frenemies, always an extreme – either extremely loving or extremely cruel to one another, Dulce considered Greer to be her biggest asset and biggest flaw. You just couldn’t ignore Greer, no matter what you did and Dulce had a difficult time accepting the other woman’s effortless fame. It was like fire and ice with them and she’d always been the fire more likely to burn than to attract others. Dulce cared for Greer, despite her own annoyance about Greer’s popularity, but not enough to not despise her at the end of the day.

&. SHORT BIOGRAPHY.

Born to two rather famous Hollywood individuals, Dulce was always considered to make it big in this world. Adored at first but neglected over the years as her parents began working all day, Dulce chose to take matters into her own hands and find the attention she’s desiring somewhere else. With a few escapades in her teenage years, Dulce is mostly known for being ambitious and fun-loving, dominating and manipulative. She’s silk hiding steel, a girl which had been promised the world who ended up having to fight for everything herself.

After realizing her possibilities Dulce took a step back from partying and studied for her finals. She managed to score an excellent GPA and began using her spare time for extracurricular activities like her former school’s acting club or being part of the student council. With a scholarship in the bag Dulce ended up at Ogden College. Her new playground so to speak, where she can let loose again.

Monty checked his phone for at least the fifth time in the last thirty minutes, glowing screen held too close to his face as he squinted at the mysterious texts from an unknown number. G… Being on the receiving end of direct communication from whoever this was made him feel a little guilty for being so blasé about the unmarked letters people had gotten. This shit sucked. Was there a time limit? Was someone watching him all night? Would anyone ever even know if he didn’t do the dare? He looked around, trying his best not to frown as he scanned the crowd, but no one stood out. Everyone was doing their own thing, partying and having fun, as was expected. And, maybe for a few seconds too long, his eyes got caught on Dulce in her cut-out swimsuit, staring from across the pool. Sue him.

What was another crushing blow to his ego anyway?

Tucking his phone away, Monty turned to the nearby drink table and downed a shot before filling up two more glasses with tequila. Holding one in either hand, he made his way around the perimeter of the pool, working his way to Dulce who he greeted with a lax smile, sidling up beside her. “Hey,” he started with a little lift of his head, chin jerking in the equivalent of asking someone, ‘Sup? “… Come here often?”

She should’ve probably stayed home. Greer’s last birthday was a success and everybody had such a great time, but without her here the entire party just felt.. wrong, for lack of a better word. Hollow. Apparently there was more to this party than expected. With Nate going commando and everybody playing some sort of cruel game on themselves, all bets were off, apparently. So instead of leaving, Dulce leaned into the thought of staying, enjoying the show with a drink. Swaying to the music, she stopped thinking about the actual reason they were here and simply saw today as yet another pool party. Pool parties had left a bitter taste in her mouth in the past, so she wondered if today would be any different.

Judging by the one approaching today, it might just get funnier for sure. “Monty, no way,” Dulce chuckled, taking one of the Tequilas shots from him, “No lime? We really need to work on that, mh?” One eyebrow raised in surprise, “let me guess: you want to get me drunk and ask me out? Where’s the confidence? You’re so funny” She laughed now, “I’m sorry, it’s just -- are you high?”

JESSE:

Though time had passed and Jesse’s stunt at casino night had disappeared into the recesses of the student body’s collective mind, Donovan’s words remained like poison. They had grown roots somewhere deep inside and borne fruits of paranoia. 

Where would you be?

What would you have?

Would anyone be left?

He’d begun to look at his friends and peers through that gnarled lens, a resounding nothing and no one echoing through his mind in answer. He was distracted, fingers clasped around his current drink of choice as the party raged on around him. This had once been the only place he felt at home, the place where he’d lavish in attention, where he’d loosen the reins of a lifetime of being the disappointment. But even that, it seemed, had been ruined for him.

He watched Dulce stand, the movement capturing his attention. His brows pinched in confusion at her confessions, watching her eyes dance around the crowd as she named the people she’d slept with. Jesse couldn’t help a quick glance around himself, wondering if he’d missed some party cue and he was going to have to recall everyone he’d ever slept with. Oof. 

