its really pissing me off that people who havent read the odyssey or understood the themes of it are reviewing the new odyssey movie as the best odyssey movie ever. like mfer i hate to be that guy but were you blind? like yeah it doesnt need to be 100% accurate, but hot take athena doesnt give a shit about troy or who died. like dude she fully supported the trojan horse, and in some translations ever provided them with it. posiedon doesnt care about zeus's law, he's just upset that odysseus hurt his son and therefore himself and now he needs to do something about that. calypso was also a piece of shit, tbf she was also pretty bad in the movie but in the book she keeps him trapped for 7 years and odysseus knows and hes fucking miserable the entire time, its only with hermes coming down and being like "you gotta let him go man" does she let him go and even then (if i remember correctly) she still tries to get him to stay. like i guess its nicer in the movie if she does it of her own volition but the gods in greek myths are almost like children theyre so drunk with power, and calypso is pissy that her crush cant stay w/ her. like you cant say the gods are upset with them when they started the war in the first place and actively took place in it for fun.

also im kinda upset they cut the olive tree bed scene ngl. i get why they didnt put it in but like... its so iconic
