legit the best advice i can give you: feed your friends
any time someone is in any kind of crisis or upheaval, offer to feed them. tell them they don't have to choose what it is if they can't make decisions, just ask about allergies and preferences and tell them you're just gonna make food happen at their house.
friend having a baby? delivery gift certificate to order food to the hospital after the kid shows up.
someone's relative passes away? offer to make them dinner.
buddy gets laid off? ask if you can order them lunch.
pal stuck in a depressive episode? offer to drive them to fucking mcdonalds, if that's what they want.
people in crisis are tired and sad and angry and the last thing most of them are doing is thinking about feeding themselves. so if you have the ability or time or money, providing that is always, always a good move.
legit i do this all the time, and it is 100% always appreciated. i have taught all my friends that when something happens, we feed each other. it makes people feel extremely cared for, and I cannot recommend it enough.
Right after I reblogged this I found out a friends’ mom was hospitalized — this is such a good reminder
If you can, provide disposable plates/utensils and save them from doing dishes — when my husband was diagnosed with cancer, bulk paper products were our most appreciated gift
Don't estimate me. 😂 --- Post inspired by @waawaasmokwe
I've had my first week of "real work days". Meaning that I have actually structured my time, and sort of followed through. In so many years I have been living with "potential of what can be" - and lived in a constant state of "almost there" - because it's hard to see and acknowledge the things you don't want to - such as structure is needed, when all you crave is freedom. So many patterns intertwine, and everything connects - between my old conditioning, my wounds, my dreams, my ideas, my potential, my beliefs. It's quite frustrating sometimes, when you can zoom out and see there is a mess, but not really be able to get back in there, and see where what ends and what begins. I do have come core things I feel have found their place - like my sense of "unworthiness" - is very much in the "wound-box". But the patterns are still physiological, so I'm practicing my ass out of them. My "living in perpetual potential" is also becoming firmer and firmer placed in my dreams, and no longer so strongly present in my daily life - so I can actually have that structured week I mentioned. And take action, instead of staying in freeze mode while dreaming. D'you know what I mean? Well - I'm pretty stoked. And I created a freebie about self abandonment: Six tiny surrenders you made before noon (and what they actually cost you). You probably already know these things - but it's great to be reminded. That's the whole crux of the matter, right? Being super aware, but still fucking up, because it takes time and practice changing things. Go get it. <3 Love you.
We all share from our own perspective. With all the things that we have on our own baggage. Our learned behaviours, world views and conditioning. With an idea of "how the world is supposed to be". You can challenge it by being curious. And learn new things, and broaden your perspective. Sunday I had a difficult conversation with my husband about politics - where we disagree slightly on some things - but we stayed in the discomfort as we both shared our opinions and thoughts. The dissonance felt awful - coming from two different cultures (Greenlandic and Danish), but we listened and learned from each other, and ended it with a "thank you for sharing your perspective - it gives me something to think about" for both of us. We still love each other, and now we have learned a bit more about our perspectives and opinions. The old me would have done anything to please the guy, and shut up about my own opinions - I even believed (in ye olde times) that I didn't have any opinions, that's how small I played - but today I am capable of sharing them lovingly and powerfully at the same time. I am so proud of myself, for how far I've come. Working on myself, diving deep, exploring my inner life, and outer life - it's the work, and it's hard sometimes, but worth it. When have you lately experienced yourself stronger or more powerful than you thought possible just a few months or years ago? <3 ...join the Madame's Club to play more with identity work and create an alter ego that you can start to embody.
Inside the Feel Good Rebel Academy (my community - join for €37/mo), we are playing with creating a persona - and alter ego - that we get to step into, at the pace we have capacity for. It's so easy to just let daily life be daily life, and only dream right before we close our eyes at night, and hope the future is a bit better. But here you get to create a version of you, who has it, who's done it, who's doing it and living it - and step into her. There's a space to explore, to share and to desire and dream. Create your desire map, and learn where you have blocked yourself - and know you have a space to feel seen in your journey - with everything that comes up. Be it desires, ambitions, dreams and hopes. Or grief - for the version of you, that never got to be, that never was expressed. All of it is welcome - and encouraged. Because we grow, when we allow ourselves to be messy, and vulnerable and just frickin' do it, right. :) Come into my world, and be held. Be seen. Be witnessed and be encouraged. Link is in my profile to join.