But it was in the way Dulce’s face fell as she spoke to the curly haired kid Jesse was now realizing was Mitch. Greer’s younger brother. That creeping paranoia was settling in once more as he narrowed his eyes on the two of them. Dulce had told him she loved him, but her eyes were saying something different. 

That creeping paranoia was back again as she fled and he followed unabashedly. “You know, it’s funny,” he said from behind her, hoping his voice would be enough to make her slow. “When you told me about Greer’s brother, you made it sound like nothing.” His long legs carried him past her before he stopped and turned, facing off with his arms crossed. Would anyone be left? He jerked his chin in the direction of the circle. “Didn’t really look like nothing.”

She didn’t dare to look back, afraid the situation would escalate in any way. Besides, Dulce didn’t really want to interact with anyone right now. Having done that, being forced to speak the truth, wasn’t something she was particularly proud of. Instead today narrowly escaped being labelled as traumatic. She wasn’t in denial about the truth, but in everybody else being shoved into that mess, of everybody knowing the truth. Maybe, after all, it was for the better. 

Expecting him to be the first to approach her, Dulce stopped at the end of the room, letting Jesse take up the space in front of her. Going now would solve nothing and she really didn’t have it in her to run anyway. She huffed in surprise and confusion. Now, while she hadn’t counted on it, Dulce couldn’t help but feel herself tear up. Anger took over, just for a moment, before it subsided. “I told you I loved you in your darkest hour, I stood by you when not many did. And you are jealous about me not hating Mitch when I’m still the only one uttering those three words? Like a fucking fool.” She was whispering for the most part, not wanting to let everybody know what was going on. “I could give you my heart and it would still not be enough, Jess.”

PARISA:

A smile was on Parisa’s face as her arms were around the shoulders of a member of the soccer team as they swayed to the melody of a Latin dance pop song. It felt… oddly nice to be enjoying herself, in spite of her accidental inebriation. As the song ended, a familiar voice could be heard instead as Parisa parted ways with her dance partner. What was Dulce getting up to? “No, no, bad idea,” she mouthed to her friend, unsure if the sorority president could even see Parisa warning her. Was she drunk?

Jesse was a given, no shocker there .Dulce and Diego? That was news to Parisa, but not too surprising - both of them were good looking and charming. The real surprise was when she said Nate Shaw’s name, Parisa’s brown eyes drifting to the swimmer. Didn’t Dulce dislike him? Then again, Parisa also had complicated feelings despite having also slept with Nate, so she couldn’t judge that one. Her head began shaking vigorously when Dulce looked in Mitch’s direction, hoping that she decided against naming him. But she didn’t, and gave quite a heartfelt speech that made Parisa sniffle just a little bit. Perhaps she was drunk after all, hearing Dulce confess her feelings for Mitch publicly. Following Dulce out of the circle, Parisa gently grabbed her friend’s arm as she caught up to her. 

“That was… something. Very brave of you. You don’t need to tell me why you did it but, are you okay?”

She couldn’t really think straight at this point. Her heart kept racing and Dulce felt like her head was exploding from all the tension and anxiety coming with naming the four of them. It didn’t take much to guess that she wasn’t exactly doing this for her own sake or even getting something out of it except exposure. Quite the opposite. It wasn’t something she’d wanted for herself nor the men in question. They deserved to be spared -G antics, every single one of them, but she couldn’t force herself to lie, either, not knowing what could happen if she did.

Dulce looked at Parisa, her eyes revealing nothing much. Rather than allowing herself to feel the pain she’d just felt, Dulce relied in her acting skills to fake a smile and continue as is. “You like that? Guess after our little talk with Link I couldn’t just hide any longer. Some sick thought of having them know what’s going on, so maybe they’d fight for me,” she lied, looking down now. “Doesn’t really matter. Are you... feeling any different about me now? Just be honest, it’s fine, I’m a big girl.”

MITCH:

Guess I don’t hate you after all, Mitch, not even close.

