So. Every year at a corporate job, you usually have to do software security cover-your-ass training that typically involves watching a video in which a person overacting their first day on earth is presented with a phising email from [email protected] that reads like "hi, I'm a scam but I would love if you'd click this payment link and type in your credit card number and social security number". You will then be presented with a series of Difficult Questions such as "should you click the link in the scam email" with multiple choice answers such as "yeah I love scams and want all my data stolen" and "no of course not".

Once you pass, IT will usually send you a similar test email from iwanttostealyourdata dot com that says something like "click the link below to send someone about to commit a financial crime your credit card number and home address"

And not to be a judgemental software developer on main but even if you're the bootlickiest person alive and have 0 issues with age verification and love to blindly trust daddy government's decisions about requiring age verification (you shouldn't), please know that as we speak, the most overpaid, underqualified corporate decision maker you know, who has access to a data warehouse of sensitive personal data, is enthusiastically clicking "yeah I love scams and want all my data stolen" on the phishing training options and is blacking out and responding to the IT training email with every piece of biometric data they have access to like some kind of sailor hypnotized to meet fate by a siren song. And there's like a 99.999999% chance they are also using the password "password" across every site they have access to. So just sit with that for a moment before you cave and hand your life to a social media site.

I can't tell if people are joking but sometimes this is legitimately a good idea. One of the comic series I have out now is essentially a rehashed idea of a thing I came up with when I was younger. A lot of ideas I had when I was young were more fun than the ones I have now, because I wasn't completely broken as a human being yet, and I still got excited about things and let my imagination run around and do its thing. The thing is when I was young, I didn't have the drawing skill or life experience to execute the idea well. Now I have that, so I can combine powers with small me to make something readable that looks decent. Yeah, it's valid to use the same recipe to make a new cake if you fucked it up the first time and are coming back to it after practicing baking and cake decorating for years.

I feel like so many of the responses I've gotten across various websites are from people who blacked out when they saw "paid" and didn't read much else or are spam bots or using AI. Half the time people aren't even reading the high level details, and I know nothing about them as far as experience or age or whatnot. :( but see this is a really important project to me and also I intend to record during a live directed session, so it's really important that I know someone will be comfortable with that, and with the material. It's a blatantly queer, anti-imperialist narrative (at least I tried) and I need to make sure someone is on board with that.

So yeah, if you fit this, please send me a message or comment or whatnot. (I gotta figure out where all y'all are hiding for future projects too. Even people I don't pick I still add to my mental roster of AHA A REAL PERSON)

I think I mentioned one of the 40000 animations I'm working on simultaneously is for a contest I'm coming up on the first deadline of. It's gonna be a sci fi stop motion short, loosely based on this weird ass dream I had one time where these kids were trying to escape a city after all the adults had died.

how to erase pencil guidelines from under ink

1. wait until you’re absolutely sure the ink is dry

#I've been doing this for like 20+ years #Use a white poly eraser not artgum or anything else #Also the ink and paper you use MATTER A LOT #I use copics and Bristol board #But microns work too #You can also use a dip pen but leave it overnight #Also everyone is lying and insane when they say use an hb or harder pencil you just dig into the page and make erasing harder #Use something soft and thin and draw light #Honestly I've always just used a mechanical pencil or sometimes a drafting pencil if I'm feeling fancy #Also take a kneadable eraser and give the page a once over to remove any really loose graphite before you ink #It'll lighten your image a little but not that much

Not for anything major but I'm making a stop motion short for a contest (yes I love getting distracted from my main project) and I've got a couple characters I am not keen on attempting myself. Can't offer a ton of money but I'm thinking about 50-150 USD right now depending on the part (negotiable, I will let interested people read the script to decide). This is a small indie/non-union production.

The story is about a teenager named Jel who lives in a futuristic, city-like outpost on a distant planet. The outpost supports research efforts on the planet and is constructed over one of many mysterious large holes that channel steam and heat for the residents. Things go to hell when giant quakes begin destroying the outpost from within, including the power station and the residences for grown ups. Jel, the oldest resident of the Nursery Complex - the safest part of the outpost and where children grow up, is the only one who can try to make it out to get help, but they discover that the quakes are caused by something they never could have suspected. Something that will make them have to reconsider whether the outpost should exist at all.

here are 2 parts I'm looking for right now. (Maybe more when I polish my script but just 2 for now):

Jel: 16, non binary, white. A teenager intent on becoming part of the outpost's ecosystem research team. Feels the need to project maturity and keep it together, but slips up from time to time.

Mavi: 15, girl, Black. Loves electronics and computers and has a program for everything. Jel's best friend who is resourceful and enthusiastic, but does get anxious sometimes when the stress is too much.

I'm not super worried about experience level if you are a fit :) although it would be good if you have the ability to do a high quality recording on your end since I can't really afford to rent a studio for you at the moment 😬. If you're interested feel free to dm or comment where I can hear some samples of your work so I can see what you sound like :)

Edit: I do need you to be 18+ because this technically requires you to enter into a contract and I'm not really equipped to work with minors in that capacity.

Also because this came up - the non binary character leans more masc but this is also a world where gender presentation/performance/identity/stuff being masc or fem doesn't necessarily line up with today's cisnormative behavior/appearsnce standards and like, if you're some other type of non binary but comfortable with any type of character, you're welcome to express interest. Just trying to give y'all first dibs before I resort to voicing them as a more binary-leaning trans person.
