This half man show⌠is it queer bait or should I watch it?
queerbaiting is the least of your worries
[about to be dropped into the shark tank] hey is the water cold?
âĄď¸ Content warnings on fiction are a courtesy.Â
âĄď¸ Not every medium of fiction and storytelling has or is expected to have content warnings or extensive tagging.
âĄď¸ Print novels do not traditionally warn for content in any way.
âĄď¸ Until AO3 came along, fanfiction did not traditionally warn for content in any significant way.
âĄď¸ An author is only obligated to warn for content to the degree mandated by the format they publish their fiction on.
âĄď¸ Content warnings beyond the minimum are a courtesy, not an obligation.
âĄď¸ 'Creator chose not to warn' is a valid tag that authors are allowed to use on AO3. It means there could be anything in there and you have accepted the risk. 'May contain peanuts!'
âĄď¸ Writers are allowed to use 'Creator chose not to warn' for any reason, including to maintain surprise and avoid spoilers.
âĄď¸ 'Creator chose not to warn' is not the same thing as 'no archive warnings apply'.
âĄď¸ It is your responsibility to protect yourself and close a book, or hit the back button if you find something in fiction that you're reading that upsets you.
âĄď¸ You are responsible for protecting yourself from fiction that causes you discomfort.
That last one bears repetition.
You are responsible for protecting yourself from fiction that causes you discomfort.
no one cares that you shave your legs because of sensory issues shut the fuck up forever
really galling amount of people misinterpreting this post so i'd like to clarify. i'm saying that when discussions about patriarchal beauty standards and the way women are heavily shamed and coerced into eschewing their own natural state of being (hairy) are occurring, it is unhelpful (AT BEST) to interrupt and say that the reason YOU remove the hair from your body is because of sensory issues. that's not what we're talking about. stop asking for validation for doing something that society at large wants you to do. stop derailing the conversation because you feel uncomfortable about being made aware that you, for whatever reason it is, adhere to harmful, unfair and ridiculous beauty standards. you're stepping into the middle of an important conversation that needs to be had and making it all about you. shut the fuck up forever.
also quite frankly i think a lot less people would experience sensory issues if they let their hair grow out so that it isn't bristly and rough and irritating. and i cannot help but wonder why these sensory issues aren't as predominant in men. maybe you're uncomfortable with the hair on your body because you've been taught to be uncomfortable with it. just a thought.
There is nothing that compares to feeling mildly depressed after another completely mediocre day and see a new fic by your favorite author unexpecedly pop up in your fandom tag.

Hi minnie! Was so excited to see the teaser drop that I can't imagine what I'm going to be when we have an actual trailer!! I'm quite confused though, the teaser makes it seem that this was the first time they actually met in person, although i was under the impression that they'd already met at some point in 2023- 2024?
hi honey! i knowwww, look at the state we're all in after those five seconds of footage đ this documentary will mean certain death for most of us (but what a way to go...)
oh yes, iirc, the official story they're going with for the doc is that they've got footage of the moment noel and liam met for the first time in in years, isn't it? (although i don't think what we saw in the teaser was that supposed footage - it seemed to me the teaser just meant to give that impression through clever editing, but who knows!)
however, i very much doubt that's true anyway. i just can't see it. i have to preface the rest of this by saying that there are other people in this fandom who no doubt have a much firmer grasp of the timeline than i do, so if anything i say here is blatantly wrong, feel free to correct me! but personally, i think noel and liam talked on and off over the years anyway, but were already in contact more frequently and consistently around or just after the time of noel's divorce. and i agree with you - it seems most likely to me that they first met up in private probably in 2023 or even before.
not least because apparently, the reunion tour was already in the works for about a year before it was announced in august 2024, and i think there's absolutely no way noel would've agreed to do a huge global reunion tour with liam without having met with him in person beforehand and feeling at the very least more comfortable around him again (and vice versa), and at least somewhat confident that this would actually work out. there was just too much at stake for him to commit to it otherwise imo, both personally and professionally (same for liam).