           There’s something ghostly pale in the way he observes her, lips quick to fall slightly agape. He almost feels unmovable, as if a harsh wind would struggle to knock him from his feet. But he notes the way in which his hesitation creeps upwards. It’s cold, uncomfortable. A sudden awareness of his vulnerability the longer he remains. His eyes shift to those who encircle him and he notes the way in which their gaze lingers; a flock of eyes all too quick to perceive him. And God forbid Mitch ever remained under this lens - dissected by his peers, bones picked apart like a volt of vultures to a carcass.           He takes it as a sign to leave, head down, footsteps interlacing between the steady and confused chatter of his peers. Isn’t that Mitch? Yeah, Greer’s brother. Awkward. Their questions are inaudible as he looks upwards now, line of sight fixating on the dark hair of Dulce Salvador. It’s a thoughtless action when he grabs her. Hand coiling around her upper arm as he encourages her to follow him. Mitch thinks to say something, anything, but no words can surface as of yet; his tongue digging into the corner of his mouth. When they reach a quieter room to the far corner, only then does he release his hold.           “You shouldn’t have done that,” he speaks finally, a flare to his nostrils. Its unclear whether the response is a result of annoyance or sheer exasperation. “Nate, Jesse, Diego - fine.” Not entirely. Though it felt insignificant as of now. “But us? Sal, my sister could have a field trip with this. Fuck knows what she’d do to you.”

She could hear the whispers behind her back, his name being uttered and people instantly pointing fingers in a literal sense. Of course her dare was a loaded one, one that was straight to the point ending with a bang. Whatever game -G played had no rules, no real strategy but destruction, something Dulce herself was familiar with, but not like this. She placed her now empty glass onto the table before feeling his arm around her own. Dulce followed him after some mild resistance, unsure about what to do at the moment. Once they reached another room, the dressing room of all places, Dulce breathed in a bit slower, feeling relief to not be the center of attention for once. For once having all this attention felt more like a curse than a blessing, so being here now gave her some much needed peace. 

She couldn’t really speak. Seeing Mitch in front of her, him not uttering one word about what she’d said but rather mentioning what could happen to her afterward, worrying. Greer didn’t nearly have as much power over her at the moment. Dulce felt like she was already destroying herself as is, no Greer needed. Her eyelids fluttered, her gaze on him as Dulce tried to understand where all of this was coming from now. After their last meeting at casino night and their fight at night at the power outage Dulce expected him to not care at all let alone go after her. Despite feeling like crying Dulce’s face remained worried, almost stoic as her emotions still remained all over the place. “I wanted to control my own narrative and...” her breath caught inside of her throat, “you’re a part of that,” her words were merely a whisper at this point. She sounded exhausted, unsure how to feel, what to really say. “You’re not nothing,” she looked at him with tears in her eyes, though Dulce managed to control herself. One hand reached for his, barely touching his fingertips. Hers were trembling in the process and she could feel the tension inside of her getting worse. There wasn’t anything she could say more. Instead, her eyes wandered back to look at him now, her own expression caught between sadness and trying to keep it together. “I’m sorry. For everything.”

DIEGO:

He was in the back of the crowd with a beer clutched in his hand as Dulce began her… speech. It wasn’t that he really minded people knowing what had happened between the two of them. He had figured that most people who had seen them together had their own suspicions that were probably much more involved or sinister than what had actually happened. However, he had sort of gotten the feeling Dulce might have minded more than him. Despite what people might think about her, she turned out to be a very discrete person. So, he was surprised to hear not only his name, but certain others mentioned as well. But that wasn’t really his business. A few people glancing back towards him, he gave a forced smile and small nod, before wandering off towards the edges catching up with Dulce as she made her way away from the group. “Hey,” Diego greeted, a raised eyebrow, “that was certainly an interesting impromptu speech…” He glanced around before moving closer his voice a little lower as he spoke, “are you doing okay?”

