"Really!?" The loon-duck clapped his hands, taken by a growing excitement. "I can't believe you never went to a Slumber Party before! I used to have these all the time in Granny's house until... until..." A pinch of sadness overtook his voice. "Until my cousins all grew out of it, I guess..."
But that didn't matter now, he had a new friend and he was sure they would have a wonderful time together! How many times did he dream about having a friend to share his interests with while isolated in the Sublab of the Future? Countless!
Fethry took Fenton by the hand, practically dragging him around, and leaving his custodian duties behind - that could wait, the dust on the floor wasn't going anywhere.
With his tail wagging in anticipation, Fethry excitedly introduced his coworker o the 'backstage' of the ultra technological laboratory; boxes and containers of all kinds, bottles of all colors and sizes full of potentially dangerous chemicals and enough scrap metal to make a moderately-sized junkyard blush.
Amidst the impressive collection, behind the cleaning supplies there lied a door; Cleary it was meant to be yet another storage room, but it was poorly converted into a studio apartment of some kind.
"Welcome to my place: The Dream Room II! I wasn't expecting anyone today… Actually, I wasn't expecting anyone to come here at all, ever. So, it may be just a itty-bitty messy…"
Fethry opened the door, cheerfully inviting Fenton inside. The place was cluttered, barely fitting the bed, wardrobe and side table. A door inside led to a tiny bathroom, the sink being somewhere in between this door and the 'kitchen area', that was basically a microwave oven and a mini-fridge docked under the table - a pile of dirty plates accumulating over.
The main focus of the room was the big TV fixed on the wall, Fethry sat on the bed and slid to the side to give Fenton enough place to hop in. The floor in front of the TV had a little gap covered in boxes with all kinds of goods the gangly loon-duck had managed to collect from his previous hyperfixations; An old Waddle laptop, shells, a retro videogame, a flute, a glass bong, art supplies and horror movies DVDs were just the tip of the iceberg. On the floor, some folded clothes were waiting to be placed inside the wardrobe.
A wonky bookshelf displayed a disordered collection of books, comics and mangas of all genres, together with notebooks from the many courses Fethry tried to attend and a bunch of action figures (Darkwing Duck merch included, of course).
Under that was a billboard broadly covered in photos, the majority of them being photos of a young Fethry having fun with his cousins. He had a single photo of his family, his mother, brother and himself, Fethry's father seemingly cut out of the picture. The newer photos were from the lab; Gyro, Fenton, Manny, most of them unaware a photo was being taken. Also Mitzi, Fethry had dozens of pictures of the giant krill and surprisingly he got a knack to make the giant sea creature look like a cute little critter, incapable of ever doing any harm.
“So? What do you want to do first?” Fethry asked, barely containing his enthusiasm. He pulled a crumpled pizza box from the mini-fridge, offering it to Fenton “Don’t worry, this is from yesterday!” he said in a reassuring tone; the pizza was practically untouched, Fethry seemingly had only eaten a single slice.
