it just makes me sad that bioware created a character who has suffered every kind of abuse and dehumanisation, has seen countless betrayals including betrayals from his own family, and struggles to trust people, especially mages, because of the abuse of power and abuse period he has suffered, and a huge portion of players simplify him as a hateful, ice cold bitch who doesn't deserve to hear a kind word from the people he's come to call his friends.

also makes me sad how a lot of other characters in game are dismissive of fenris's justified distrust as if he isn't in sore need of understanding and support.

one time I wrote an entire fic in which my sunshine girl merrill used blood magic to transport herself around thedas snatching the elven companions from all 3 games away to protect them and all of them begrudgingly teamed up to rescue the hof, hawke and inquisitor

fenris: hawke is a terrible person. they are an unapologetic arsonist, a thief, a murderer, and a mage whose middle name is impulsive. they stress me out so fucking much. the fact that they can kill thirty men in thirty seconds and then crack wise about it whilst absolutely covered in their blood is sociopathic. if you see this individual in a dark alley run for your life.