She couldn’t be bothered to check up on the people she’d named right now. That thought would have caught up to her later, when she wasn’t feeling like screaming, like her head and heart exploded. These stupid texts, the fact that she’d been forced to go there instead of keeping everything a secret. Seeing Diego approach her, Dulce inhaled steadily, trying to calm her nerves. He didn’t deserve to be name-dropped, none of them did and yet she didn’t have a choice in that matter. Though, luckily she didn’t expect him to be mad or even remorseful. “I’m sorry, I don’t know what came over me. Guess I just had to get that truth off my chest. Are you... mad?” she asked, half expecting him to just laugh at the question or give her the reassurance she so desperately needed. “Thank you for asking, Diego. I’m fine. Peachy.” Lowering her gaze, Dulce sighed and just shook her head, not saying anything else. Of course she was lying.

    in this situation, what would you do ? not pull out your phone to film this ? if you answer no, then you’d be a much better person than link was — who had slowly raised his phone up the moment he realized where this little speech was going. not really for blackmail purpose, since she was basically announcing it to everyone, but for his own entertainment purposes. perhaps it would go viral on twitter ? he lets out a laugh as the list seems to get worse and worse, totally entertained by the whole thing. and then came mitch’s name, which… obviously didn’t come as a surprise to link, but they were half expecting her not to say his name. 

    when she began to walk away, she ends up near him to where she left her drink, and link immediately starts up the conversation. “ well that was beautiful. it was all in the delivery, really — great job. ” they comment as their grin grows wider. “ are you gonna start announcing it over the PA every time you get with someone ? ”

She wasn’t really looking back to the other guests and rather focused on her drink, pouring it all down in one swift motion, trying to get herself drunk as soon as possible. Seeing Link from her peripheral vision, Dulce just sighed in disbelief. Of course he’d get a closeup of her now, all exposed and drained. “You think this is some sort of joke, Link?” she shoved him then, not even hard enough to really get them to move. “Believe me if you fall I’ll be the first one to laugh and point fingers, alright? Better yet, I will be your downfall.” 

Their back and forth as frenemies had reached a breaking point and Dulce wasn’t in the mood for games at the moment. “Don’t you have somebody else to annoy today? I’m not in the mood, as you can see.”

AVERY:

Say what you will about Avery but she wasn’t a reckless driver. Her eyes remained largely on the open road ahead, only taking scarce glances in Dulce’s direction when the other girl spoke to her. “You’re not gonna become irreversibly addicted from a hit off a blunt, Dulce,” Avery reasoned with a soft chuckle. It always stunned her when she was faced with hesitance to drugs. She often forgot it wasn’t the norm to some people. Weed, of all things. It should hardly classified as drug in her opinion. “You don’t have to do if you don’t want to,” Avery made sure to say, not wanting Dulce to think that just because the joint was between her fingers that she had to light it and take a hit or else Avery would shove her out of the car. Pressuring people wasn’t her thing. “It’s just the only thing I have in the car right now, but I can stop by a gas station and we can pick up a bottle of something if that’s more your speed.” The last thing she wanted Dulce to do was have a crisis over whether or not she should try drugs. This was about having a good time. Not a mental breakdown.

“I’m not really sure, alright?” Dulce rolled her eyes before looking back and the joint. It wasn’t like she absolutely loathed the idea of going for it, but she knew better than trying something as unpredictable. Among friends, perhaps, but not with Avery around. Of course she knew what she was doing, but Dulce feared this wouldn’t end well, so she hid the weed in its previous place. “I just want to have a good time. You do know how to have a good time, don’t you? I guess the definition of it just varies for us, doesn’t it?” Dulce smirked at Avery, which turned into a short giggle. “Fine, get me to the nearest gas station I’ll buy us something nice,” and so they did. Arriving there Dulce got out of the car and chose a good pre-mixed cocktail in a bottle, which was more expensive than if you’d mix it on your own. Dulce couldn’t be bothered, so she grabbed two bottles of pre-mixed Motjito, two bags of Takis and a sixpack of beer. “Are you sure you want to go there? We might have to spend the night on top of that hill. I won’t let you drive if you drink alcohol, Avery.”

NIKKI:

looking around the cafe, nikki realized that there was only one person she knew well enough to sit with. not one to intrude, however, she resigned to sitting alone. fortunately for her, dulce caught her gaze as she walked by. “hey. what’s up?” she sat across from the other woman without protest, furrowing her brows slightly as she prepared to hear what dulce could want to talk to her about. nikki wouldn’t say they were friends, but she wouldn’t say they weren’t, either. they were friendly enough, with little in common. “oh, yeah, sure,” she shrugged. “don’t know what i would hear before you, but i’ll keep you updated… if you do the same. you know, i scratch your back and you scratch mine, and all that shit. but i am curious, what do you have to be worried about?”

