How to apply makeup. Haha.
I didn’t know how to title this. Is it obvious? Don’t answer that, it’s a rhetorical question. Ok, so I recently was asked a few great questions by a friend for the purpose of this blog. Which I gotta say was awesome because sometimes I get stuck on what to write about. Just check out my last post about adult glow worms.
So she asked what the best way to apply makeup is, like what is the best order to go in.
I think every person is different, but I’m going to list my steps in order of how I apply makeup on a client.
1: Cleanse the skin with a skin brightening water.
2: Apply moisturizer, also under eye moisturizer if needed. Let that settle in for five minutes and gossip about life.
3: Foundation, applied with a damp beauty blender.
4: Concealer, under eye and where ever else needed (discoloration or blemishes)
5: Cream Bronzers, blushes, and highlight. I like to apply all the creams first before setting it all with powder.
6: Set with powder lol (typically translucent)
7: Apply lip moisturizer (if I can remember I do this with step 2 but I honestly forget until after the face is set)
8: I then do the eyes, laying down an all over vanilla base first and then build from there. If I’m doing a wing I apply lashes before hand and any other eyeliner.
9: While the lashes are settling in I work on the brows.
10: Once the brows are set I finish off the eyes with mascara.
11: Then, I apply any powder Bronzers, blushes, or highlights while the mascara is drying.
12: Last is lips.
13: Finally I do a complete once over inspection and see if I want to alter anything or fix anything that may have gone awry. If I’ve lined the eyes I typically do another layer just for impact.
14: Take a picture (if I can remember)
So, that’s how I do it. Some people like to do the eyes first, and I have done this before but only if it’s a really dark smokey eye. But, typically I follow these steps, even on myself. That is….when I actually put on makeup ha.
