sorry i left for like 10 months… basically i’m studying for my nursery qualifications and working fulltime with children.. its sooooo tiring, i haven’t drawn much outside of my sketchbook :’) i also had a hip injury for like 6 months so sitting at my desk was really hard… i’m healed now and i have my final exam in less than 2 weeks and summer break in less than a month though. i want to draw more again
We just wrapped up our first event over on the CCC discord, a banner featuring cats from a bunch of our server members! Everyone drew a cat to represent their blog and now they are all having one big gathering together. Version under the readmore with labels and tags~

i wish i’d had this motivation to create when i was younger and didn’t have adult responsibilities. like what do you mean I have to go to work, run errands and clean my home? i just want to draw warrior cats 😿
At least I can use my adult money to buy art supplies (i love my huion screen tablet <3)
i purchased the Warriors TPB graphic novel after seeing screenshots online, and I think my favourite thing is the list of art supplies at the beginning. I think every comic should do this.
How did you become so good at backgrounds? Practice, obviously, but do you have any specific tips you'd like to share?
I think the main thing that helps me tackle backgrounds is thinking in Shapes. I usually have a few references that i kind of mishmash together into the final product, so i’ll block in the different colours and areas of shadow/light with a big brush before i even start thinking about detail. personally i really struggle with values idk why so I alwaysssss have a black layer set to “colour” to check them! i do lots of studies from photos also. i think i still have a long way to go, but this is what helped me to stop being terrified of backgrounds lol <3