“Nothing much, I can’t really say the last few days have been particularly exciting.” No, they’d been exhausting and drama-filled, both of which Dulce could’ve lived without, but sadly they were forced into this situation, every single one of them, with G, or Greer or whoever, ruling over this school with an iron fist. Any ally would be a great method to get some info and to keep each other safe. “You’d be surprised. If this is actually Greer, then I’m sure she’d want me to not know much and I’m left out of things. Lovely,” Dulce joked, rolling her eyes in the process. She nodded at Nikki’s request, raising her coffee as a mean of toasting. “To new allies? Who don’t ask questions like that,” she scolded the other, clicking her tongue in disapproval, “that’s not what this is about. Asking questions, alright? We all got our secrets.”

open starter location: Greer’s pool party time: a bit later into the party 

The party had gone from mediocre to exciting, from calm to chaotic. She was caught in the middle of it all, seeing as more and more of her friends, acquaintances, enemies and lovers alike forced themselves to spice up the party. It was her turn then, her phone ringing, immediately making her heart race in anticipation and, even if she didn’t want to admit it, fear. Halloween wasn’t for another week, but Dulce knew today would be the real terror. Her eyes widened in shock, Dulce’s gaze slowly lowered itself away from the phone. Here goes nothing. What if G didn’t like her answer? What if she lied on purpose and didn’t name them all? Would G retaliate in some way? 

“Listen,” she stood up, leaving her phone behind. “We’re all caught up in some drama today, so I should include myself in there, too, shouldn’t I? Well, I wanted to tell you all that I slept with four people on this party,” she stood in the midst of them all, looking for all the familiar faces. “Of course I fucked Jesse. On-and-off boyfriend, that’s a no-brainer, you know how much I care about you. I fucked Diego on a beautiful one time date a while back, which resulted in nothing but good, solid sex. Thanks for that.” The other two were much more complicated, much more concerning. She took a deep breath before continuing. “I might’ve gotten drunk at a pool party similar to this one and fucked Nate Shaw of all people,” she didn’t dare to look around and for a moment she thought she’d faint from the stress, which raged inside of her, which she’d managed to hide. Yet she couldn’t hide the wave of guilt and sorrow as she looked towards Mitch. She contemplated not naming him, but decided being truthful would possibly hurt the least, especially to finally acknowledge it in front of everybody else. “And the person who I pretend to hate the most, was the person who I fucked last. Guess I don’t hate you after all, Mitch, not even close. Alright, that’s it,” Dulce walked out of the circle and grabbed her drink, emptying it in one go.

     although link never found himself partaking in any holiday or festive event that the college had, halloween was the exception. how could anyone not love halloween ? he figured he’d decide what his costume would be for whatever party he attended that night last minute, but a few contenders were in mind — some ideas floating around, especially when his eyes landed on a bride’s veil. his attention was diverted when he made eye contact with dulce from a mirror she was in front of, probably here with the same idea as him. he eyes her dress up and down, a small grin on his lips as he approached her when she made conversation. “ it doesn’t look like you’re going for too spooky, are you ? not sure that kind of dress would scare me, per se. ” he teases, leaning back against the wall, his eyes on hers through the mirror in front of them. they begin to scoff at her comment, their brows furrow together. “ fuck what up ? she fuckin’ hates me. besides, i don’t think anyone is too happy to be walked in on and interrupted during that. ”

She had yet to decide on suitable jewelry for the event. Probably just a ring, a necklace, earrings and a little something for her lingerie underneath. There were plenty of options to choose from, most of which Dulce considered already, so it would be another hour until she could really leave the store, having decided on her entire outfit for Halloween. Inspecting herself, Dulce brushed her hand over the dress, removing and creases. “Mh, they didn’t carry any Link costumes, guess I’ll have to live with disappointing you,” she frowned, but grinned quickly afterward. “Besides, with stage blood all over my body, my fangs and contacts I’ll at least look somewhat threatening.” Besides, people dressed up to ward off ghosts and demons -- and Dulce had grown quite fond of them. Rolling her eyes, Dulce turned around to face them, “You know, if you can’t satisfy her or something, I’m pretty sure that’d count as fucking it up.” She raised one eyebrow, “I’m still surprised she’s wasting her time on you, Link. Is there something to gain from her except sex?”

