haven's walls stretched far, but it did NOT mean that everyone within was unknown. he wasn't surprised that the inquisition had garnered enough traction to get other cities involved such as kirkwall, seeing as though the power of the inquisition was steadily growing, rivaling those of most cities and settlements.

that being said, it still surprised fenris that he would KNOW someone so close to his inner circle. sure, it wasn't anders or merrill, not even hawke ; yet, it was someone whom they had certainly encountered before. he NEVER forgot a face, especially when it came to those who have crossed him before.

the men... didn't LOOK like templars, but they could very much well be hired mercenaries by the mage hunters. either way, he felt like he DESERVED answers. or, rather, NEEDED them.

she couldn't have escaped from the circle, as she stated she hardly could control her powers... yet, she had managed to evade being sent off as a child the moment her abilities manifested. something wasn't RIGHT and he felt it.

kirkwall had its fair share of mercenaries and bounty hunters, both of which fenris was plenty accustomed with. being left behind hawke's DEEP ROADS expedition, he needed some way to make a living ; what else to do, than to do something he was already used to ? being someone's BODYGUARD ?

however, now he's beginning to REGRET accepting the contract.

the stench of burnt HAIR and FLESH was unavoidable as he loomed over the disfigured corpses, but that did not cause his gaze to falter from the woman. he feels deceived, BETRAYED , even.

what kind of mage is this one ? strong-willed, unwavering, like hawke ? or weak, like anders ?

it was a jab, a twist, then PULL after the assassin's blade sank into his flesh. his poor beating heart continued to beat loudly in his ears, the adrenaline in his veins now oozing out of his wounds as quickly as the fight had begun. he had to force himself to stand -- to keep standing, don't fall, don't fall -- but when he looked at his palms, RED, RED with blood ...

he's collapsing. and he can't help but grimace as he tried to break his own fall.

thump, thump, thump -- the sound of his heart grew over the fight, which he had now become a simple audience of. she's saying something, yet he's unsure, though has enough sense to MIMIC her as he kept low.

with the magical EXPLOSION, the fight was over.

collapsing from his knees with his spine on rocks, the continuing thump thump thump in his ears; he's seeing the other's mouth move yet the words are faint. his eyes are fighting to close, like exhaustion during night watch, but he's fighting against it.

he was no stranger when it came to flirting with DEATH .
