My take on a Deltarune au with the tone and themes of Underfell!

Long ago, fighting broke out between HUMANS and MONSTERS. After a war which stretched on for ages, the Monsters banished humanity underground, not knowing yet, the prophecy of the DELTARUNE, which tells of a world-ending calamity, which can only be prevented by the collaboration of a HUMAN, a MONSTER and A PRINCE FROM THE DARK. with no Human to fill that role, it seems that the world is truly doomed…

infighting crops up across the Overground, many believers of the prophecy placing blame on THE KING’s war on humanity, for their doom… in turn, ASGORE begins to violently suppress the prophecy, and believers, and the very monsters he claimed he was protecting… anything to keep his control on the world above. Anything to convince himself his crusade was righteous.

It has been many years since those days, with THE KING and his guard only growing more callous…

Thus begins the story of

Well, if it isn’t Elle Holiday, the town’s saddest little angel!

After her sister disappeared, the world has felt suffocatingly small, dull, and empty. Nobody noticed the little girl slipping away, sliding behind that demure pane of glass… She smiled at everyone and did all her schoolwork, and chores, and never did a thing out of place…

but inside, was someone else entirely. Inside, was a scared young girl who wanted to know the truth, who wanted to be safe— and deeper down, an angry one, who would do anything to get those answers. That safety.

So entering Cybercity at the Library, finally encountering the Dark Worlds for the first time, a world of fantasy, where she was powerful enough to level cities…

it delighted her. She embraced her power as a Lightner whole-heartedly, treating it like an RPG where she could become powerful through violence.

She doesn’t understand why Kristal is acting so weird about it… She’s just getting stronger!

She’s just protecting herself. Isn’t that a good thing?

As an infant, Kristal was found by a well-intentioned monster, who begged Sans to take care of them. Though hesitant, he still took the child in, fully intending to dump them on the first adult human he could find, and wash his hands of the responsibility. That day never came, and he raised Kris as him and his brothers’ youngest sibling. At home, Kris often goes without their costume, but in front of anyone but their brothers, it’s a requirement for safety. Humans are considered highly dangerous, and they would be turned in the Royal Guard if discovered. Their adoptive brothers are fiercely protective of them, and you’d be wise not to instigate a fight with them.

Going back out that closet door, back into the light, after becoming so comfortable in the dark…

They bared their soul, embraced their true self, showed that truth to another, a monster, even, and… made friends—

they step out the closet door, and their mask is back on. The world is still there. The danger …but Suzy is there, too. And maybe that’s okay.

A precious, sweet young lady who’s currently the talk of Snowdin after her she and her adoptive mother- (the former Queen, whispers say)- moved into town.

Her classmates are pretty sure she’s the elusive daughter of King Asgore, but nobody’s brave enough to ask— or rather, they’re too scared to even talk to her, making Suzy feel rather unwelcome. Everyone except… well… that Skeleton kid who keeps picking on her… What’s Kristal’s deal, anyway??

She’d find out, after a few days of adventuring with the rough and rowdy teen, that they have more in common than they think, and form a close bond.

What a happy bunch! In an otherwise grim world, the Holiday family were a beacon of hope for their community in Snowdin, always trying to maintain high spirits, despite the harsh realities around them.

Carol Holiday, the mayor, who did her best to keep the town organized and safe; Rudy, a doctor at the local clinic who always handled patients with kindness and humor; Dess, an older teen with a fierce sense of justice, always willing to defend the younger children; and of course, Noelle, the little angel.

Everything changed after Dess “went missing”…

… “went missing”…. It’s certainly one way to put it. One day, she’s just going out for a walk, and the next, she’s gone without a trace. They searched, and searched, and could find nothing… and once a jar of dust showed up on their porch, search parties were called off, and it was ruled a murder. Nothing was the same after that.

Rudy grew sick, while Carol turned cold, and Noelle… poor, poor Elle was left to stew in the grief all alone. Their parents wouldn’t tell her what happened, so she began to convince herself Dess just “left.” Ran away from home, and lives somewhere else, now. (And… and she’ll come back for her someday, right? She’ll come back, and they’ll leave this stupid town behind forever…) Maybe it’s unrealistic, but she won’t let it go. She can’t.

But the truth is worse than she could imagine… deep in the earth, in the heart of the old storm bunker, is a knife stabbed through a masonjar, filled to it’s brim with dust and blood. but if you close your eyes and move closer, and closer, and tilt your head, you might be able to see her. The Lost Girl, now a massive, spike-covered doe with a bat made of black glass.

For as long as Seilar can remember, he has known the Prophecy of Deltarune, and knew that he would be a part of it— one of the universe’s hero’s, destined to save the worlds. He has long awaited to arrival of his future friends, but when he finally gained form and name, there was something *terribly* wrong in the world of light. HUMANKIND had been banished beneath the earth, into a world so dark, even he could hardly reach it— and MONSTERKIND alone inhabiting the world above.

Seilar despaired, believing that, without a human to serve as the third Delta Warrior, they would all be doomed to THE ROARING. Now, he mourns their seemingly inevitable fate.