so it wouldn't make any sense for there to be footage of their "first meeting" because a) it just doesn't make sense chronologically, and b) i think they're far too private for that and too aware of how delicate the situation was at that point, you know? because no matter how candid they seem to be about their relationship, it's pretty obvious that there's a significant part of it that is still very private and will always remain that way. they are willing to let people share in their lives and relationship to a certain extent, but there are some doors they'll never allow cameras behind (to use one of noel's own beloved metaphors).
so aside from the fan experience stuff, the documentary is almost certainly going to be a carefully constructed narrative consisting of exactly what noel and liam are willing to share about their lives & relationship, and not a smidge more than that. as per usual with these guys, i believe there's going to be plenty of half-truths and white lies and lacunae in the narrative that most people will (pretend) not to notice (such as footage that's made to look like it's of the two of them meeting for the first time in years). we're just going to have to have to use our critical thinking skills and read between the lines to get the full story, just like we always do!
The world is more fun when Liam is active on twitter, I have to give him that.
âwe can work it outâ is a good song because it demonstrates how annoying paul would be to get in an arguement with
also i seem to have developed a reputation among my family for being willing to die on any hill. This is patently absurd. Im willing to die on specific hills, of which there are many and in locations that strike witnesses as odd and arbitrary
One thing that I like very very much about the way Black Sails handles Miranda is that like. Sheâs obviously dead from the beginning; she represents the hope of reconciliation, and thereâs only one way for that to end.
But.
But, in any other show, they would have forced her to die innocent. Not of everything, perhaps. She could be allowed to know she was betrayed before she died; showing her shock and sorrow would heighten the tragedy. But still, it would have to have blindsided her. She wouldnât have gotten a word in edgewise. Other characters would be able to use âthis isnât what she would have wantedâ against Flint. This is all very classic for this type of plot beat.
Which is why itâs so great that the show doesnât go that way. Miranda dies, yes. She dies quickly and brutally and at the hands of a person who didnât give a fuck about her as a person. But she does get something; she gets to die enraged.
She is the one who sees the clock. She is the one who puts it together. She is the one who weighs the choice: go along with the reconciliation she pushed for and wanted, or take the violent path, with all the miseries of the last ten years and the risk of death?
And she chooses. She dies for it in the very next instant, but she chose.
Which is a hell of a lot more respectful of her as a character than dying still wanting Englandâs forgiveness would have been.
Waaoow have you heard this version of Slide Away? The man that says 'my songs are nonsense they don't mean anything they're just words nothing to see here move on just enjoy the melody' and then proceeds to sing this like his heart and soul is slapping the face of everyone in the audience. He is singing this very definitely and directly to a single person in his head, who is not female and is also probably his brother.
Watch out for the lyric changes đď¸đđď¸
oh. oh shit. I'm literally shaking holy fuck.
I also wrote out the lyric changes because I have issues with hearing and processing but like. you HAVE to listen to this because typing it cannot encapsulate how he's singing it
Slide away, give it all youâve got My today fell in from the top I dream of you and all the things you say I wonder where you are now
Hold me down, 'cause all the worldâs asleep I need you now youâve got me on my knees And I dream of you and I thought of growing old But you said âPlease donâtâ
So slide in baby, together weâll fly Iâve tried praying But I donât know what youâre saying to me
But now that youâre mine Weâll find a way Of chasing the sun Let me be the one that shines with you Cause in the morning I donât know what to do We're two of a kind Weâll find a way To do what weâve done So let me be the one that shines with you And we can slide away Slide away Slide away Away
Slide away give it all youâve got My today fell in from the top And I dream of you and all the things you say Yeah, I wonder where you are now
So slide in baby, together weâll fly Iâve tried praying And I know just what youâre saying to me
Now that youâre mine Weâll find a way Of chasing the sun Let me be the one that shines with you Cause in the morning I donât know what to do Weâre two of a kind Weâll find a way To do what weâve done Oh, let me be the one who shines with you And we can slide away Slide away Slide away Slide away Slide away And I wanna try now, I'm gonna make you mine now And I wanna try now, I'm gonna make you mine now And I wanna try now, I wanna make you mine now And I wanna try now, I'm gonna make you mine now
Oohhhh, Ooh-oohhhh! Oohhhh, Ooh-oohhhh! I donât know, I donât care All I know is you can take me there I donât know, I donât care All I know is you can take me there I donât know, I donât care All I know is you can take me there I donât know, I donât care All I know is you can take me there Take me there, take me there, take me there Take me there, take me there, all I know is you can take me there You gotta take me there, take me there, take me there Take me there Slide away Slide away Slide away Slide away...
