"Don't Stop" by Foster The People (TheFatRat Remix)
We've found an awesome artist/dj/remixer, whatever you want to call it. His name is TheFatRat and he is pretty dope. He's got a bunch or remixes, but we're really feeling this one of "Don't Stop" by Foster The People. He's from Germany and you can really picture his music playin' in some euro club and raging to it. "Somebody that I used to Know" by Walk Off The Earth.
This video by Walk Off The Earth is probably the most creative music video I've seen since Atomic Tom shot themselves playing Take Me Out on their iPhones. The song is originally by Gotye, a Belgian band, but this quintet certainly does the song justice while managing to put on one hell of a show. Their song is available on iTunes, and their other music is available on their youtube channel
"King" by Corey McLemore.
Most of you have probably not heard of Corey McLemore before. If you have, it's probably because he has been in a number of Brad Doggett, who is known for acoustic covers on Youtube. Corey McLemore dropped a mixtape during the summer and "King" was one of the shining tracks off that mixtape. Hope to see a lot more music from him. Give this a listen!
"Paradise City" by Mickey Avalon & Cisco Adler.
This isn't new, but its a goodie. Mickey Avalon and Cisco Adler teamed up on a song off Cisco's, "supercalifornialipsticksexymagicdopeshit" mixtape. This song has a dope sample of Paradise City by Guns 'n Roses. Mickey and Cisco did a dope job teaming up on this song. Give it a listen!
"Feelin' Like Ooh" by Easy Does It.
Easy Does It is a rock/hip hop band out of Atlantic City in Dirty Jersey. They've got a really chill and relaxed feel. It reminds me of Citizen Cope meets Shwayze and Cisco Adler. This song just makes us wanna do some summertime chillin'. Give it a listen! It's well worth it!
"Polos and Solos" by Split Second.
How much more appropriate could a song be the FCL? This song is off the Polos and Solos mixtape by Split Second and came out last year. Polos, Solos, and beach house? How could we not love this song. The beat is pretty solid and the lyrics could be a bit better, but we'll take it and enjoy. Give it a listen!
"Lights (Can You Keep it)" by Aer.
Aer is a duo out of neighboring Massachusetts and they're killing it. They have smooth tracks with good flows. The group has that mellow Sublime feel in their awesome instrumentals. This song is Lights and its off their recent mixtape called "The Reach." Head over to iTunes and download their most recent EP and search the web for their mixtapes, you won't be dissapointed.
"Blinded By The Light" by Manfred Mann Earth Band
It's Throwback Thursday and what better song than "Blinded by the Light" by Manfred Mann. This classic his #1 in February of 1977. The song was originally recorded by Bruce Springsteen in 1972, but version we remember is Manfred Mann's version. You may also remember this song from Blow or Running With Scissors. Give it a listen and enjoy.
"L.E.S." by Childish Gambino
Here at the FCL, we've been jamming to Childish Gambino (Donald Glover, the actor and comedian) for a while. Today, he dropped his first commercial album called "Camp." Go pick it up, its pretty dope. This is "L.E.S." off the album. Give it a listen, its got some great lines.
"The World Is Yours" by Nas.
It's Throwback Thursday and how could you go wrong with some throwback Nas. The World is Yours' is off Illmatic, one of the best hip hop albums of all times. The song was produced by Pete Rock, who also lays down the chorus for the song. This is the song that started the Jay Z vs Nas feud, when Jay sampled it in his song "Dead Presidents." Anyways, take a minutes and give this song a listen. If you have time, listen to the whole album.
"Safe and Sound" by Capital Cities.
Capital Cities is an electro-pop band out of southern California. "Safe and Sound" is the lead track off the band's self-titled EP. This song will get you dancing. I'd suggest throwing this track on the iPod for when hitting the gym or cruisin' down the highway. Check it out!
They are currently on tour and you can catch them at the Middle East in Boston on October 1st or at Piano's in NYC on October 4th.
"They Call Me" by Bei Maejor ft. Mike Posner
This is some easy listening rap with a laidback piano sample (from "Winds of Change" by Fitz and Tantrums.) "They Call Me" is off Bei Maejor's new tape called maejorMaejor. Bei Maejor kills it on the rap and Posner lays down some vocals to make this track pretty sweet. Give it a listen, its definitely worth it.
D.Veloped - The Childish Games.
It's Throwback Thursday, but we have something a little more untraditional. The instrumental is a classic (Yes, It is Backstreet Boys). Enjoy this bumpin mashup.
P-Holla - Who Cares At FCL we're all about dope samples, and here we have a pretty sweet track by P-Holla sampling Sara Bareilles' 'King of Anything.' It's heavy on the bass which makes for a great track to bump while pre-gaming for the start of the semester parties.
"Picture Has Changed." by VIBE.
As the summer comes to an end, here's a laid back chill track to throw on. Its not too often we hear artists rap over an Ukulele based track. Overall the sound goes down smooth, so turn it up and zone out.
"Save Tonight" by Eagle Eye Cherry.
It's Throwback Thursday at the FCL, and what better song than "Save Tonight" by Eagle Eye Cherry. This song came out in the States in '98 and peeked at #5 on the charts. This is one of those songs thats perfect for a campfire acoustic jam session or cruisin' down the highway. Give it a listen and let the memories come rushing back.
"Everything You Want" by Vertical Horizon.
It's Throwback Thursday, as well as Alive at Five, in Stamford. What better song for today than, "Everything You Want." This is one of those throwback songs from middle school/ high school back in 2000. If you're in the area, head on down to Stamford to rock out with Vertical Horizon. It's hot, so keep hydrated with a cold one.
