I recently watched @zigmenthotep's most recent Tunnels & Trolls video, and I love their character design for Glittergore.
She looks quite cute, but also quite badass. I think a lot of that comes down to the shape language; Glittergore is mostly drawn with smooth curves, which make her look really cute, but the rest of her character design is free to incorporate as many scars and skulls and so forth as Zig liked without risking that cuteness.
I think the hatching also helps. The textured grays make her look kinda grimy, like she's been fluttering through a dungeon for two weeks without a bath or even a decent night's sleep. But it's not gray, it's black hatches and cross-hatches on white paper. That lets her look both clean and dirty.
At least, I think that's what's going on? I'm not an art guy, I just know I like Glittergore. Also the rest of Zigmenthotep's T&T character designs.
They all look like they belong in the same world, even though no two of them look alike.
Feyrith's stringy hair and messily cross-hatched robe make her look as grimy as GG, but her long limbs and hunched posture make her look like the too-tall, gangly, awkward weirdo she is.
Clover's poofier hair and more even cross-hatching make her look cleaner. She probably hasn't bathed, but she at least brought a damp rag and soap with her. She also looks calm and alert, not expecting any danger but ready if it appears.
Splink is...small, and feels quite a bit like Clover, clean and prepared, though perhaps a little less calm. That's probably part of why she didn't appear after the first T&T video.
I like her dress, though.
Grimbar is an almost undifferentiated mass of fuzz. Where other characters have pretty clear distinctions between different parts of their body, most of Grimbar is hatched to a similar density. His boots blend into his chausses blend into his beard blends into his helmet blends into his eyebrows. Those eyebrows make him look focused and fierce, looking forward to the first random encounter.