Have you ever created an alter ego? A persona that you'd absolutely love to become. Or dream of being? Inside the Madame's Club in the Feel Good Rebel Academy, we are creating a persona, exploring who she is, and honouring what comes up, when we practice. On top of the "creating the persona" work, I have created a space - a sacred space - where you have the possibility to be witnessed in your growth, your beingness and just be seen, supported and held. It's so easy to feel like you have to brace for advice or help, when you're vulnerable - but sometimes we just need to be witnessed - to be seen in our whole messy humanness. And let me tell you, that the mess appears, once you start digging a little. I have experiences quite a lot of mess, as I borrowed my Madame Nuuna's audacity & confidence for a little bit. As a people pleaser, it's hard for me to just take up space - but i borrowed Madame Nuuna's ability to do just that, and after I had the experience of taking up space without dying or being horrifically punished, I felt such a deep sorrow for not having done that my whole life. Grief comes up, for the version of you who never got to be. For the expression that never was. For the ambitions that are buried, and much more. Of course it'll be different for all - and having a space to vent, is magical. Come join me in the creation of your own persona / Alter Ego - and know you have a safe space to explore and express yourself. The link is in my profile. <3
Over the course of July, we will be diving deeper into the "Alter Ego/Persona" work inside the Feel Good Rebel Academy. What I have begun as "Madame Nuuna" in my own experience, I will be sharing what I have learned, and am learning. I will be posting posts in the "Inner Room" - and I will be updating the course "The Madame's Club", so you can join in, whenever you are ready. Week one, starting on Monday Going into desire - what is it I really want of myself, who do I want to be, how do I want to act and think and feel. Diving into the dream of your life. This is something we can never do too much. When you then start to move toward your desired, it is inevitable emotions will surface. Grief, anger, sadness - or gratitude, joy and excitement - or all, in one confusing mix. I want you to know, that there is a space here, to explore all the emotions that come up - we don't just try to gloss over. More on this next week. Then the week after - Commitment talk How do we commit to ourselves, and what can help with commitment? Talking about reminders and support. Explore the options to help ourselves actually stand by ourselves. Week after that - Your body - becoming her It's so easy to think about how things can be. To dream a version of yourself up, that would be awesome to "play".... and then go back to the way you've always been, because that's comfortable. Well, playing with body and voice is something that can really start change things, because then your body starts to understand. The body sends way more signals to your brain, than your brain does to your body - so it's quite powerful, this. And then - the last week on this project - Permission Permission to experiment, and to evolve over time. Growth is not linear, and you don't need to know everything before moving. I have been (and still am sometimes) excellent at stopping myself before moving forward, because "I'm not there yet" or "good enough" or "perfectly there". Here is where we allow ourselves to move forward - imperfectly. And allow ourselves to know what we know, and trust that we will know more later. I am looking forward to diving more into this! :) Let me know what you think.
Imagine all your needs are met. You are safe, you earn enough money, you have food, water, shelter, connections, community - all the things... What are you spending your time on? What are you creating? What are you nurturing? What are you appreciating? Let me know your thoughts?
Thinking about values and what is important in life. Being affected by the outside world - which is most natural of course - but it also invites to take a little time to look inward (again), every once in a while. What are your values? What do you cherish? What is important to you? Do you have any principles? I am finding my biggest value at the moment is time to myself. It won't be forever, but at the stage I am in my life, I need time to be in my own energy. Having been a massive people pleaser, and having worked and created for everybody but myself - I still tend to seek outward in my own energy to "survive", and I am in the midst of letting go of that, and DUDE, it takes practice. So - while looking at the need for community, social interactions, collaborations, and more, I am still honouring my own needs - or trying to at least. :) And looking more into my values. Let me know yours if you want to share in the comments. :)
Following along online and on the news (which is not something I do too regularly, in protection of my mental health... the news that is..), make it seem that there are no nuances - and when you "get back" to your offline life, you're affected by the polarities online..... do you know this feeling? It's definitely affecting my social anxiety and mental health in a not so positive way - while at the same time, I find it very important to follow along these days - at least to some capacity. But I feel that it's difficult to see the nuances, and allow them inside myself (offline)... Like feminism... or anti-patriarchy... I feel very strongly about treating everyone equally - but I have to also acknowledge that we are raised and conditioned by less than ideal traditions and society - because the older generation was raised like that - and it has obviously seeped into this one, and somewhat to the next as well. So I can't just cancel people, because I have to connect, and I feel myself play a bit smaller, to not trigger people too much (did I mention social anxiety.... I know it's not ideal) Imperialism, colonialism and patriarchy (again)... how exploitation ruins nature and people on sooooo many levels - but having the need to survive in the system regardless.... Feeling like an imposter for caring, but still being part of the exploitative systems. oooh, dissonance... Because I have to survive, and need money for that, and need to buy cheap stuff, because I don't have a lot of money at the moment, and desiring more money, but feeling that is bad - but I know it's just a tool... urgh... more dissonance XD ...do you get what I'm trying to say. There are nuances - that are in (I dare say) all of us - and it's hard to navigate cancel culture when you do care about stuff, but also want to survive and thrive... And when we want to create community, there will inevitably be differences in opinions - and we need to learn that discomfort. What do you think?
Standing up for yourself, saying the things you want to say take practice. If at any time you’ve considered yourself a people pleaser. I’m adding or creating a space inside the Feel Good Rebel Academy- inside the Madame Nuuna segment. Creating a rehearsal space for self sovereignty, so it’s not just awesome comebacks inside our heads after the fact. I want us to practice that audacious, confident and calm manner we all dream of. There is already a segment on “voice” coming as well, so it’ll be more of that, and with live roleplaying. (It can feel daunting to go at it, because it feels weird and uncomfortable - but trust me when I say that it will feel soooo much better once you’ve tried this is a safe space). Ok - join the academy to join… but also - here on this post, or send me a message - tell me about the situations and scenarios where you feel like you freeze. What happens, and what are people saying ton up that make you freeze? I, for example, get caught off guard when someone suddenly gets angry with me, for expressing myself. Or when someone is covertly (or even overtly) racist or misogynistic. These are a little vague, but if you have specific situation, please bring em. 🙏 I’m so used to “not rock the boat” that I need practice on my audacity and my confidence ways. And I would love for you to join.
I watch women swallow their own brilliance every single day. They soften. They apologise. They make themselves agreeable so the room stays comfortable. And I understand why - I see the logic of it. But the cost is too high. You are paying for belonging with pieces of yourself, and the math never works out. I created The Madame’s Club for the woman who is ready to stop paying that price. It is a space inside the Feel Good Rebel Academy where we practise being the version of ourselves that already knows she is worthy - without the apology, without the softening, without the permission slip. The door is open. You are welcome to step through whenever you are ready. I will be inside. 🖤 👉 Link in bio to join.
From one of my all time favourite writers... "The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist of coming along and trying to put things in it." - Sir Terry Pratchett 🔥
I dyed and cut my hair today, after months of neglect. 🥰🙏 it’s spring yay!
Creating a persona - practising embodiment in a fun way. Who would you play, if you dared?
