i don’t have many mutuals but i know there are some kind ppl out there. so here goes…
last month, i had pelvic pain, something i’ve never experienced before. my doctor & i have discussed previously about my menstrual pain, and the likelihood of iud (mirena) insertion. so when this pelvic pain started, i first thought it was just normal menstrual pain. but then it went on for 2 days, and my period was not due for another 2 weeks. i went to a clinic, and they suspected it could be an ovarian cyst rupture.
as advised, i went to the emergency department. it was… underwhelming. their ultrasound machine was quite ancient, and it couldn’t detect my left ovary. they discharged me after giving me some painkillers. the pain stayed for a few days.
and then the bill came. $2500++ 🥲
i have health insurance, but they said they are not covering this since i was an outpatient. i checked in at the emergence around 4pm, and was discharged at 12am the next day. so hospital is saying i’m an inpatient, bcs technically it was an overnight stay.
i’m still disputing everything with my health insurance, but i have paid an upfront payment of $600, since that’s what the hospital asked for before they could offer me their service.
and yesterday, my cat was hospitalised for a part day stay. she had some tiny stones in her bladder & mild bacterial infection. and her bill is $870. that covered ultrasound, xray & urine test.
i’m an expat living in australia working full-time. every paycheck, i’ll send money back to my family since my mom has retired & my brother is not working to take care of my father who had a stroke attack in august. with my unpredictable pelvic pain, menstrual cramps & migraine, i have used all my personal leaves, and have to take unpaid personal leaves when i could not come in to work. having clinical depression & anxiety really doesn’t help in my case.
tldr; i would love some financial help for my hospital bill & my cat’s vet bill. paypal link below. thank you so much!