A Timeline of Oasis August-September 1996
Making a timeline because these are the most insane two months anyone's ever had. Also for me and @glossymint 's fic purposes
[At the start of July, Liam and Patsy get engaged. Noel finds out through rumours and the press. According to Noel, Liam finally tells him in Birmingham, around July 18. From there there's no gigs until Loch Lomond]
August 1 -> Liam and Patsy's engagement is officially made public. (x)
August 2 -> Loch Lomond soundcheck, Liam and Noel have an argument and Noel sees a worker die the night before the show.
August 3 ->First Loch Lomond gig. Interviews with MTV, Liam and Noel do separate interviews, a bit tense. Liam and Noel kiss at the start of the gig.
August 4 -> second Loch Lomond gig
August 10 & 11 -> Knebworth gigs
From August 16 to August 22 -> rehearsals for the MTV Unplugged performance. On the last day Liam and Noel come to blows during the rehearsals, Liam refuses to sing and Oasis rehearses while Liam claps on the front row. (Hewitt, 1997, p.346)
August 23 -> MTV Unplugged performance. Liam refuses to sing due to a sore throat, watches Noel peform from the balcony.
August 27 -> the band arrive at Heathrow airport to set out for a three-week American tour. Liam gets off the plane and the band travel without him. Liam says that he can't travel with the band because he needs to do house hunting for him and Patsy.
Oasis perform in Chicago without Liam, Noel is on vocals.
August 28 -> The gig gets cancelled "for last minute MTV Awards rehearsals". Noel talks to the press, defends Liam's choice to leave the tour and assures that Oasis aren't breaking up.
August 29 -> Liam arrives to the US and is back with the band, says he already sorted out the house and that him and Noel "are sweet"
September 3 -> Rehearsals for the MTV Awards in New York.
September 4 -> Performance at the MTV Awards, every band who performs is interviewed except for Oasis. In response, Liam mocks and swears at the audience, changes the lyrics of Champagne Supernova to "Champagne Supernova up yer bum" and spits on stage.
September 11 -> Before the Charlotte gig, Liam and Noel allegedly come to blows. The gig gets cancelled. One of the rumors that was circulating was that Noel was upset that the Charlotte venue was downsized from Independence Arena to the Charlotte Hornets Training Facility (x). The rest of the US tour is cancelled.
â The Charlotte Observer
September 12 -> Noel comes back from the US tour, the press is filled with rumours that Oasis is breaking up, lead by The Sun's front cover reporting Oasis had "sensationally split up".
September 13 -> In the morning, Patsy (staying in LA at the time) appears on TV and says: 'I don't know anything. I haven't spoken to Liam. As far as I know, he's on a plane back to London. I'm bewildered by the whole thing.'
Liam and the rest of the band arrive at the airport. A group of men take Liam to a house in the country where Noel is expecting him. (Furmanovsky, 1997)
In the afternoon, Creation Records and Ignition Management issue a statement saying the band is not breaking up, that Liam and Noel are spending time together and getting over jet lag:
The rest of the tour dates are cancelled.
September 21 -> Liam's 24th birthday.
This same day, Melody Maker publishes an article detailing the events of the US tour with quotes by people from Creation. This article also says that: "Noel and Liam left London for a secret location where they met up and were still together as we went to press."