JESSE:

Jesse’s tie hung loose around his neck, his suit jacket tossed over a shoulder, holding it in place by a single finger. His shirt was wrinkled from spending the night before slumped in a chair, chasing restless sleep that had only seemed to make him feel worse. He hadn’t looked in a mirror yet today, but he could imagine he looked quite the sight: a blooming bruise on his cheekbone and jaw, dried blood staining his clothes— his and… not his. But at this point, he’d spent more time this year covered in bruises than not, so he had to imagine no one was even looking at him. 

The quad was quiet, the early morning sun outlining the buildings in gold and Jesse didn’t see any of it. He was spent, wrung out and hollow, hands shoved in his pockets. All he really wanted was to collapse in his bed and sleep for the next year. Maybe by then, he’d have it together. Maybe by then, he’d have his shit figured out.

It was the sound of footsteps ahead of him that had him blinking back up, shielding his eyes from the rising sun to see Dulce making her way across the quad. He considered pretending he hadn’t seen her, their tangled web a mess he hadn’t even begun to unravel, but his lonely heart reached out before his brain had given the okay to do so. “You’re up early,” he called out to her, his voice soft enough that she might not hear him at all.

After the last two days of chaos and bad decisions Dulce had vowed to just steer clear of some people, at least for the sake of her own studies. Apart from having to work things out with Nat, which, considering what happened, wouldn’t remain for long, Dulce had to work on two scenes and a few auditions for this season. Competition was tough this year and she hadn’t given it her all as her mind remained too distracted with the whole Greer thing. Alas, Showbusiness didn’t wait and Dulce had no interest in playing second fiddle to some nobody.

Studying a few lines on the quad, she tried to remember all lines after a while, rehearsing them over and over again before she saw somebody walking over the quad and Jesse calling out to her, immediately causing her to move. They’d been much too quiet ever since her confession, their heart to heart -- and it bothered her more than it should. Of course he should have his freedom, but even while they fought they’d remained somewhat close.

“Jess, what happened?” she asked immediately. Her mind went into various directions, from Nate, to Mitch, to him starting a fight with his dad after yesterday’s show. “What happened?” she asked again, this time with a little less intensity, with herself dreading the answer. “Look, we need to talk. If this is about Nate, then. You shouldn’t have, alright? He’s an ass and I fucked up, Jess.”

NATE:

“What is there to talk about, Dulce?” Nate retorted, his fingers clenched around the drink in his hand, eyes flashing with a hint of a warning as she continued pushing, continued reiterating herself in a manner that he considered completely unnecessary. “Your point is understood,” he said, the words nearly a spit. “I’m not trying to make this easier or harder for you. You think me being at that party, looking for someone - anyone - had anything to do with you?” he continued. The words weren’t teasing, sarcastic, willing to play her game anymore. His voice had turned sharp, Nate pushing himself up from the wall, looking down at Dulce. “We fucked. All it is and was is a couple orgasms, and I think we can both agree - you’ve made it plenty clear at least - that we’re not interested in anything beyond that. I truly couldn’t give a fuck about whatever relationship you and Jesse have. So are we done here?”

She groaned in annoyance. Things could never be easy with Nate and that’s exactly why she still didn’t like him, no matter if they had discovered a bunch of hidden similarities or not. It wasn’t like she’d enjoy his company more after what had happened, but it paved the way to a better understanding of one another -- in theory at least. “I never said that, all I want is for you to just shut up and I’m literally thanking you for not doing exactly what I thought you’d do: use our one night stand as a form of blackmail, because you don’t like Jesse and I do. Fuck,” she huffed, trying to get rid of some steam. Her thoughts immediately jumped to Mitch then. If he found out, if he found out she fucked a friend of his... “I won’t use what happened against you, what you felt yesterday. We were both... lonely and desperate. It is what it is, just--” she pressed her lips into a thin line, “glad we had that talk, mate.”
