goodbye Letter
I dont like lionfish
On the first day of my first video class, less than a third of the class were girls. I was later told that was an incredible number for the school.Â
I attended summer sessions, and stood as director, DoP, and primary editor. On one sleepless night of editing, my instructor pulled me aside to tell me the sad truth about the industry I hope to work in, that if I want to get anywhere, I’ll have to work twice as hard as any man, only to receive half the recognition.
This photo is from my first documentary, which I recently received recognition for from the RA international film festival. It can be hard to get started on projects sometimes, but this is a reminder for all creative souls to get out there, and to get working.
A list of all things things I never said to you
sorry the first half is so blurry, I have no idea why it’s like that.
this is a poem I wrote while coping after separating myself from an emotionally abusive relationship. I won’t go into much detail, but for background information purposes, I was dating this person for seven months, five of which I lived with them.
thanks for reading.
A Metaphorical Love Story
Her Kind of Happy
As stated above, I’m Adelle. I love art and I specifically love comics, so I decided to start working on a few of my own. I don’t know where this will go, but I might as well try, right?
It took me a while to figure out what to write about, I spent ages searching online for inspiration, but it didn’t hit until I started searching in my own life, where I realized that I had never seen comics about being queer and femme, which is what I am. To be honest, I barely see any queer women in the media, but when I do, they tend to be far more masculine presenting, which is great representation for those who are queer and masculine! But it leaves those of us who are more feminine feeling a bizarre pressure to present differently. And chances are only three or four people will ever see this, one of those being my English teacher (hi!), but spreading queer femme female rep to even one person makes this whole thing worth it.
a poem to my past self
I started dating a girl and I think it was a mistake.
I don’t mean my mistake, I mean a mistake on the universe’s part. I don’t think I was ever meant to be with someone as wonderful or as sweet as her. Maybe me thinking this way is a result of an awful, past relationship, but I don’t think it is. I am genuinely dumbfounded as to how I could ever be with someone as great as her.
Who’s excited for “Becoming”???Â
\🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️
This quote reminds me of two distinct aspects of my own life and both have to do with self deprecation. From now on I refuse to negatively compare myself to others, or to stand silently as others drag themselves down in an attempt to compliment me.Â
I am beautiful and you are too, let’s be beautiful together.
