
With best regards,
Yours sincerely,
Willas Tyrell, King of the Reach
I hope so, as well. I will try to do my part, at least - Iām to stay by your side anyhow, and the reminder of your Kingsguard wonāt go amiss. The willow bark should also do well to counteract any headaches should our guests drinkĀ tooĀ much of this concoction of yours. Iāll be sure to keep my eyes open for any rising tension, and though you know that any aimed at you is my first priority, Iāll be sure to monitor the safety of our guests, as well.Ā
Grammarcy, dear brother, you are a blessing to us all. Try to keep an eye on our guests whom tension is more.. prevalent within their households. I suppose I'm just a bit nervous, we haven't had these many guests at the Reach in a good long while. All will be well, have no doubt.
It is so exciting for spring to be here once more, the winter had been dreadfully long, Iām happy to put it behind be.
And I am also happy to be returning home for the festival.Ā
Aren't we all, sister? You're looking as beautiful as always, might I add. Your gown is certain to bring a quiver to many a man's knee tonight. Has travel been kind to you? Highgarden truly hasn't been the same without you - one small mention of your presence at the celebration and all were elated.
It is quite beautiful now that spring is finally upon us. Ā The people have longed for this for such a long time. Ā It is truly a shame that you have not had a chance to see the Weirwood. Ā It is quite beautiful, and my favorite place in all of Winterfell.
Please, tell me about it. Is it truly as magical as I've heard? Topics of conversation such as these never cease to fascinate my wandering mind.
Of course, your grace. I pay a lot of attention to the times that I get to see you whenever I am in Highgarden.
Why, my lady, you are simply full gracious words that I couldn't manage to express gratitude for. Why don't we take a brief walk around the gardens? I shall like to hear your opinion on these decorations.
I suppose so, though if our guests are that intelligent they would not dare try attack us in our home, would they? And yes, I am more than well aware of the fact that you tend to see even enemies as allies. You donāt have any concerns about any particular guests, do you? Because if you do, I could keep an eye on them for you.
If our guests have their wits about them, I should hope we will finish the festival smoothly and unscathed. I have spoken with our Grand Maester regarding the possibility of filling the wine with an extract of willow bark, of which I have read has the abilities to calm the nerves and tensions of those who might drink at our feast. I want to ensure this is kept a peaceful celebration, as we all do - I'm sure.
