We are a fairly newly diagnosed DID system, just getting our heads around it. 15 parts at last count, but that number keeps growing so who knows!

i‘m sorry if this sounds stupid, but can like, one alter be sick while all others arent? i‘m pretty new to the subject and this was one of the first question that came to mind.

Sounds like a cop out answer, but it depends on what sort of sick.

For us, say we have flu or something than we will all be feeling crappy, not all of us will realise why if they aren't particularly close to the front, but we'll feel it.

But... If it's more stress/mental health sick, then definitely. Like currently the host is super stressed and so has fatigue-y-ness going on, but that's unique to her because there isn't anything up with the body exactly.

This is only our experience though, other people might have had different 🤷

I keep seeing people nervously joking about april to september being nothing more than a black space and as someone who has been studying trauma for as long I have— don’t let it be. go back. look at the pictures you took on your phone, read old journal entries, if you don’t have them, use this last bit of summer to document beautiful moments, moments you were proud of, moments that comforted you, and start to build at least the beginnings of a kindhearted story about how you handled the spring and summer of 2020. that simple framework of a story is the scaffolding you’ll use for your future recovery, it is invaluable. let it be a black space if it wants to but scatter a few campfires in there for your own sake.

This is solid advice - depression makes you view life as an empty expanse and ruins your memory. Give yourself tools to argue with it - make sure you know it's a lie. If you let what the depression says be "true" it will only get its claws in deeper.

Today, I, the host, am feeling like I would quite like it if we were dead.

Today, another part is also feeling that. She, the other part, feels this way often.

She, the other part, would like me, the host, to forget that this is fallout from the trip to our hometown.

I, the host, am trying to not forget that.

See how pronouns don't all need to be we and us for us to be talking about our DID in a valid way. This irks me.

Today’s DID/OSDD discourse is that the concept of the “core” is bullshit and outdated. 

Every member of a system is an alter. Even the host. Even the person who goes by the body name. There is no one part that was the original child - because that child’s personality got separated into multiple dissociated states

The point of these disorders are that there is no one state and the sooner you remember that all alters are there for a reason the sooner you can start healing and living together more harmoniously
